Ear piece comes apart.
Written by CJ from Meridian
Jun 1, 2009
I'm on my third set of headphones. Each set has had the rubber around the earphone come apart. I'll be looking for alternatives when I purchase again.

I Like Them!!
Written by JV from Venice
May 29, 2009
I haven't had these for very long but they work very well for me. My only concern is them breaking. I go through headphones like you wouldn't believe, but because of how light these ones are I'm always afraid that one of the earbuds will just rip off or something. But they sound very good, coming from some one who's used to Bose headphones. I like this product and when they do actually break I'll buy them again!

Awesome when new but bad after a few months.
Written by GL from Grand Prairie
May 28, 2009
I love these headphones when they are new. I wear them around at work and don't put them on my ears so i can hear everything else and they work awesome. But after a month or so the button stops working. Then a few weeks later it just completely stops working. They should really be stronger and no break as easily as they do.

4 sets in 3 months
Written by DM from Harrisburg
May 25, 2009
I wish I could be so lucky as to have my earbuds last as long as some of those who complain they die after 6 months or a year. I'm on my 4th pair in the 3 months since I got the iphone 3G. I love the phone but I'm dissappointed that Apple would continue to send me such garbage. The problem always starts on the right earbud, it's gets crackly, weak and tinny, then it starts on the left earbud. The pair I have currently has been useless for the last 3 or 4 weeks. I think it's time to fork over the cash for a decent pair from a different manufacturer.

I like'em!
Written by AS from Jacksonville
May 25, 2009
The headset that comes with the iPhone works just fine for phone conversations, much easier than holding the phone to my ear, and, for me, and the sound is pretty good. I would like a couple of extra sets to leave around (work, car, etc), so if all the complainers would send me theirs I wouldn't have to buy an extra set. By the way, I bought an expensive set of phones that I ultimately rejected and went back to these as simple, light, and sound worthy

Need much improvement
Written by RJ from DALLAS
May 21, 2009
These are great for just listening to music, but really bad as a microphone during a phone conversation. I would think that Apple could design them with at least the same microphone that they have in the iPhone. I try to use them when driving, but generally have to take them off and end up holding the iPhone to my ear.

ear bud/mic
Written by NN
May 20, 2009
they kill my ears but I use them because of the microphone aspect..I really wish apple would come up with an alternative. I need a pair that hooks behind the ear and has the microphone on it..these hurt and don't stay in..the microphone is excellent. I like that if a call comes in while you are listening to music it automatically goes to the call.

Inconsistent
Written by CR from Marietta
May 19, 2009
The set that came with my iPhone 3G were tolerable. They fit improperly and started to hurt after a while, but I ended up tolerating them. Last Friday the skies over Atlanta opened up, getting some water on my headphones. The right one stopped working properly, so I picked up a new set this morning.
These fit and sound great. No problems with pain, no problems with getting a good fit. Consequently, they sound better than the previous set.
This sort of inconsistency is kind of puzzling, but since I now have a set that performs as expected I give four stars.12 of 13 people found this useful

Poor Quality
Written by SK from Bangalore
May 18, 2009
Sounded great initially, but with regular usage found that the rubber protective covering around the ear piece gets weared off making it look like a cheap one, initially thought i was roughing it up but then could find every user of these headsets facing the same problem.
u cant lie down with it, they popp out, u cant walk keeping them they popp put and while driving it gets a lot more messy. they should have given an in-ear speaker model which are much more soothing to the ear and the streo effect would have been better, unless they rectify the basic desgin its a NO-NO for me.

don't stay in
Written by BW from Columbia
May 16, 2009
The sound is okay. My problem is that they just won't stay in my ears and when they are in my ears they are uncomfortable. I don't know if it's because they're too big or too small. If I slightly tilt my head they pop out and walking with them is a nightmare. Definitely could not workout with them in.

Great when the right ear bud doesn't break
Written by JN from Seattle
May 16, 2009
The design of the right earphone is poor. My second pair has started to fail again. Regular use puts tension on the headphone with the microphone attached. Increased resistance at the site causes decreased sound volume in the right earbud. I went to the Apple Store to see if I could buy just a regular pair of headphones. But now it seems that all headphones have mics built into the right cord. Until this problem is resolved by a major redesign, I won't buy any more apple headphones with mics attached.

hit and miss
Written by MD from MITCHELTON

The sound is ok, but the quality is a bit hit and miss. I used to have three pairs, two broke for no reason, but the third has gone through the wash, and been stood on (on cement) and still work (the metal mesh bit is now a bit buckled and the white plastic is scratched badly).

Great Sound output but quality ...
Written by PG from New Delhi
May 12, 2009
Great, unmatched sound quality but material is not upto standard .. start breaking within 4 months and that also with a very moderate use .. I used the other handsets in the past and handsfree lasts almost with the handset for 2 years but never got the cracks like this one ... why the quality is not similar as handset.

Four of these headsets in a year! Forget it!
Written by JZ from Woodbridge
May 11, 2009
I bought this thing four times from July 2008 to May 2009. First one came with the iPhone, second pair I bought for misplacing the last one but found it. Both of those died on the right earbud. Got a third one, right earbud died. Got a fourth one last month, it died too.
Don't waste your money. Get an iPhone adapter and a normal pair of headphones. This is made bad.20 of 22 people found this useful

GARBAGE
Written by JR from Ambler
May 10, 2009
I really can't say how the sound quality is, because they wont stay in my ear long enough to hear anything... The first run I took with these I had to stop every four steps to curse out loud, then put them back in.
You think apple would provide a decent pair of headphones with the greatest phone on the market... what garbage. Don't EVERY buy these.11 of 11 people found this useful

Waste of Money
Written by GS from Fort Worth
May 9, 2009
These are, by far, the worst headset I have ever owned. When I got the IPhone, I thought it was so cool that I could go from music to talking on the phone with just the click of the mic. However, as the buds will NEVER stay in my ear for more than two minutes at a time, they are more a hinderance than a help.
By the way, I'm on my second pair. The plastic edging, which I assume is to help them stay in your ear, has peeled off both pair.
One more thing, the sound quality is really good when the headset is new. But the left earbud died 4 months into the first pair and the right shortly after. If you want a good pair of everyday buds, try the Blackberry buds with mic. They are only $10 more and work great - even while I'm working out!10 of 11 people found this useful

Disappointed
Written by DV from Newton
May 6, 2009
I love owning and using Apple products and I really want to write a good review, but I just can't.
The first pair of nicely designed earbuds that came with my super-cool iPhone only lasted a year before the sound went down to almost nothing.
So I bought a new iPhone Stereo Headset and they lasted three months before the left channel sound went way down and now a few months later, the right side sound is disappearing. I expect WAY more out of Apple products than this and I hate that I am now thinking of buying something non-Apple to work with my iPhone.
Consider buying two or three pairs at a time, or just try your luck with one of the more expensive and compatible products available on the Apple Store.

Unreliable Material quality and Horrible sound quality
Written by GM from Dartmouth
May 5, 2009
I already had two of these headsets since the always break down on me. Unreliable for daily use. For the sound, once you're in an area filled with noise forget using this headset since it does not emit sound as loudly as other aftermarket and even ordinary apple headsets. Overall, If you're going to buy this headset get at least 2 spares.
