My dock also got stepped on by accident, and come on thirty dollars, just a simple one for $10 would be fine!! I use my shuffle so much that I can't go a day without charging it or it won't last through another 8 hour workday!!

Why a dock?

Is it just me, or is the idea of having a "dock" for a shuffle completely asinine? The dock only serves the purpose of connecting your shuffle to your computer, for charging or syncing. You can't control the shuffle remotely, nor can you even connect the shuffle to another audio source from it's "dock". On top of that, by having the connector stick up from the "dock", a right angle is created maximizing the fragility of the connector and giving the form factor the absolute best chance of breaking. Honestly, all that is needed is an 1/8"-to-USB cord...not a dock. Cut down on production cost and increase consumer satisfaction.

When the tip broke off my charger, i didn't realize it at first and spent the whole night trying to re-install itunes. I called a repair shop and they said it would be $70 to look at it. The 1 gig ipod is now $50 so i ended up getting one just to get the charger.

Watch out for extended warranty at electronics store. they don't cover parts that break off, only defective items covered.

This dock is cute and usefull and compact all at the same time i love it . i dont know what the others are talking about but yes the 3.5mm jack is flimsy i have bought 1 to replace the one that came in the box . i had my dock for 2 months for it broke but i bought another one even though the first one broke .

Well I guess I COULD keep the dock in the box and hide the box in some secret corner of my house, but I bought the shuffle to use it, and certainly didn't expect the thing to break off in my purse....I have a palm and a cell phone that I constantly toss the cables into my purse and have for over a year on a daily basis, so who would have thought the shuffle charger would have died after only a day. Yeah. I think I will be investing in something else rather than a new thirty dollar dock.

i recieved my ipod shuffle for Christmas last year (07) and i love it but the prong on the dock has already been broken actually it only bent just a little but it wont work i have children and they are rough on things thats how it got broke so i would like to see an upgrade on these things because it might start hurting the sell of the actual ipod shuffle

I got my ipod shuffle for christmas this past year and the headphone jack on the cord broke off yesterday and now i cant charge or sync my ipod.

I have had 2 different docks. The first one the prongy thing snapped off so I took the whole shuffle back, I got a new one then the dock broke again as the headphone adapter snapped off for a second time. I'm only 14 and I don't exactly have any spare money to pay for a new dock you're better off buying just a new Ipod. $29.00. What a rip off. Are there any other alternatives?

I didn't drop it, I didn't step on it, I just went to plug it in and it didn't work. I've had it for about 6 months, but the post seemed loose from the beginning. What kind of product breaks from regular use? I came here to buy a new one, but for $30? No way, never. I will look elsewhere or buy a different mp3 player altogether - that's outrageous.

I am seeing horrible reviews for the docking station; I can see how it can get broken easily if not kept out of a place to get knocked about yes, but its not like apple took plastic out of a dumpster and created the docking station. It is very delicate yes but it does its job and you just have be careful with it, or keep it in the box it came in like someone else said. I dont know what is wrong with everyone, I mean its not a throw about kind of item but neither is the iPod. Just be careful with it and it will be fine.

i dropped a shoe on mine and it broke, and I am thrilled to know that the dock costs HALF of an entirely new shuffle. woo-hoo! and why do I need an appointment to come and have merchandise looked at but I can walk right in with cash and you have no problem serving me. it's not like you have a store on every corner connected to starbucks.

Like everyone else, my charger post is loose or broken and the charger no longer works. I have borrowed my daughter unit to survive, but I refuse to play the replacement parts game. Next stop, a new unit made by someone who cares about product quality and customer satisfaction. I have had the unit for less than a year and need to spend more than half the cost to replace the charger unit. No way. Good thing this is not new car at that repair cost.

I really like the shuffle but the charging station needs work. I also broke the docking/charging station within weeks of purchase. I checked the online store and found that the shuffle I bought for 79.00 dollars is now 49.00 dollars. Then I searched for a replacement docking station and found the price was 29.00. My mathmatical powers of subtaction lead me to conclude the shuffle is only worth 20.00 dollars. What's up Apple? Please fix this problem so I can be happy with my shuffle again. Aloha

I've had my IPOD for 2 weeks and I put it in my suitcase on vacation when I got off the plane it was completely broken. Apple needs to design a better dock for the new shuffle... especially since it is not covered in the warranty.

My 6 year old lost her shuffle dock, so I decided to buy another one. Ironically, with the recent iPod Shuffle price cuts, you can get a new shuffle with a dock for $49, but if you want the dock alone it's $29. I can't believe the dock costs 60% of the price for a whole new shuffle. This dock should really be at $10-15.

Apple, please adjust the price accordingly.
