    Disappointed

    • Written by from Surrey

Like everyone here, I dislike the design of the shuffle dock as well. I literally had it for 2 weeks the upward pointed part of the dock that connects the ipod snapped when it was stepped on. I know it's not Apple's fault but its that everyone has that problem too. I agree with the other people here, $29.00 is way too expensive for a fragile dock. Just a suggestion, maybe Apple should replace the docks that broke. I recently bought a new shuffle charger on eBay for just 9 dollars. You could but 3 chargers just for the price 1 on Apple.
    Disappointed.

    mine too

My dock also got stepped on by accident, and come on thirty dollars, just a simple one for $10 would be fine!! I use my shuffle so much that I can't go a day without charging it or it won't last through another 8 hour workday!!

ended up buying a new ipod to get a charger...

    • Written by from Portage

When the tip broke off my charger, i didn't realize it at first and spent the whole night trying to re-install itunes. I called a repair shop and they said it would be $70 to look at it. The 1 gig ipod is now $50 so i ended up getting one just to get the charger.

Watch out for extended warranty at electronics store. they don't cover parts that break off, only defective items covered.

    $29.00 replacement charger

    • Written by

Like everyone else, my charger post is loose or broken and the charger no longer works. I have borrowed my daughter unit to survive, but I refuse to play the replacement parts game. Next stop, a new unit made by someone who cares about product quality and customer satisfaction. I have had the unit for less than a year and need to spend more than half the cost to replace the charger unit. No way. Good thing this is not new car at that repair cost.

iPod rocks, but not the dock

    • Written by from North Hollywood

Got my iPod shuffle as a gift about a year ago. I love my iPod, but whoever designed the dock needs to be taken out back and marched on over to Mcrsft. The tip of my shuffle dock broke and can't be repaired! Come on! Isn't that part of Product Design 101? Anything with protruding parts is asking for trouble!

    poor design for high cost

ok well when i first got an ipod shuffle for my birthday i was really excited!!! it has only been three month but already the dock has broken.

It was a chilly afternoon when my mother knocked on my bedroom door, interupting me from reading a good book. I thought she only wanted me to do soem kind of chore which i dreaded doing but what she said had nothing to do with me doing any kind of house work.OH no, it was bad news about my ipod shuffle dock for which i kept in the computer room. I was honestly shocked. I never thought that something of such high quality could break so easily!! So when i walked into the computer room to check it out i found that in truth, my dock thingy(dont now exact name for it, sorry) was bent. i tried fixing it but that didnt work and well, now i have to buy a new one!!i mean really i always thought that apple products were expensive for a reason. But really, how bad did this come out to be??? so now i have to buy a new one with MY money that i have been saving up just in case an emergency happened! so overall i think you should lower the price for the sake of all of us. thank you. :D

    Disapointing

i agree with the other reviews. I have had my shuffle for about a year now, and although it has survived many accidents, the dock has not. the headphone jack broke off. I am going to buy something other than this dock, because it stinks. Really, apple, make a dock or a cable or something that doesn't break when you step on it!

    Pod

Recently, August month, myself and a close friend both purchased ipod shuffles and both have experienced the same problem, our docks broke. Hers cracked inhalf, so for the past month we've been sharing the charger, not a big deal really, until my dock breaks not by physical damage. Also while browsing for a new dock on this site we discover the docks go for about $30 or so, about half of what i paid for the ipod shuffle system. The design is entirly flawed, how can they expect it to last if the prong is stuck out waiting to be broken

    My dock broke too!

    • Written by from Emerald Isle

I knew these things were so flimsy, so I didnt expect it to last long anyway but I was surprised to see all the reviews about broken docks. I guess i got go get a new one. It lasted almost a year.

    Me Too

Add me to the list of folks who like the shuffle and had the dock die. I've had it about 6 months and wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't SO EXPENSIVE!

The top of my prong broke off too. I have to buy another one! Is this the only way to charge the shuffle?

    the few good ones

    • Written by from Mount Pleasant

This message is for the few.. and I stress FEW of you who haven't had a problem with your dock. You get on here and talk about how irritated you are with all the people complaining, how it is their fault it's broke, and YOURS works perfectly. They don't have to be hit with hammers to break. My daughter's never left the desk, wasn't traveled with, or even unplugged, yet then somehow, the pin gets slightly bent, and it's all she wrote. This dock was obvioulsy poorly constructed, and every person who has a broken one has the right to complain about it without being blamed for something. I like the dock, just wish it was a little stronger. Have a nice day, hope you enjoy your non-broken docks.

    Cannot Believe This!

    • Written by from Clarksville

We used our dock two times and it snapped! We can't download anymore songs until we pay $30 more bucks. That's just thirty more dollars out-the-door. I bet the next one we get will be just as lame and pitiful.

Shuffle Protective Covers don't fit in Docking Station

    • Written by from Royal Oak

All the poor reviews about the docking station breaking...let's not forget about the inability to fit the shuffle with a protective cover in the docking station. Apple knows people are going to accessorize their shuffles. You can't fit the unit in the dock with any cover. I've had to resort to 'gulp' grinding my dock to fit the covered unit....hint..don't grind too far. There is a metal casing a couple mm below the surface :-(

    Better off getting generic cable

    • Written by from Medford

I lost my deck, so I bought a cable for $9 on another website. When I finally found my dock, it was bent in a matter of a week. Even when I bend it back, it didn't work. Seeing how the suffle is only $79, why does the dock cost so much. If you want this dock, might be cheaper to go to Fred Meyers and get it. No shipping costs.

    Dock failed

    • Written by from Smithsburg

I agree with many of the prior posts. I got my daughter a shuffle for Christmas, it stopped charging by March. I will add however that Apple replaced the whole ipod when I claimed warranty service and replaced the dock as well at no charge. I only hope that this one works or I'll buy a 3rd party dock/charger.

    Easily Breaks

    • Written by

Really like the shuffle but have to agree the docking station is not meant to last. I had mine to 2 weeks it fell off the desk and the tip completely bent. I tried almost everything to fix but looks like I am spending another 30.00 to replace.
