    Disappointed

    • Written by from Surrey

Like everyone here, I dislike the design of the shuffle dock as well. I literally had it for 2 weeks the upward pointed part of the dock that connects the ipod snapped when it was stepped on. I know it's not Apple's fault but its that everyone has that problem too. I agree with the other people here, $29.00 is way too expensive for a fragile dock. Just a suggestion, maybe Apple should replace the docks that broke. I recently bought a new shuffle charger on eBay for just 9 dollars. You could but 3 chargers just for the price 1 on Apple.
    Disappointed.

    Broken

The top of my prong broke off too. I have to buy another one! Is this the only way to charge the shuffle?

    Broken :(

    • Written by

Mine wasn't stepped on because I didn't clean my room, I didn't leave it in my backback, etc. (someone snidly replied somewhere else about I guess the fact that we are careless people...).

Mine fell off the desk. The prong broke. Guess I should have used duct tape so it wouldn't fall off (I'm assuming the response from the other guy...)

Loved it while it worked. No fixing it after it's broken. I found a cheap "generic" one piece. Love it.

If your not extremely careful it will break!

    • Written by from Williamstown

I just broke my second one. I travel very often and am addicted to my ipod so the dock had to travel with me everywhere and with the vertical pin i broke it again. So if you are going to leave it safely on a neat shelf or desk you'll be fine but otherwise it makes the shuffle so not worth it.

    mine too

My dock also got stepped on by accident, and come on thirty dollars, just a simple one for $10 would be fine!! I use my shuffle so much that I can't go a day without charging it or it won't last through another 8 hour workday!!

    poor design for high cost

ok well when i first got an ipod shuffle for my birthday i was really excited!!! it has only been three month but already the dock has broken.

It was a chilly afternoon when my mother knocked on my bedroom door, interupting me from reading a good book. I thought she only wanted me to do soem kind of chore which i dreaded doing but what she said had nothing to do with me doing any kind of house work.OH no, it was bad news about my ipod shuffle dock for which i kept in the computer room. I was honestly shocked. I never thought that something of such high quality could break so easily!! So when i walked into the computer room to check it out i found that in truth, my dock thingy(dont now exact name for it, sorry) was bent. i tried fixing it but that didnt work and well, now i have to buy a new one!!i mean really i always thought that apple products were expensive for a reason. But really, how bad did this come out to be??? so now i have to buy a new one with MY money that i have been saving up just in case an emergency happened! so overall i think you should lower the price for the sake of all of us. thank you. :D

    Cannot Believe This!

    • Written by from Clarksville

We used our dock two times and it snapped! We can't download anymore songs until we pay $30 more bucks. That's just thirty more dollars out-the-door. I bet the next one we get will be just as lame and pitiful.

    shuffle great, docking station not

    • Written by from LAHAINA

Received shuffle as gift a month ago and love the size and portability of it. Great for travelling, HOWEVER, docking station is not. Placed in in my laptop case and the prong bent, now it doesn't work. Guarantee this will break once for everyone, making the shuffle a $100 item. Really need to redesign.

    Me Too

Add me to the list of folks who like the shuffle and had the dock die. I've had it about 6 months and wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't SO EXPENSIVE!

    Dock failed

    • Written by from Smithsburg

I agree with many of the prior posts. I got my daughter a shuffle for Christmas, it stopped charging by March. I will add however that Apple replaced the whole ipod when I claimed warranty service and replaced the dock as well at no charge. I only hope that this one works or I'll buy a 3rd party dock/charger.

    Bad design

    • Written by from Milford

The dock does its job but there is that strong possibility of breaking. There should have been a regular iPod 30-pin dock connector on the bottom of the shuffle it would be more compatible with other products and would be more durable. I'm nervous it is going to break like everybody else's so I'm keeping it in a safe place until use. There should also be just a regular 3.5mm to USB Shuffle cable, those would be better.

    OK PRODUCT

    • Written by from Wheaton

My dock plug thingy(the place to plug the shuffel onto the dock) broke too! It was on top of the cumputer and when I took it down, it was bent in half! A simple plug, like the headphones, would be much eaisier, all you'd have to worry about would be one simple cord! Shipping on the new dock was preety quick thuogh, even if the price was a little hard.

    UGH!!

    • Written by from San Jose

Its good, but stupid! Step on it, leave it out.. it'll break.
AND I don't wanna pay 30 bucks for a new one. Thats about as much as an ipod shuffle WITH a new cable is..

    Not good for travel.

    • Written by from Auburn

I took it with me to California. I kept thinking about the pin breaking while in my bag. Sure enough it was broken when I got there. I had no way to charge it while away from home cause i wasnt going to buy another one away from home so it could happen again. Its perfect if you dont move the dock and only use the shuffle when your close to home. Dont travel with the wire cause it will break.

ended up buying a new ipod to get a charger...

    • Written by from Portage

When the tip broke off my charger, i didn't realize it at first and spent the whole night trying to re-install itunes. I called a repair shop and they said it would be $70 to look at it. The 1 gig ipod is now $50 so i ended up getting one just to get the charger.

Watch out for extended warranty at electronics store. they don't cover parts that break off, only defective items covered.

iPod rocks, but not the dock

    • Written by from North Hollywood

Got my iPod shuffle as a gift about a year ago. I love my iPod, but whoever designed the dock needs to be taken out back and marched on over to Mcrsft. The tip of my shuffle dock broke and can't be repaired! Come on! Isn't that part of Product Design 101? Anything with protruding parts is asking for trouble!

    the few good ones

    • Written by from Mount Pleasant

This message is for the few.. and I stress FEW of you who haven't had a problem with your dock. You get on here and talk about how irritated you are with all the people complaining, how it is their fault it's broke, and YOURS works perfectly. They don't have to be hit with hammers to break. My daughter's never left the desk, wasn't traveled with, or even unplugged, yet then somehow, the pin gets slightly bent, and it's all she wrote. This dock was obvioulsy poorly constructed, and every person who has a broken one has the right to complain about it without being blamed for something. I like the dock, just wish it was a little stronger. Have a nice day, hope you enjoy your non-broken docks.
