Reviews for Nike + iPod Sensor

I bought a couple of this item and love to use them installed in our shoes, mine and my wife's.

In such hot weather like Singapore, it is usually reluctant to spare time to go out for jogging. But after bought this, I love to do it now.

It's great product able to be found out in the market as well as iPhone and Macbook !

I see a lot of complaints about the battery life, here is a trick I learned from my switch easy sensor case:
if you look on the back of the sensor, there is a little round button, hold it down for 3 seconds and it will go to sleep. To activate it again, just hold it down for a second or two. Of course this is much easier if it's not in the sole of your shoe. I've had mine for over a year, and it's just low now.

This is an awesome device!

The concept behind this is amazing. You need to calibrate it at a gym for accuracy, and it is super easy. Once you put it into your Nike shoes, it is hard to get out. So, if you wear your shoes for things other than running, then it is a hassle to remove and reinsert the foam, and it will wear the battery out much quicker. I was under the impression that the sensor is motion activated, and if you carry it around in your purse then it could drain the life. My sensor has lasted over a year, but I am not an avid runner. I bought it for the walk to run program on Nike.com and it has helped motivate me alot. My neighbor is an avid runner, and she dislikes Nikes shoes. She sealed the sensor in duck tape and punched holes in the tape and she ties it in between her laces and shoe tongue. It works great and saves on her battery life, since she can remove it. That will be my next move, Nike shoes or not!

I have had the Nike + system for years. I can tell you that the first few weeks of getting everything to work right was a bit of a hassle. I don't understand why people are not getting the appropriate battery life out of the sensor. I run about 12 miles a week and my sensors (I'm on my 4th one) last at least 8 months or more. Ignore the comments about inaccuracies in distance. It's not perfect 100% of the time, but it's about 90% accurate. The last I checked, that was pretty decent. You do have to take the time to use the product right and calibrate the sensors.

I bought mine about 3 yrs ago & it's still working, its nice to have one of this.

The product is great! It has about 2 months of battery max. if you use it for every day's exercise. Just make sure you get the right shoe. I got a pair that had the Nike Logo on the bottom, but Nike + iPod Sensor requires a pair of Nike shoes with a
Nike+ logo on the bottom of the shoe.

To offset some of the other battery life issue comments/reviews, Apple and Nike both have a disclaimer that the sensor only has 1000 hours of active battery life = 41.67 days of continuous running; the replacement cost of $19 every 3 - 6 months is worth it for the technology that the Nike+ system uses, make sure you putting it to sleep when your done with it!! That should help too. Just exactly, what kind of reasonably priced technology is available for perpetual power to such a small unit? There isn't, I have had fantastic results with this product (Nike+ SportBand System) between functionality, battery life, and ergonomics

its a very good device, although I'm not very sure if its very accurate, but when doing distance and time it gets you motivated, specially when it keeps telling you how many calories you have burned! its works with the iPod 3rd generation and the forth one just fine. the battery life has given no problem at all, and i've had it almost a year!

To connect to your iPod u gotta be having it in your shoe and walking around when the voice tells you to do so in the nike app.

I spent several hours trying to get my brand new sensor to link to my iPhone. I kept getting the message to "walk around to activate the sensor". Finally I found a trouble shooting page on Nike Plus website with information that helped me solve the problem. USING THE TIP OF A PEN, PUSH THE SMALL BUTTON ON THE BACK OF THE SENSOR SEVERAL TIMES TO WAKE THE SENSOR UP. When the small button on the back of the sensor is PUSHED and HELD , it puts the sensor to sleep. When I performed this action, the sensor linked with my iPhone right away and seems to be working perfectly. I don't know why it was so hard to find this information on the website. So many people seem to be having this problem...

I have heard reports of people complaining of short lives in these sensors. Don't believe it, mine has been going since April without issue. Keep in mind the sensor is on when moving, so if you aren't running with Nike+ probably a good idea to take the sensor out or use a different pair of shoes.
