I bought the product to work with my I phone, bought it on 8/13/09, and this morning it's not picking up 15 days exactly worked out with it 9 time less than 30 miles. Great product, but like most needs the battery issue worked out! I am so annoyed spent my morning trying to figure the thing out instead of running like I needed to do! I want a refund!!

And it died. Horrible battery life, now im forced to go to the store and buy it...again. Ive only had this for about 7 months and the battery is shot. Strongly suggest do not buy unless your gonna fork over another $20 for a new one in a couple months.

I bought this without knowing about the battery life and replacement policy. Foolish me, I figured that I could put a new battery into it when the time came.

It turns out that this device is a subscription for $19 about once a year. That's crazy.

I like the idea of this device but will look for something else to do the same thing. What a stupid design.

It's the sort of thing that makes me want to steer clear of Nike and Apple products. This is an offensive design and ridiculous pricing. Seriously, if it said on the front of the package that battery placement would be necessary at least once a year and that it would cost $19, would anyone buy the thing? Not me.

I have been using the Nike+ system for a year this April and couldn't be more pleased. As long as you read the directions carefully you should not have any issues. I have run over 700 miles with one sensor. My shoes have been water logged, muddy, and close to frozen but the sensor keeps going strong.

...certainly NOT environmentally friendly with this product. I bought the kit in June 2009 and the battery is dead in September 2009. I used it for approximately 200 miles. Now they expect me to fork out $19 plus shipping for another one? Horrible design. I have a cheap heart rate monitor that I can replace the battery (CR2032) when it dies, but if Apple thinks they can fool me into buying something for ANOTHER $20 needlessly, they're wrong. It's wasteful, bad for the environment, and entirely unreasonable. I'm cutting my losses. Google-map your run and get the mileage, compare against time and it'll probably be at least as accurate as this piece of garbage.

I am currently on my second sensor. The first lasted a bit over 1,000 miles of running. I now have around 1,200 miles on the second sensor. I don't do anything to aid in extending the battery life. I turned it off once before going on a flight (FAA Rules). I did not want to find that the Homeland Security folks tore apart my bags because of the radio transmissions from the sensor.

I run in rain, snow, frigid temps and summer heat. Never had a problem. This helps to keep me motivated to put in the miles. To me, it's well worth the $20 for a sensor.

I do not need motivation to run or workout. I feel the IPod Sensor is very inaccurate. On my first calibration attempt i walked a mile, and the sensor read .13 miles. the most i could calibrate it at was .35 so i did the best i could. I then ran a mile at an average pace, and it said I ran less than a half a mile. I calibrated it to .75 which was the most it would let me at the time. Since then i have been able to calibrate it to the distance i run. But i have to calibrate it is always anywhere from .25 to a mile and 1.5 miles off. Even if I run the exact same rout over again. I will give it a couple hundred miles, but if it does not start calibrating somewhat accurately, I will probably just launch it into the ocean with a sling shot.

The sensor could not connect to the receiver no matter how hard i tried and after extensive research online this problem occurred with many thousands of people online. I wouldn't recommend this because im out 30 bucks but im trying to save you the hassle.

After reading several of the previous reviews, I think that the purpose of this product is misunderstood by many users. While this product does appear to be susceptible to battery issues, I believe that most of the complaints come from people who are not serious runners. First, it is essential that you only use the shoes that contain the sensor for running. Otherwise, the sensor transmits for hours every day, which is not its intended use. Second, this product is not designed to be 100% accurate. If you calibrate the sensor effectively your distances should be close. Over a three mile run, my accuracy is usually within 5 hundredths of a mile. The Nike+ system is an excellent way to combine listening to your music with a way to establish and track your running goals. If you desire perfect results, buy a GPS-enabled runners' watch. They run about $300. Otherwise be content with Nike+ system, which comes with a nice set of features at a very affordable price.
