I bought my macbook last year in Aug after always using PCs. Love my macbook and would never go back however I find it absurd that my battery is dead after 13 months. And when i say dead, i mean it will not hold a charge at all!

Apple always comes up short n batteries

Ive been a loyal Apple enthusiast since 1984. Owned the first Mac when it was only available to universities. Their form factors and designs are sexy brilliant and interfaces are intuitive.

Power, however, has always come up short, Whether it be the ipod, the iphone, and now the MacBook. I ve had mine for just about two years and the battery flat out failed -- and Im a very casual user, who often times takes the battery out to spare battery life while using AC power.

My brother's family has 3 macs -- all 3 batteries failed just after the first year.

Not sure why Im writing a review. Its not like you have a choice in power sources. Perhaps Apple is reading these posts and will realize they kep having practices that alienate their loyal customer base.

I am in the Marine Corps and have used my 13" white MacBook (2007) on my most recent deployment to Iraq. Not only has the MacBook itself been able to withstand the brutal elements and environment of a desert combat zone, but without access to reliable power outlets -not to mention the need to use multiple adapters- my battery performed as expected. People who write in negative comments and threaten to go back to PC probably haven't taken the time to read their manual. I have owned two other PC laptops, and they were useless. My wife owns a 1 year old HP 17" laptop and guess what? She wants a MacBook Pro now. The HP gets used by my 5 year old to watch Nick Jr! Learn your Macs, people!

    Sub-standard product at premium price.

Apple, a name which typically means best of class. God knows I love their products. So I have to wonder what they had on their mind when they chose this battery for their MacBook. What a dissappointment. I feel as though I have bought an Astin-Martin with a Ray-O-Vac battery. Apple, do us a favor, pay attention! Please don't sell sub-standard products, be it a battery or a cable. The worst part of all this is that I am forced to replace one sub-standard battery for another, most unfortunately to the tune of $130 dollars! Have some dignity, at least sell this "battery" at a low cost!

I go to MSU and always take my macbook around campus with me. I've had the macbook for 2 years now and the original battery still gets me an hour and a half with WiFi being on. Not too shabby considering how much I "abuse" the battery by leaving it to charge over night and using the computer while plugged into the wall. Also, $130 for a battery is cheap. My dad just had to replace his 3 month old Sony battery, which was $450!

    MacBook Battery Problem

SAY GOOD BY TO APPLE PRODUCTS FOREVER....I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER APPLE PRODUCT I WILL BE A SWITCHING TO A PC. I bought a Macbook back in DEC 2007 the first battery died after 4 months of use. It was still under warranty and the battery was replaced. The second battery lasted for about 6 months and was also replaced under the warranty period. My 3rd battery is now dead and apple will not replace it, they are wanting me to buy a new battery. Is Apple really that ignorant that they do not know there is a problem with their batteries.

I have had my macbook for over 2 years now and this battery is great! I re-charge my battery about everyday, so you figure about 730 charges later this battery still holds a good 2 1/2 to 3 hour charge! I love it!!

Love my MacBook & have had it for just over a year but suddenly the battery is completely dead & not charging. It has gone through 140 cycles. Have tried all the recommended Apple fixes but to no avail. Guess I'm off to the Apple Store tomorrow for a new battery.

    Lots of Misinformation

I have owned my Macbook for over two years now, and the diagnostic on the battery still rests at 95% health. With a little bit of knowledge and attention, these can provide cycle after cycle of full recharge and long operating times.
I have read a lot of reviews defaming the longevity of these batteries and booing Apple for not giving consumers another choice. I have also read misleading articles about how to best cycle or condition your batteries, and let me just say there is a lot of bad advice and misinformation out there.
The solution to the majority of lithium ion battery problems, however, simply comes down to a few easy steps. First, it's ok to use the laptop while plugged in to a power source the majority of the time - I should know, I do - as long as you follow the charging and discharging suggestions. When you put the laptop on the power supply, try to make sure you let the battery come to a full charge. It's ok if you don't get to 100% every time, getting it there once every couple of days or so will solve many problems. Likewise, allow your battery to fully discharge every now and then. If you've never seen the "reserve power" warning, your not doing yourself any favors. Again, it's not necessary every time, but once a week at least will ensure the maximum capacity of you lithium ion cells. (26 months - 432 Cycles... and counting!)

I purchased my MacBook in November, 2007. The first battery stopped charging in November, 2008 and Apple replaced it as it was just at the warranty timeframe. Now it's August, 2009, and I am currently typing this review with 36% battery power and the adapter plugged in. Guess what ... it's not charging. That's two batteries in less than two years. I love you, Apple, just not your battery.

I'm very disappointed with the battery. It's been less than a year since I bought my laptop and out of nowhere my battery won't charge any more and I have to replace it.. Interestingly enough I seem to be reading many similar complaints.. It's very frustrating because I take very good care of my laptop and there's absolutely no way to resolve the issue other than getting a new battery, not that there's any guarantee that it won't crash either

Not So Bad: 3 Years and Counting!!

I bought my MacBook in Summer of 2006. I've always left the charger attached whenever I use my computer, only rarely do I disconnect to use freely. I'm still using the original battery and haven't had any real problems, but think I'll need to be replacing soon. When I disconnect power drains fairly quickly, and when the status bar reads near 30% it dies suddenly. When I reconnect it reads 1%/2%... other than that we're still chuggin'.

I've owned my MB White for 30 months. The battery is holding up better than the Toshiba's and IBM ThinkPad's I've used (my employer's). However, I wish it had about one more hour of initial capacity (which I will get when I upgrade to a MB Pro).
The key to long battery life is to regularly run off the battery, depleting the charge.

Here's today's data from the system profiler:
" Full charge capacity (mAh): 5025
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 329
    Condition: Good"

I think my mac book is a terrific product. However, the battery life is not optimal....got about 14 months out of mine. Additionally, the plastic case has been splintering away and i had to buy a uniea hard case to keep it together. Fix this Apple folks.
