Bad sound, cheap construction
Written by KW from Gulfport
Nov 24, 2009
I'm on my second pair of these -- HATE the white, they're always dirty - I use my headphones at all times and they don't last. My second pair of these this year is already failing (I'm only getting sound out of one earpiece, but have to wear both because the mike is in the earpiece that's failed.)
I 've also purchased the extra special $80 corded earbuds they sell in the Apple Store, hoping for better quality and more solid construction, but after the second pair of these failed after the first month of constant use I've given up! Why can't they come up with a set of "Black" (that matches the phone) earbuds that sound good and don't fall apart with constant use??? I've only had the phone 10 months and gone thru 4 sets of headphones!3 of 3 people found this useful

Why Can't Apple make decent headphones?
Written by JW from BAINBRIDGE ISLAND
Nov 22, 2009
Every other Apple product I have purchased has been high quality, well designed, etc.
But I have had 4 pairs of these over the years. Every single one of them keep falling out of my ears. The only way to get them to stay in is to jam them in so far that they hurt, or you can't hear anything because they are crooked in your ear
The phone mic is great. No problems and high praises.
I just wish Apple would make earphones that are equal to their other products in quality and usability. These aren't up to your standards, Apple!1 of 3 people found this useful

2 down
Written by JM from Baltimore
Nov 3, 2009
DON'T spend $30 clams on these. I have 2 pair. Both pair fall out of my ears. The rubber has peelED off of both pair. In less than a year the
older of the 2 has lost sound in one of the buds. C'MON SON. How on earth does a company who can provide me a billion apps and so many other cool features
not be able to provide me with a pair of decent ear buds. C'MON SON! I went to Walmart and purchased a pair of earbuds for $7.99 and they work great and they have
additional bud covers in the pack. So what there is not mic, it don't take much to lift my hand to my ear. To Apple all I can say is C'MON SON.16 of 18 people found this useful

Sticky rubber!!!!
Written by SG from San Francisco
Oct 28, 2009
Why do the wires have to have the STICKY RUBBER COATING???? They get stuck on everything! Even each other! I've ruined TWO pairs by just trying to pull them out from between layers of clothing, and they grip so much they disconnect completely separating from the main wire.
The original non sticky coating was much better, and slid through clothing layers just fine. Didn't stick to everything they touched.
Is this rubbery coating supposed to serve a function? Is it somehow better than the original?
I'm a big Mac fan, but these are SO ANNOYING!!!3 of 6 people found this useful

THEY WEAR OUT FAST IVE HAD 3 PAIRS WITHIN A YEAR
Written by JG from London
Oct 9, 2009
i just wish they would last ive had 3 pairs within a year the rubber stuff peels off and even caused me an ear infection a little piece of it came off and was stuck in my ear!! i just think they need to make that rubber stuff a bit tougher cause even the end were the jack is slips off all 3 pairs have fell apart on their own, however they have very good performance i will keep buying them i just think for the price we pay for them they should last a litte bit longer and rubber shouldnt be stuck in our ears from the peeling.. come on apple make your product a little bit better then this.. this is stuff i can expect coming out of a dollar store but not your company PLEASE FIX THIS!

breaks easy
Written by SA from Orlando
Oct 7, 2009
In the two years I have had my iPhone, I think I have exchanged about three headphones. Someone said: 'Apple is really good about replacing faulty items'. Why don't they just make their equipment properly in the fist place?

They're always breaking!
Written by JS from Lincoln
Oct 6, 2009
I've really liked the headphones, I know people have complained but to me they're comfortable, however, I've had atleast 5 pair of these headphones break.. and it's always one of two things either the right earbud (the one with the mic) goes out or a speaker gets blown.
At $30 a pair, I'm never buying a pair of apple earbuds again.8 of 11 people found this useful

Painful to wear
Written by RC from Santa Fe
Oct 6, 2009
As usual, Apple's earbuds hurt to wear. The hard plastic and large size combine for a painful fit not to mention how you can hardly move your head without one of them falling out. What a waste, especially since the sound quality isn't half bad. If these earbuds were made of a softer plastic and didn't come in a size that was probably designed by a 6 foot tall man with large ears, I would love them. In fact, I'd use them for my iphone and get rid of my bluetooth ear pieces. Maybe someday Apple will listen to the constant complaints about this issue.

The soft cover wears off
Written by NN from Dallas
Sep 9, 2009
The sound quality is not good when used as handsfree. The sudden ups and downs are disturbing and annoying. Listening to music is still awesome.
Worst of all - silicon soft cover wears off easily. My earphones are in good shape but without the earbud covers, it is inconvenient. Do i have to shed $30 for this???11 of 13 people found this useful

shockingly BAD
Written by HS from New York
Sep 8, 2009
One of the great mysteries of the digital age. How can a company that makes such outstanding hardware extend such a piece of trash design to the iphone line?
Not only do they sound terrible, they hurt and fall out of your ears. If only they had designed them to fall out as soon as they start hurting would there be any redeeming value to this headset.12 of 17 people found this useful

Great as long as you don't workout at the gym with them
Written by DB from Knoxville
Sep 6, 2009
Specifically, if you do any cardio or other type of exercise where you sweat. I've gone through two pair now and I find that as your begin to sweat on your face it somehow gets into the inline controller and causes it to short out - no allowing you to adjust volume or change track. Once it dries out you're fine but you only get about 15min of a workout in with them on before your loose control of your music.

fall out of ears
Written by MD from East Sydney
Sep 6, 2009
These are the same as the ones that ship with the 3Gs - unless redesigned they will be a waste of money. The standard apple shipped iphone stereo headset will not stay in my ears.
I have never had this issue before & have had dozens of different styles of headsets. Either the shape is wrong or the curling of the cord in the pack ruins the positioning.
very poor field testing I suspect. I have heard that getting some ( not supplied) foam covers helps. Will try these & post again if fixes.4 of 4 people found this useful

Don't workout with this headset!
Written by LC from Lake Oswego
Sep 3, 2009
I purchased a new iPhone and used it to workout. The volume down button on the headset shorted out and kept activating the 'Voice Control' over and over. Was incredibly frustrating.
After a replacement headset, I went jogging and 20 minutes into run, then same short happened. Don't use this headset when working out!6 of 10 people found this useful
