breaks too easily, sound is good but silent

    Written by BL from Anchorage

    Jun 25, 2009

I like the quality of the sound from these earphones. However, I don't like how I have to turn them a certain way and turn the volume almost all the way up just to hear out of them. Mine lasted for around 6 months, and then one day sound stopped coming out from the right side. I'm looking at the other comments, and this seems to be a common problem for everyone else. If you're willing to get new ones every 6 months, then these are right for you. If not, get the higher quality ones that last longer.

Hurts my ear! Apple-I am dissappointed with your choice here!!

I love Apple products. Just got the new iPhone 3GS.
About the headset: Ok, I have read a lot of reviews here. Almost everyone says that these headsets hurts the ears. They fit poorly. It is really hard to take a one-size fits all concept here. Apple - please either don't include these headsets with the iPhones or include the better one - the "Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic".
But, on the positive side- I really like the functionality of the Control Capsule. Apple - please make this a better product by improving the comfort aspect. Thanks!

pretty nice package for the price

    First the good:
    * inexpensive relative to many other earbuds
    * sound quality is very good for calls, decent for music. but more important, the sound for callers is also decent--they can actually understand you!
    * durable. I've had another brand i swap off with (much higher cost) and I've replaced the other brand twice while this one is still going strong.
    * you can actually be on calls with both earbuds in. They don't seal completely, so you have some sense of hearing your own voice and can judge volume. With the in-ear buds i have, i wind up shouting at some point and callers tell me to "settle down."
    * i can wear these at the gym and i don't get those little ear-shocks when i start to sweat.

    Now the bad:
    * hurts your ears after about 30 minutes
    * no volume control for iphone
    * sound quality for music is OK, but not great

    Terrible

I first got this type of earphones with the new iPod shuffle. I have had nothing but trouble with them. THEY BREAK TOO EASILY. In addition, if you are a runner, the positioning of the controls is not convenient. My advice: Don't buy these.

    Not Worth It!

Although the iPhone is a fantastic product, the earphones that come with it are terrible. Way to large, keep falling out of ears, and very uncomfortable to wear. It would be worth your while to by an aftermarket set.

The headset doesn't last long. After a while my left side headset stopped working. Only right side work properly. In sister's iPhone, the same thing happened.

    Very good earbuds!

    Written by DN from Norfolk

I'm no professional musician, but am pretty picky when it comes to headphones. I'm a recent new owner of an iPhone and these came with it. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of sound from them. I have some Koss PortaPros that I compared them to, and although they don't achieve the same level of bass or warmth, they come surprisingly close. I've had an iPod with the previous generation of horrible earbuds that come with it, and this is a major improvement in the sound. I haven't worn them too long, but they're definitely more comfortable than before. I can't vouch for the quality of the mic just yet. But again for some Apple earbuds, they definitely sound great.

I wish I could find something that I could speak into when I'm walking, for the price I should be able to have an item for more than 3 months. We have 3 Iphones in the home and no one has a working Headset.

    They Just Don't Fit

    Written by AK from Greensboro

    Jun 22, 2009

The iPhone headset just doesn't stay in my ears no matter what I do. When I get a premium product I expect the accessories to be at least partly good, but no matter how Apple has changed their earbuds in recent years, they still just don't fit for some people. This is a design flaw that renders them useless to a large minority of their users and it really needs to be addressed by Apple.

    They Do Their Job Well

    Written by CK from Tumwater

    Jun 20, 2009

My first pair of these came with my iPhone which I bought in November 2007 and they lasted until June 2009, when the left ear bud didn't work unless I pulled down on the wire. I bought a new pair today. I think a lifespan of almost two years is pretty good for them and I am very satisfied. I love being able to pause my music and answer calls without having to get my phone out of my pocket.

I have had my iphone for a little over a year and have gone through 3 sets of headsets, the same thing happens everytime, the start to sound fuzzy then one ear stops working then quiet...frustrating i guess i should spend the $100+ it takes for good quality headphones

    Just another disapointment

    Written by LC from Bloomingdale

    Jun 16, 2009

This was...may i stress second pair, of headphones. The original headset broke at the ear piece and the replacement just broke as i was taking it out of my purse to plug in my phone. For the price of these things i sure hope they can find better glue or material to put together headsets. At 40 bucks or so a pop I think I'm getting ripped off!

I wish there was an alternative...

    Written by RF from williamstown

    Jun 15, 2009

I go through a pair about every six months. Very disappointing that Apple is putting out such poor quality. I cannot find all the things that are good about these headphones in the others, even the expensive ones. I like that they don't go in your ear so they don't totally block out the world around you (if I want great sound I plug the phone into the stereo or better headphones for plane rides) and that they have the button to easily turn music on and off. None of the others have both these simple items so here I am shelling out another $30 for my umpteenth pair...

    Broken again

    Written by BF from Chicago

Like everyone else. They sounds fine for a while. Then, they break easily. I just broke my second pair in 6 months. Time to buy another set. I don't see a good alternative you can speak into for under $100.

I go through a set of these every 6 months. Sound falls off in one ear and then they start dropping volume/quality. One ear eventually dies.

    Written by BS from Shakopee

I bought these thinking they would work great with my ipod touch. I quickly found out they are unreliable because the controls don't work over half the time. I feel sorry for those who try and use them with the new shuffles.
