I bought the armband to run with, it works great while running and lifting weights, I haven’t yet encountered any problems or smells.

No problems with this armband. It works great. I wipe it off after every workout with soap and water and it doesn't smell at all.

I've had this armband for almost a year and love it to this day. I've had no problems with my nano skipping, falling off, or accessing it during my runs. I'm 5'0", 105 lbs, and have no problem putting it on. In fact, my hubby, who is 5'7" and 170 lbs, prefer to use mine. So, I think it's versatile for any body type. I just wish they'd upgrade it to accommodate a receiver. Then, this would be the absolute best nano armband out there!

I finally went and got one of the new nanos because my old mini is starting to give way and I'm severely disappointed with this armband. Aside from the smell (and don't tell me how to clean it... products shouldn't smell like this no matter what. Simple.) I feel like the thing is going to break on me. It hardly fits around my maybe-slightly-larger-than-average-but-not-freakishly-huge bicep. With the aluminum case there's no reason not to provide strong, well working "clip" style accessories such as those that are available for the iPod mini. The design isn't just about appearance, there's a lot of functionality there that isn't being taken advantage of in this generation.

i use is just to run and it works fine for me. i didnt really find any problems with it. i can understand why it might not work for some people with really small arms, but if you're less than 100 lbs, maybe you shouldnt be working out that much anyways

I think this case works great. I've already bought 2 in less than a year though because the sweating while exercising has given it a funky smell, but it works well. No problem with the velcro and fits my arm perfect.

I guess I was expecting too much. I bought an armband when I bought my first nano about a year ago. The smell was a problem, but I just throw it in the wash with the clothes I worked out in. Well that nano gave up the ghost a few months ago and apple replaced it for me under warranty. Because the older nano was slightly bigger, the new nano easily slips out of the armband. I eventually put the nano in the "skin" I had, then fit it into the armband. Even then I had to cut the skin a little so the wheel was accessible. I'll be buying a new band after I do some research. Don't want to make another mistake.

The hole for the ear fones (on the armband) don't match up with the one on the nano. Its is slightly off, which when positioned to fit the earfone jack, makes it crooked. So, you need to modify it with a pair of scissors. Just cut off the little piece on the end. then it becomes a perfect fit! Untill apple comes up with a armband specifically for the 2nd gen nano (one that is meant to be worn upside down for shorter earfones, with better velco or a totally different system to secure it, and better colors/material; black would be nice) this is probably the best one out there and the coolest looking one!
