I have to give it a star?

    • Written by from Houston

I've been through five batteries in sisiyears and that's only because I'm not above turning this computer into a desktop in order to avoid buying another one. The only thing worse is the charger.

    Great while it lasts...

    • Written by from Newport News

Bought a 15" MBP in early 2009 - it's been just over 2 years and now I need a 3rd battery. I've let the battery drain often without leaving it plugged in and now it's not even recognized. The Apple store replaced my first one free of charge, but I seriously doubt they'll do it again.

    I want a refund!

    • Written by from Menlo Park

Within weeks I began to wonder if it was my old battery I had accidently inserted. It was not! within a couple more weeks my wife asked if it was the old battery - she NEVER notices these things. Within a month more, I was lucky to get an hour's use. Totally worthless, and at a 10% cost of a new laptop I was livid! Do yourself a favor, DO NOT buy this product!!!

I'd use no stars if I could.

    Disappointing product

    • Written by from MIAMI

I can ditto almost everything that other customers have said. The lifespan of a MBP battery appears to be little over a year, with normal usage, and, following all of Apple's maintenance guidelines. It's somewhat baffling, given the immense expertise, talent and innovation of Apple Inc., how such a poor product is continually offered with new machines and for replacements. I believe that the many loyal Apple users deserve better.

    No complaints

    • Written by from Plano

I bought my Macbook Pro 15 inch about 3 and a half years ago. The battery still gives me about 3 hours of useful time. The main thing is to turn the screen brightness down to the absolute lowest level you can work with. At home I keep it at about 50%. On airplanes when it's dark in the cabin, I turn it down all the way to the lowest level. It's still bright enough to work with or watch a DVD. The LCD screens take a lot of current, so turn the brightness down to save power. It also helps to simply leave the computer on once in a while and let the battery run down all the way to the point where the computer shuts down. If you walk away from the compute, close the lid and let it go into standby mode. Turn off Bluetooth if you are not using it. Turn off WiFi if you are not using it. Turn off the keyboard lighting if you don't need it.

Be very careful with replacement batteries. Second source companies will advertise batteries with higher ratings and lower prices, but buyer beware! If it sounds too good to be true, it usually isn't true. Cheaply made batteries can be very dangerous. And in spite of the great specs, they may give very poor performance. I don't work for Apple, and have nothing to gain if you buy a replacement battery from them. However, I think you will happy in the long run if you replace your battery with one sold by Apple.

    This is Sub-Apple standard

    • Written by from DOLLARD-DES-ORMEAUX

MBP Santa Rosa, recently replaced for free previous battery due to poor health by an Apple Store. New battery, 17 cycles 85% health, no overheat (laptop always 3/4 inch off table). Adapter unplugged when MBP powered off, and cycled once 1-2 weeks. On the go battery barely providing 1-2 hrs life. Remember that my latest one is new. Battery obviously catastrophically poor quality and sub-Apple standard. Or, maybe it IS the Apple battery standard aiming to have us buy again every x number of months? Not his cat, stores on my side and replacing it for free.

    Junk Batteries

    • Written by from Bakersfield

I am on my 4th battery in just over 3 years. All were replaced under my apple care due to manufacture defects. When they told me to calibrate the battery to make it better, it did nothing but make it not work again. I have been told that the new macbook pro batteries are better but that does not help me.

I am on my 3rd battery and that is because I mainly use my iMac now. These things don't last long enough for the price. Please drop the price so I can keep using my MBP

Dim your screen, unplug the adapter

    • Written by from West Jordan

Dim your screen, save power, battery lasts longer. Apple displays are EXTRA bright. Dim it down a bit and it's still a beautiful display.

Don't leave your computer plugged into the adapter all day, every day, and expect your battery to be unaffected. They last longer when the ions are moving around.

My computer has been on for 2 years straight (seriously, I've never shut it down, only restarts). I go through about 2 charges a day and just now my battery is starting to wear out (though I can still get 2.5 hours, compared the 3.5 I was getting when I first got it, so it's not dead yet).

    Only Lasts 6 Months

    • Written by from Seattle

I bought this battery 8 months ago and after 6 months it would only last about 30 min, then, without warning, the computer would just shutdown. I do not want to have to spend another $150 for a new battery so I just keep my laptop plugged in at all times. The battery will not charge at all now.

Worked fine, then it just died

    • Written by from Clifton Springs

My battery worked fine for about 1 year. I routinely fully cycle it and then one day poof! Nothing. Went to the Apple store and they said batteries are a "user serviceable part". After saying that 2 times I finally got the gist that "User Serviceable" means YOU PAY FOR IT! After asking what good was the extended apple care warranty I was told that it only covers "internal mechanisms and parts." I guess my battery dangles off the bottom of my MacBook. The worst part is this was the replacement battery I got because of the recall. Now I wish I didn't get the replacement.

Unfortunately I'm about to purchase my 3rd battery. The first lasted about 2 years...the second about a year...but 126.00 is too much for an item that isn't very high performing.

    BATTERIES COME ON APPLE

    • Written by from Act

I love apple, and mac is the biggest tool in my business, in i.t graphic design and photography and cinermatography, cause how versitile they are, (window's and mac work station all in one), but the problems i get is 1hr to as little as 5mins of battery life after 100cycles, charged discharged correctly, battery taken out when on ac for periods of time when its at 100% so it doesnt over charge, but now it doesnt charge, and the new battery shat it self also, then i find out of the battery replacing program nearly a year after, it finished and not to mention, my laptop has cooked it self twice and batteries keep buckling.. come on guys we need you to step up, you are doing a great job same prob with iPhones 6 replacements, and still, no longer then a day with light use...

    Bad Apple

    • Written by from Tamarac

I am so not happy with this battery. I bought my MacBook Pro and the battery lasted 2 years. In June of 2009 I bought a new battery, this one, and its now 11 months later and it is already diminishing. I'd expect Apple to have a better battery product and I was wrong. At $129 it should have lasted a lot longer.

    Bad Battery Hurts Apple Brand

    • Written by from Brentwood

Don't get me wrong, I'm a mac addict, but this smells a lot like the PeeCee world.

I'm seriously HATING what appears to be the battery that came with the Mac Book Pro 15. I now have to keep it plugged in or it gets EXTREMELY hot and shuts down without warning. Despite the fact that the battery shows an almost full charge (3-4 lights).

Did I mention that it gets extremely HOT. Not just super toasty like before. AND yes, I've followed all the battery care and fix recommendations.

Bottom line, the Apple brand is tainted by this battery. I feel forced to try another brand.

Please don't rate low because of your own ineptitude

    • Written by from oceanside

If your battery is over 300 cycles, it's expected that it'll be putting out significantly lower than a fully charged battery. Before dropping a low review, please click apple > about this mac > more info > power and see how many cycles there are. If it's over 300, your battery is consumed, so please don't complain. It's the nature of the beast. This is why it's such a big deal that the new 17" gets 1000 charge cycles on it's fancy shmancy battery.
