Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
great sound, but not formed for my ears
Written by SH from Tawas City
Oct 3, 2009
I love the sound these headphones put out; you can very much tell the difference between them and cheap headphones. However I'm not a fan of the cusion inserts. Even the smallest one was too bulky for me. If they had a an insert like the cheaper headphones with built-in mic, they would be great. As for me, I have to go back to the cheaper pair because they feel so much better in my ear (I'll have to deal with the worse sound quality).

Great Product
Written by JM from Boise
Oct 2, 2009
I just purchased these earphones and it's great! They fit comfortably in my ears, which is difficult to find, I can't even feel them! The music is clear, clean and sounds really great. The only downside for me is the expensive packaging, making the product cost more money than it should.
Great buy though, seriously!2 of 2 people found this useful

Not what I hoped...
Written by JS from Lake Stevens
Oct 2, 2009
I give 3 stars because they are better than the stock ones, but nothing like the Bose ones I had before or the Etymotic ones I have now. I like the looks, but the sound quality and clarity is just not there. After using the Bose for over a year I just wasn't able to deal with the lack of spacial, clear, awe-inspiring audio from these headphones. The Bose and Etymotic headphones have an even/balanced range that these just don't have even with the two drivers. They just need to have higher quality components to make the sound better. Decent price, but not for the quality. I'd just get some Sony in ear headphones for like $30 bucks (had some before my Bose, they were pretty good, lots of bass). Either spend less for some Sony's or a little more for the Bose, or just spend another $100 and get the Etymotic ER-4P's I just picked up.

Best Headphones in this pricerange
Written by PN from Praha 3
Oct 1, 2009
I'm surprised. In this pricerange I had several headphones from Sennheiser, Ultimate Ears or V-Moda, Koss, but those are really amazing. I really rediscovered my music with never before known details. Small drawback is volume control absence with iPhone G3, but you can live without it. The sound is clean, full and pure.

Not for while you're eating
Written by JC from Kirkwood
Oct 1, 2009
The sound quality of these earphones is superb. I am impressed. I wanted something in-ear, as my wrap around B&O's interfere with my glasses. If you keep these snug inside your ears, the bass and depth of the music is awesome and sounds like a big over ear pair.
But, don't try to eat anything while listening to something soft like classical or talk radio. Because these earphones seal your ear shut, all you'll hear is your mouth chewing or crunching. This isn't a design flaw, just the nature of how they work. The same applies for when the cord rubs against something.
What I do think is a down side is the fact that you can't hear your own voice over the earphones when you're talking on the phone. You have to loosen them up in order to hear yourself talk on the phone. I would think something like that could be fixed with a software update?16 of 24 people found this useful

Just Not Up to Apple Quality
Written by MM from Chicago
Oct 1, 2009
While these sound pretty good for the price, the workmanship on them is attrocious. I have exchanged three pairs of these headphones because the wiring started coming out of the earbuds or because of a short in the microphone/remote. Also, the rubber ear inserts come off of the headphone and stick in your ear when you take the head set off. Despite the good sound, it is a dreadful product. I would suggest another alternative.

Even better with an iPhone!
Written by BE from Lakeland
Sep 30, 2009
When I first got them I had a first generation iPod touch.. The sound quality was great... But no remote. Well, they broke and only played in one ear.. Apple warranty is second to none. With skull candy, which may be lifetime, the headphones had to be shipped out, and that may take weeks. The day I was able to drive again, I went to the Apple Store (30 miles away) no question asked... Got a new set. Recently, I purchased an iPhone... my headphones were the reason in buying one.. The remote is great, the 3Gs voice control is great as well with the microphone..

Sound great but...
Written by TV from Chicago
Sep 29, 2009
These headphones sound great, especially considering the good price.
They work well with the iPhone. The features of the headphones work except for volume up/down.
But one significant problem: The steel mesh broke off in my left ear and painfully pressed against my ear drum. The replaceable assembly didn't unscrew into my ear, though it does loosen quite often. The mesh alone broke away from its replaceable assembly. This mesh is only about 1.5mm in diameter, and has sharp edges.
I am lucky that my ear drum was not cut.21 of 22 people found this useful

Just receive and make the tests
Written by GT from Pallini
Sep 27, 2009
Hi,
I receive mine 2 days ago and make tests between old 3G iPhone earphones, the 3G S earphones and the new inEar Headphones.
There is no sound quality difference between 3G and 3G S earphones but in the new 2 way, the sound is Crystal Clear and the instruments are easily distinguishable better than the old ones.. the sound is NOT flat any more and there is depth.
What only made me unhappy is the LOSS of BASS.
I was expecting deeper bass from these 2 way headphones than the old ones wich are way better...
All in all the quality is good as expected, the design is excellent and the sound is very good, but NOT the best due to loss of bass..

Great!

The sound quality of these headphones are amazing, if you fit them correctly. They do fall out of my ears every five or ten minutes but I just push them back in. It is worth it for the quality.

Disappointing
Written by JM from North Bethesda
Sep 27, 2009
I like the look and feel of the hardware, but I am disappointed by the poor build quality and the incompatibility of several functions with the new iPhone. The earbud cable connection covers both detached after only a few months. Some of the new functions, like skip, don't work.

Inferior Product
Written by SK from Philadelphia
Sep 27, 2009
I went to Apple and the representative convinced me that the Apple in set headphones were $20 cheaper and just as good as the BOSE headphones. WRONG. First of all, they fall out of your ears frequently especially if you are working out. They can collect dirt and ear wax. They are not as good at filtering sound as the BOSE ones. After a few months, the left ear lost sound. Overall, I would skip it....pay the extra money for better headphones and better customer service.

Major quality issues -- so wanted to love this product.
Written by EE from Hoboken
Sep 27, 2009
I am an owner of multiple high-end in-ear headphones: Ultimate Ears TripleFi, Shure E5c, etc. Ergonomically, the Apple in-ears are WAY ahead of these products, and are by far the most convenient in-ears I've ever worn. They also sound great: great bass and great clarity, though not nearly as pristine as those $400 sets. Still, they sound good enough for 99% of humanity. Those remaining 1%, you know who you are, so don't even bother...
The problem with this product is not design -- it's in its manufacturing quality. This product is totally flimsy. I have two of those and they are both literally falling apart after just a few months of use. Cable-guarding plastics falling off weeks after we started using them. But the serious issue is with the rubber ear pieces that don't cling to the headphones properly. We keep losing them as they fall off at the slightest tug. This means that they are likely to fall off when getting pulled out of a bag, etc. By now we have lost more than half of the ear pieces it shipped with, and the most amazing thing is that Apple doesn't even sell those ear pieces separately...
Bottom line, if you are sitting at home or at the office with them they are probably okay, but with any kind of travel, they are just not durable enough, unfortunately.15 of 15 people found this useful

Nice, but fragile
Written by RC from San Francisco
Sep 26, 2009
Great sound. Ear sizes don't quite fit me and the material isn't very grippy so they tend to fall out of the ear easily. The only reason I bought them was for the remote so I could use it with my iPhone. They're also extremely fragile. If you commute on crowded transit or go to the gym, don't buy these earbuds. I'm getting mine replaced because they've come apart. This is the last set of Apple earbuds I'm buying. Great sound quality, but you need to baby them.

I'm on my third pair because the volume control keeps going out. Moving on to a different brand. Sound is great on these though. Used them for jogging on the tread mill. I was told they would be great for running. However it appears that they cannot hold up to the task at hand.

Not worth $79 and Rubber Ear Pieces
Written by BS from Gastonia

Like a lot of people have said the rubber ear pieces. They sound ok and all. I have already lost the rubber pieces that fit my ears because they always fall off. Now the earphones are worthless and i wasted $79 to.

silcone earpieces fall off too easy
Written by DM from Carlsbad
Sep 25, 2009
The silicone earpieces stay in your ears when removed and just fall off also. This is a very poorly designed headphone. I brought them on a 12 hour flight and one of the pieces fell off before takeoff - I never found it - and therefore never got to use my ipod during the flight. Thanks apple for your lousy design.
