Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
Really Nice but not made to last
Written by MA from wagga wagga

These headphones a really nice. There easy on the eye, have really handy controls (& Mic) and the sound is amazing. The only thing wrong with them.....?
I had them for one week! and the right one went all fuzzy. Sounds like the cone has come out of place. The good thing out that is because its only been a week, so apple should replace them i hope =[
If you listion to music every day (eg. Student) then i would say get them. But if music for you is just a 1 hour a day thing then go out and buy a cheaper pair.14 of 19 people found this useful

Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
"To each his own"
Written by TG from Layton
Sep 19, 2009
I've only had these for a few days and the main reason I bought these was for the control features (which only work with iphone 3G S). So in that aspect I'm very satisfied with them. I find having the extra controls to be very beneficial during my work outs at the gym and I find I'm not fumbling around with my phone while I'm driving.
These are the first pair of "noise canceling" headphones I've owned and there is definitely a noticeable difference in background noise when I put these in. I'm not blown away by the actual sound quality of these headphones but by no means am I disappointed either. I will say they are a far cry from the earbuds that come with the iPhone though. I haven't had any issues with fitment, I've tried all sized ear tips and I currently use the small tips. I started out with medium which felt fine, I've just found with small I can insert the earbuds in a little further which makes for a better sound. Again I haven't had any problems going to a smaller size as far as them feeling loose or falling out.
Another feature I like about these headphones is that the actual jack is a solid hard plastic. I still have my original headsets that come with the iPhone and the soft rubber coating (shielding?) around the outside of the jack is starting to tear and come apart a bit (although they still work fine).
The main complaint I have with these is I find that I get a little static discharge sometimes. I think that if I generate enough static electricity then it gets released through my earbuds. It's not painful to me but very annoying when it does happen. So far it's happened when I've started to run on the treadmill and when I've been walking around on carpet all day at school. Nothing that I can't deal with but....
Overall, I think it boils down to what you want your headphones for, especially when you consider the cost. If you're looking for functionality like I was then you'll be satisfied with these. I think if your looking more to enjoy phenomenal sound quality then you might, (not necessarily but "might") want something different. My little brother just bought a pair of "Beats" by Dr. Dre earbuds and WOW! But as much as I LOVE the sound quality they produce I also think it's kind of self defeating to spend that kind of money on an iPhone accessory and not be able to take calls, change volume, or scroll through songs.11 of 13 people found this useful

Mic Unusable
Written by SL from Houston
Sep 19, 2009
This review comes from someone at the other end of the conversation. My wife calls me from the car while using this headset. The mic part is unbelievably horrible. I cannot hear a word she says. I get high tinny feedback, and every other car noise other than her voice. I honestly cannot tell when she is speaking and when she is silent. Half of the conversation is my saying "what, can you repeat that? are you still talking?"

Fantastic!
Written by SC from Portland

I was immediately impressed with the comfort and sound provided by these headphones. Regarding the lack of bass others have mentioned, I think that is a function of the i-phone, because I tried them with my nano and the bass was richer (I have an i-phone 3). I just bought a pair of Klipsch Image S4 headphones for about the same price and the apple phones are very comparable.

Apple In-Ear Headphones Disappointing
Written by MC from Miami Beach
Sep 19, 2009
After the recommendation from a friend, I decided to pony up the money for a good quality headphones. However, the phone mic is great when talking to people on the phone but when I got to the gym and turned on my iTunes I was extremely disappointed. There was absolutely no bass! My suggestion is that if you are into trance or any electronic music then these are not the headphones for you. However, if you are into classical music where you don't need such bass then these are for you. I personally was disappointed and now my hunt continues for a good pair of headphones!

Good when they are working
Written by MK from San Francisco
Sep 19, 2009
These headphones have great sound when they are working. I am on my 4th pair, and the same thing keeps happening. The right ear piece cuts in and out, then if you tap on them enough and have some patience, it starts working again. The problem is that once it works again, the sound quality out of the right ear bud is so bad, it's unbearable. It's happened to me three times and twice to other friends of mine. The guy in the Apple store says he sees it often. It's definitely the worst Apple product I have ever purchased.

They are not good enough.
Written by FS from san Francisco

The point of in-ear headphones is perhaps the bass, so since I've always used the previous version I thought they were going to be better but they really don't impress. Cheaper brands may be better than this, I am wondering if the previous version is still for sale, anyone know?

Good sound for 2 months and then literally fell apart
Written by JS from ELMHURST

At first I thought these earphones were really good and had really great sound. I'm not going to lie I did enjoy these very much. They did have really good sound for about 2 months and then they started getting all distorted and they began to rattle alot. Especially if you play music with alot of bass or you listen to them at a high volume this will happen. Also, I had 1 ear bud go out on 2 different sets of these earphones.
Apart from the sound, they're pretty poorly made. The gray thing that goes from the wire to the actual ear bud easily unglues and that's when the quality goes downhill.
I'm on my 4th pair in less than a year and I'm finally giving up. The only thing that is good is that Apple has the 1 year manufacturer warranty and they will switch these out when you have problems with them, no questions asked they just test them and give you a brand new pair.
These would be fairly priced if they were better quality and didnt fall apart so easily. But that's not the case.
Overall I think you should get them if you live near an Apple store and you could get them switched out when they sound bad, otherwise its not worth the $80. You might as well go all out and get nice Bose or Dr. Dre Beats or just stick to standard ones like Sony.
Trust me I love Apple but the headphone thing isn't working for them YET, they make other great products but this is not one of them!6 of 6 people found this useful

Great!
Written by RG from Montreal

Yes they seem to lack bass but you do have VERY good sound quality. Clear, precise and try to find dual drivers at that price tag! I'm really impressed! Beside that, the cord do make a lot of noise when rubbing to your clothes. I just tried the Klipsch SI4today and will return them tomorrow morning, they are no match with the Apple's in-ear.
My trick with the cord is to run it behind my back, much less rubbing and noise from cord is next to none! I'm very happy, even more since I could compare to the SI4.18 of 25 people found this useful

No bass, returning them.
Written by MW from Perris
Sep 17, 2009
Bought these at the weekend and taking them back this weekend. Their is NO BASS at all on these, no matter what buds I use and how deep I force them into my ear canals.
I just happened to try the headphones that came with my BB Bold, they sound much better and the answer button works for calls and the click for pause/play and double click for track changes also!
I will miss the seperate buttons for controlling the volume, but I saved $8025 of 40 people found this useful

Fantastic sound, lasted a year, apple replaced them for free
Written by SC from Princeton
Sep 16, 2009
These headphones sound great. The high end is very clear, and crisp. The low end is a bit muted but not inappropriately so. The fit is very comfortable in my ears, and the sound blocking is very good. This does mean that when you rub the cord it sounds loud in your ears, so not great for jogging. My biggest qualm was when my right ear suddenly started distorting the sound. Luckily the helpful people at tech support sent me new ones.

The earbuds are alright. the sound quality is decent but compared to the bose, klipsh, or shure it has nothing. they lasted about 6 months before one of the buds stopped working. save your money and get a better pair.

Best Earphones EVER.
Written by DC from Quispamsis
Sep 15, 2009
Usually when you have earphones in, the only way to block out sound is to plug them into your iPhone, and turn on the music. The Apple In-Ear Headphones block out the sound, the moment you get them in your ears. When they say "even when you're listening to an old favourite, you may feel like you're hearing it for the first time." Everything in that statement is true. When you're listening to music through these earphones, you hear details in songs that you've never heard before, and when I listen to music with these earphones, I feel like the music is actually in my head. These earphones are the only way to get the whole experience and feeling of a song.

Love Them!
Written by VB from Fresno
Sep 15, 2009
These have to be the lightest headphones I've ever owned. I have the Shure SE 110's and love them, too (I still use them as well). I bought the mic adapter for the Shure's and enjoyed it for a while, but I didn't like clipping the mic to my shirts and when I let the mic dangle, the sound quality obviously diminishes.
The mic/remote on these in-ear's is just convenient. I also chose these because the regular Apple stereo earbuds don't fit my ears snugly. The silicone buds give my ears the perfect fit. These in-ears do the job nicely without the bulk and weight of other in-ear headphones.14 of 18 people found this useful

An ear full of hurt
Written by LH from Oakville
Sep 15, 2009
This is the first Apple product I regret. I couldn't wait for them to come, thinking I was going to hear new richness in my music. However, after an hour switching the tips and trying different size tips in different ears, I received only disappointment and a headache. The sound is tinny if the ear pieces are too loose, but even when well sealed I cannot hear the bass I am used to with the default iPhone 3GS ear buds. Will try to get a refund, because I will literally never use these.

Use the Right Size Tip for an Air Seal
Written by IM from Toronto
Sep 15, 2009
I tried the medium size tips, yuk, then I tried the small thinking I should get them deeper into my ear. no luck, tinny, and all mids. Then the large. Voila! It created and air-seal and the bass became rich and deep.

I like it!!
Written by SL from Los Angeles
Sep 14, 2009
It works fine with me.
Before buy this , I tried Bose in-ear headset which was very comfortable in my ear.
I also wanted to try apple in ear headphone, but there was no sample one for try at apple store.
Anyway, I decided to buy this because it is an apple product and $50 less than bose.
Also bose headset is not noise cancellation but apple does.
At first time I tried apple in ear headphone, I didn't like it.
But after I found right silicone size for my ear and put it in to my ear to tight seal,
everything is changed.
I really like it.
During driving I couldn't enjoy to listening soft music before, but now, I can.
Sound is great.
For great sound, you must insert in ear headphone deep enough (air-tight seal)
or sound quality will suffer.
For comfortable, actually bose is much better. but not much difference with other brand in ear headphones.13 of 14 people found this useful
