I liked these for two months... then they broke

    Written by SM from Brooklyn

    Feb 24, 2009

I gave these two stars, because for two months they were great. The sound quality is decent, the fit is decent. The little microphone/button is sleek. Sleek and frail, that is. The button/mic stopped working after two months. That bummed me out, but I dealt with it. Now, after six months of use, this headset is completely broken. I cannot listen to music any more. I didn't treat them badly, they simply broke because they're not made to last. Apple is sending this kind of garbage straight to the landfill. "The Ultimate iPod" is no longer producing music out of headphones.

    Apple iBuds

    Written by RK from Cleveland

    Feb 23, 2009

I have narrow ear channels or openings, and most in-ear bud-type phones will not stay in and are most uncomfortable. While there is occasional slippage, the Apple ear-bud phones stay in quite reliably and are quite comfortable, and I find the sound to be very good. I have also found that, in my 3-4 years of use with the various iPods I have purchased, the Apple ear phones are more durable than other name-brand phones I have used with other portable personal stereos. I am quite satisfied and have purchased two more sets as back-ups.

    cord, mic, remote great

    Written by JB from menasha

    Feb 23, 2009

the are great for temporary headphones. but not ones i would keep using. the mic and remote works wonderful with my iphone 3g. but the earbuds are unbearable. the sound quality wise they hit the highs but u don't get the low bass. they don't cut out on ambient noise. i cant have them in my ears for very long they tend to hurt my ears. but i love the mic remote and cord. so i bought some better performing headphones took the earbuds off them and put them on the the apple headset cord. i couldnt be happier.

    Low Quality, Short Life

    Written by SC from Springfield

    Feb 22, 2009

Simply put, these headphones do not stand up to moderate use. The audio clips out at even low volumes and the casing on the wires comes off around the mic. The rubber comes off the earpieces, making extended listening unbearable. While the microphone and click-button work nicely, the short lifespan of this product makes these headphones nothing but disposable.

    Dissapointed in earbuds

These headphones are horrible, after owning these earbuds for a week they went dead, the left ear would not play I had to play around with the wire to make the left ear play. Apple needs to design the next Iphone earbuds with better material so that they last longer.

    Bad quality.

Written by VF from Rio de Janeiro

    Feb 19, 2009

My two iPhone headset broke exactly in same place. My right speaker is dead since the cable has split in the microphone connection.

Two headsets, 4 months for both and the same damage, this is ridiculous.

I'll get another headset from other brand.

    Don't bother

Written by EB from LOS ANGELES

    Feb 15, 2009

Both hubby and I have iPhones, and our biggest complaint is the stereo headsets. They're junk! The sound in one ear is already fading (same problem in both), and we've had them only six months. Same as the Apple headphones-they keep dying too. Not good, Apple.

    Good For The Money

    Written by BD from Reston

    Feb 12, 2009

These earbuds work very well, considering the cost and purpose. I am generally picky about earpieces (they often fall out of my ears) and have had no problem with these at all. The sound quality is very good - again, considering the cost.

    Ow...ow...ow...(falls out of ear)

    Written by KS from Woodside

    Feb 6, 2009

Sorry Apple, but I just can't bear it any longer! These are the most ill-fitting ear buds I've EVER used.
If it weren't for the cool mic button, I would have trashed these within days.

I think I'm going to have to splurge on those sweet looking, bass heavy, Skullcandy Full
Metal Jackets. And unlike these, they come with a case. All bud earphones should come with a case.

    Works great if treated well

    Written by ZH from orinda

    Feb 3, 2009

    Pros:
    -Great quality sound for music
    -Very responsive and clear microphone
    -Fits fine in the ear
    -Looks nice

    Cons:
-Because of the microphone, there isn't that thing that's used to keep the headphones together (that slides up and down the regular headphones)
-The button on the microphone isn't all that useful, and is tough to find in the dark or if you aren't looking.
-Just about as fragile as the iPod earphones. Lose volume in 1-ear after a while if not treated very well.
-Difficult to understand the people you're talking to at times, and the call volume isn't the best.

Overall: Treat them right and they'll serve you well for years, but being rough with them will result in volume loss in one ear, which is why I've gone through 7 pairs of Apple earphones since getting my iPod nano 3 years ago.

    Painful to wear...

    Written by JH from Renton

    Feb 3, 2009

I'm ok with the sound quality but these just plain hurt to wear. It makes my new 'fun' iphone no fun to listen to music on. If they had other sizes to choose from it might be an option for me, but until then I am forced to look for some other alternative.

Plus, it hangs up my phone calls if I need to plug it in or unplug it while on a call.

$30 Headphones... what can you possibly ask for

    Written by YG from brooklyn

    Feb 3, 2009

Whats going on. I have been an ipod/iphone/mac user for over 5 years. When i bought my iphone these earphones came with it. Nothing special. Always falls out of my right ear for some reason. Quality is not that great, but for $30 you really shouldn't be asking for more. The mic is really a great feature here. For its quality that is. I am told the sound is very clear when speaking to someone over them. If you want regular earphones for $30 buy these.

Pretty solid -- button is great, but unreliable

    Written by BD from Stoneybatter

    Feb 1, 2009

I'm really happy with these headphones. I find them very comfortable for my daily commute, and the simple functionality of the button/mic is fantastic.

However, that button has stopped working for me (after about 6 months), so I'm going to have to get them replaced.

    Great headset

    Written by GH from Miami

    Jan 29, 2009

I don't know what people are complaining about. I use these headphones primarily at the gym with my iphone. I used to carry an ipod and a cell phone, but with the iphone and built in ipod I now carry the one. I love the way the ipod stops playing music when a call comes in and I can talk on the same headset I was listening to the music on. Also, I think the sound on the headset is great, and I've been listening to music for a LONG time! It works for me; it may not meet all your desires, but should meet most.

    Poor Quality

    Written by JO from Whittier

I am on my 7th pair. They just wear out after 3-4 months. The sound just gets dimmer over time. Usually in the mic ear first.
However, the first pair is covered under the first year warrenty.
