After buying this product at the Nike Outlet Store, I realized it did not work with my new 80gB IPod, which was only 6 months old. So I ordered a refurbished Ipod Nano ($75) to use exclusively for running with this system. After waiting for the Nano to arrive, I finally got to try the Nike Run system- I registered my product and turned on the sensor to try it out. I shook it in my hand for 15 sec to simulate running, and to see how the thing worked, and got excited when it registered distance. But the screen said sensor battery low, which I thought was strange.
I then turned it to sleep mode, because I had read reviews that stressed saving the battery power, plus I had that strange low battery warning. The next day I turned it on to go running and it was not recognized by my IPod, even after attempting to locate it and repressing the sleep button, in case it was still asleep.
I tried it again the next day, and its officially dead. And the warranty is invalid, because I guess the outlet store had it for at least a year.

All in all, $29.99 for the kit + $75 for the required Nano + 2 days of frustration = one dissatisfied customer. However, now that I bought all the stuff I'll probably end up dishing out the $20 for a replacement, even though it makes me furious to think of it. I just hope I don't get another dud sensor.

    NOT WORTH IT!

I am never motivated to write reviews, but this product is so bad I have to warn others. I bought several sensors, and went back and forth to the apple store multiple times with my two small children. Finally I met with a "genius" at the apple store, believing it could not be multiple sensors - it had to be something I was doing wrong. Well, same old deal - product still does not work. I guess I will be making my final drive back to hopefully get a refund.

    Great Product!

This device is great. I use the nano, so I usually buy the set but have purchased this individually when it has died. It is amazing. You must calibrate it for accuracy but if you know the distance of a short sprint or if you have a track you can calibrate on, it works great. Once it's calibrated it works great & gives you everything you need to know about your run. The website keeps track of it all and everything organized. Absolutely no complaints about this product!

    Good Product

I have read a few of the other reviews and some I agree with and others I do not. Mainly some people complain about a short battery life. $20.00 a year is not a bad price for something each year. Think how much your power bill is a month. Second, some people say poor desgin but I think with some off brand extra stuff I have a good fit for mine.

    Love the nike+

    • Written by from Mahwah

I got the nike+ for Christmas and I love it I can defiantly say I have ran farther and more since I have gotten the nike+. I think this is a great product. It is so easy to use you just plug the wireless receiver into your ipod and u are ready to run and at the end of your run you have how many miles you ran, how many calories burnt, what your pace was and your time. I am a nike+ costumer forever!!!!!!!

This sensor has lasted me more than 200 miles of jogging for a year! To me, any battery/sensor that can keep on chugging for so long is awesome in my book! I love nike+ it has changed my life and how I approach my workouts.

Can't use with my ipod touch 3rd generation

    • Written by from brooklyn

I called and asked and was told you can, but you can't use it with the newer model. So I wasted money shipping it, now I have to ship it back.

    Awesome until it stopped working

    • Written by from Saint Helens

I loved the Nike + iPod. I bought the Nike+ shoes. It was wonderful and then the device said the battery was low and stopped working. This was after about 200 miles. I went to a Nike store and bought a replacement sensor. It didn't work. I returned it for another sensor, it didn't work either. I bought my brother a Nike + iPod. His worked fine. I tried to use his with my sensor. It didn't work. I tried using his sensor with my unit. It didn't work.

I finally broke down and bought a whole new unit. I hope I have better results with this unit. I am saving all my receipts.

Love the Product! But it HATES the Earth!

    Non-serviceable with non-replaceable batteries.
I still don't understand why the same pimply-faced geeks who rant about global warming (yet do nothing about it except preach) are willing to let Apple skate on this issue!
Mighty Applons, make your devices end-user serviceable and they will be perfect!

    Keeps me going!

    • Written by from Vancouver

I've only had mine since October but it's been great to have a honest voice in my ear telling me to keep going. I find it's best to use all the available tools on nike+.com to really keep you on the road. My only beef is that I personally find nike shoes narrow but with the right socks I'm good to go.

    not so fantastic

    • Written by

I ran about 40 miles with it and the baterry died, went to the apple store they told me they don't sell the sensor separately although i found it here on the apple website. Anyway, it always the distance running isn't that fantastic, it can't really measure it, once it was a mile off!?!?!

Total Junk - Can I rate less than one star?

    • Written by from Scottsdale

Bought it in May and used it for a total of 43 minutes until an injury and the Arizona heat forced me to put away my running shoes for the summer. Now in September the sensor is dead despite religiously putting it to sleep (even though it's supposed to not need it).

    nike sensor

It works well with time and distance. However, it is defective on the calorie. Today, I was tired and sweating after walking for more than 18 minutes, but it said that I burned 0 calorie. It doesn't work well at all on an elliptical. In brief, it works OK. The price is a little expensive.
