I charged my Ipod shuffle just 3 times before the dock quit working sceptical on weather to buy a new charge dock wish they had a cord like the headphones the you could just plug in like the headphones

I took care of my USB dock and for some reason it says unknown USB when i plug it in the computer and i got a replacement ipod and it still does the same thing this USB dock is unsatisfactory

I am a happy Apple user but had very bad experince with this product. Broke after just a couple of weeks. "Dont do it" Apple inc.!

The base of dock portion is too small and light for it to stay where you place it on a desk even with the rubber on the bottom. The cord is stiffer than the dock is heavy and thus dictates where it ends up sitting on my desk. Recently, the end snapped off my dock but I will not be replacing it due to the cost. I find it extremely hard to believe that 65% of the cost of my Ipod when I purchased it was due to the charging cord. Especially since it is clearly just a modified usb cord. My Ipod no longer holds a charge long enough to justify spending $40 on a new dock for it. In my opinion the new shuffle has been out long enough to justify lowering the price of the older docks.

I bought my shuffle only 6 months ago and now the dock doesn't work. The shuffle itself works fine, but now I can't charge it. I have never dropped mine, or abused it in anyway, so it has nothing to do with how I've handled it. This is poor quality! I can't see paying $30 just for a new dock, but I don't want the newest shuffle either.

This dock is poorly designed. Mine failed so frequently (probably half the time) then mysteriously broke three weeks later. I am purchasing the Marware dock instead.

I've had my iPod Shuffle for over 3 yrs now, no problem with charging, download or the dock breaking. The only issue is with me:(...I've seemed to misplaced mine. I agree, if you take care of the dock, it will work just fine! My 9 yr old has had the shuffle the same amount of time as I have and hers also works fine!! TAKE CARE OF YOUR THINGS AND THEY WILL LAST LONGER!!!!

Its good, but stupid! Step on it, leave it out.. it'll break.
AND I don't wanna pay 30 bucks for a new one. Thats about as much as an ipod shuffle WITH a new cable is..

This doesn't deserve 1 star, unfortunately I have to give it a rating.
It didn't have it for even 9 months, & I'm not sure why it won't work.
If the cord costs $30, and the ipod that comes with it should be sold seperate as $30 too, if it costs
$60 together.

I agree that the dock is flimsy. Mine is broken and it is going to cost $29 to replace it--ridiculous. One should be able to walk into an Apple Store and get a free replacement.

From time to time I travel for work and bring my iPod and laptop with me so I can work and listen to music and audiobooks. Perhaps actually moving the dock around is too tough on it (and I'm not taking proper care of my equipment) because the stem broke off. I pack the dock and laptop in my carry-on, but the dock is the only thing that has ever broken. iPods were designed, I thought, so that we could travel with them. Perhaps the docks were designed to break so we'd have to replace them, spending more money on the same piece of equipment. Shame on you, Apple, for your poor design. I also don't like that, even when the dock works, you can either charge the shuffle or listen to it, but not both. I preferred the old design.

My situation is almost identical to previous reviews on this topic...My iPod shuffle is no longer being recognized on my computer and it is now dead and will not charge. Consequently, I can't listen to any music or add any new music (not recognized on iTunes either). I think it is unfortunate to not be able to enjoy a product because it's accessories stop working. I love my shuffle so I am frustrated that I can't use it. Is there any solution to this problem? Up until this point, I would have strongly recommended the shuffle (2nd gen) but because of my frustration with charging it recently, I am hesitant in completely recommending it.

SO I GOT THE IPOD SHUFFLE FOR CHRISTMAS AND I HAVE BEEN VERY CAREFUL ABOUT THE DOCK.ALMOST A YEAR LATER, THE POST OF THE IPOD DOCK BROKE AND BENT.NOW MY IPOD IS DEAD AND I CANT LISTEN TO IT!I WENT TO CHARGE IT AND THE SHUFFLE FIT IN THE DOCK AND I PLUGED IT IN BUT ALL IT DID WAS STAY BLANK.IT DIDNT EVEN SHOW UP ON ITUNES!WHAT DO I DO?

We have three shuffle, one Nano and 3 Touch users in our house, not to mention all the laptops and workstation. Everything has been flawless except for the shuffle chargers. There is clearly a design flaw here. We have gone through 3 and only one has worked OK--it's only 5 months old. And to replace them for a few dollars less than the original cost of the shuffle. That's a rip off, especially when Apple did not build these right in the first place. Apple: You should make it up to your loyal users by at least not charging so much for a replacement. Better: Make it right in the first place.

I have already gone through 2 iPod shuffle docks (in less than a year). They have not gotten broke or bent. They remain attached to my computer and never moved. They just quit functioning. I love my shuffle but hate that I will have to pay $29+ for a new dock. Shame on you, Apple. I am certainly not ordering a new dock nor am I buying a new shuffle... and I will certainly discourage others from doing so. I hate to even give this product 1 star.
