Apple iPod shuffle Dock
horrible
Written by MW from Orlando

I had my shuffle for less than a week and the charger is already broken. The charger is not worth half the price of the iPod.

Good Product

I've had mine for two years and have never had a problem. It's survived two cats that tried to eat the built in cable and the vertical adapter has held on for the ride through multiple moves and pets.

2nd Gen Shuffle
Written by JQ from Red Lion

I bought my shuffle well over a year ago and after reading all of the negative reviews I thought it only appropriate to give my 2 cents. I have had no problem with dock. For $30 I would probably not be giving as favorable a review had I needed to buy the replacement, but the original has held up fine for me. I will also admit the fact that this IPod dock is so propriatory is a little unnerving. I have, however, used my shuffle allot at the gym and on my motorcycle, using the dock often to charge and change play lists and it has held up well.

Argh. Functional but fragile.
Written by CL from Seattle
Jan 2, 2009
It's highly functional, adorable, and incredibly fragile. This is my second broken dock for this Shuffle, meaning that soon I will have spent more money on replacement docks than on the original Shuffle. Grr.
This would work beautifully if it lived in a consistent home, such as permanently attached to a desktop computer or only ever staying on a desk where my laptop lives at home. In the future, I will be doing exactly that. I love the Shuffle because I'm on the go, so I'd gotten in the habit of wrapping the cord and throwing the dock in my backpack's outer pocket so that I could charge it at work if I forgot to charge it at home.
The metal stem on the first one got loose and eventually stopped transmitting power. I figured I must have stepped on it at some point or something, so I got a new one and resolved to be more careful. Less than six months later, the stem (plug?) of the new one snapped in two at the halfway point between the base and the point. Lame.
I'm going to be purchasing the Griffin dock next, as it's cheaper, and it's going to be living on my desk at all times. Less convenient, but less expensive in the long run.7 of 8 people found this useful

Quality Rated Zero Stars

I had bought my daughter an Ipod shuffle, and within a week the dock was useless. The shuffle alone was pretty expensive for something so small, let alone having the dock cost just as much as the Ipod itself is crazy. Come out with a cheaper dock, this is really bad business!!!

terrible design-love the shuffle though!

Count me lucky that my dock hasn't broken (yet), but the ipod doesn't dock securely, so twice on my first time charging, then cord was bumped, ipod came undocked, and it shut down my macbook pro.

Truly Disappointing

The docking station is awful. It broke only a few days after I purchased it for my kids. I bought two of them and within days both broke. Now, they are upset and I am very disapponted. I can't believe they haven't addressed this issue especially after all the poor reviews! I didn't expect this from Apple.

Terrible design, non-existant customer consideration
Written by DD from San Antonio
Dec 24, 2008
I was starting to come around to apple products but $30 for a simple replacement dock/cable is pretty weak. If an item has a poor design, the company should make good by at least charging an appropriate amount for the replacement parts. My dock broke after only a few charges and it was on the desk...

Why?
Written by JI
Dec 16, 2008
Like everyone else, my charger broke. Why can't the design something that has the headphone hole but plug it into the wall so it is not on the floor and can be stepped upon? The replacements are $30 or even more. I just want to charge my iPod and listen to my music! Is that so hard?

I pod shuffle dock not the greatest
Written by PW from Lakewood
Dec 12, 2008
I bought my daughter a shuffle and in a matter of weeks not only did the post break off the dock, but the USB end of the cord had broken pieces of plastic in it and no longer will fit into a USB port on her computer (and yes I plugged in other cords in the port to make sure it was not the port). Seeing as the whole shuffle is only 50$ I may just trash her old one and buy her a brand new one. Apple needs to address this situation with a better design and at least an offer for discounts when this type of thing happens to other customers, which obviously has happened hundreds of times, C'mon Apple get it together!

Poor Design
Written by SM
Dec 8, 2008
Apple is so concerned with aesthetics, and they probably thought a dock looked nicer than just a simple wire that could be plugged in. Only problem is they sacrificed performance when creating this product. My dock has broken after only a month, and now I'm stuck dropping an additional 60% of the original cost that I paid (and those 50$ at least included both dock and shuffle). Apple needs to clean its act up with this product, its a poor oversight to create such a costly product, which is essential for the shuffle to work, with such little durability.

Apple iPod shuffle dock = waste o' money
Written by KB from Birmingham

If you bend the dock's pin even slightly, then get ready to cough up 30 clams for a new dock. I had a hard time figuring out why my shuffle wouldn't charge; the bend in my pin was so slight I didn't notice it until after several minutes of inspection. I purchased the shuffle b/c it's both convenient and affordable. Unfortunately, the dock's cheap design makes it neither since a new dock is almost as expensive as buying a new shuffle, and, obviously, it can't be used without a charging device. I'm shopping around for a replacement product; purchasing a new dock every few weeks or months isn't the quality I expect for 30 bucks (or from this company). C'mon Apple!

Really All You Need
Written by BB from Calgary

I don't know what all the complaining is about. Mine works fine and it is really all you need for an iPod Shuffle. They should eventually have the same connector as they do on all other iPods, but this is fine.

This is by far the worst product, you can see in Apple store (other reviews prove it).
What you need is Belkin Dual Rotating Charger,
or any dual charger for Shuffle.
They sell it on this site, it costs the same.46 of 54 people found this useful
