    Very disappointed.

    • Written by from South Euclid

I agree with other reviewers. Although I have been using Apple products since the IIgs and I love my MacBook Pro, I'm on my second battery in two years and it cannot hold a charge for more than two hours. I have 294 cycles on my current battery and my full charge capacity is 3672 mAh according to the System Profiler. This is too expensive to replace annually.

    First Apple Disappointment

    • Written by from HIALEAH

The battery has only gone through 91 cycles, and it has failed. The average life should be @ 300 cycles. Almost a year and half old, and Apple will not address due to the one year warranty. This product is quite pricey to only last for this long. Very dissatisfied.

    Terrible

    • Written by from Ottawa

These batteries are absolutely terrible. My MacBook, which is roughly 2.5 years old, has now gone through *5* batteries. One day they're able to hold a charge for a good hour or so and the next it can't handle more than a minute or so without power. I'm done with Apple batteries - I'm going 3rd Party from here out.

Early failure of MacBook Pro battery

    • Written by from cupertino

I bought my Mac the end of May 2008, several months ago it started shutting down without warning and had to be rebooted. I tried reseting the battery capacity and it looked like things were better but then it happened again. I then found the reported capacity and number of cycles the battery has been through in the About this Mac, more info area. The battery had 42 cycles and the capacity was about 2100 ma/hr. When it is new it is over 5000 ma./hrs. Warning check your battery before the 1 year warranty is up. I was told I didn't report this soon enough for Apple to help me.

    Unreliable

    • Written by from Ashburn

I typically leave my macbook pro plugged in to avoid battery use. I didn't expect after a year of use, that the battery would no longer hold a charge. The charge on the battery now last approximately 2hrs; not even long enough to get through a flight. I am very leery of purchasing another battery, and would rather put those money towards a new syste. Let's see ... replacing a better every year for the next three years at 120 pop .. ouch ... didn't see that coming.

On the bright side, at least the battery is not built into the laptop and can be replaced.

    BAD MacBook Battery

    • Written by from Montreal-Nord

I agree with you guy's, I bought my MacBook Pro July 2008 and its already dead, still can't believe it !

The battery lasted 5 years on my old Powerbook G4 and its still good for about an hour, I don't know what they have done with their new battery are really bad.

Worked fine until I started calibrating!

    • Written by from VALENCIA

Age of battery- after 1 month: lasted for 4 hours, after 17 months, lasted for 2.30 hours, started calibrating it, and now at 19 months it barely lasts 30 mins, after a mere 57 battery loads it's at 19% of original capacity. Out of warranty, only solution is a buying a new one of these batteries, which have such a bad reputation. Poor.

    Worst battery ever

    • Written by from Tallahassee

I have had my MacBook Pro for 11 months. At first I was so happy with this battery that was supposed to last 3 times a regular one and it did at first (lasted for 4 hours). When I unplugged my Mac I wouldn't plug it again unless the battery was fully discharged to assure battery's life.

Now after 11 months of using it and having really taken care of it doesn't last more than half and hour. I'm pretty upset because my warranty expired last month. Now I have to spend 130 dollars to buy a new one.

    These batteries are horrible

    • Written by from WASHINGTON

These batteries are horrible. The battery in my macbook pro lasts about 30min before it is out of charge. Yet the battery on my 2003 powerbook lasts almost two hours. I really do not want to buy a new battery, but I guess I will have to.

bad battery - bad customer service

    • Written by from Atlantic Beach

My battery has only 70 cycles on it and is down to half of the normal capacity
Odd thing is, after "upgrading" to snow leopard, the battery life really went from 3 hours to less than 2 hours.

Apple needs to fix this battery issue with the 15" MacBook Pro - PLEASE!

    MacBookPro battery

    • Written by from WEST DUNDEE

I couldn't agree more with the other users who have found this battery to be the worst! I, too, am on my third battery in as many years. I made sure to take special care with the second one, but it died even faster than the first. Come on, Apple. Surely you can improve on these . . . ?

These are the worst batteries I have ever had with Apple products. I have had two MacBook Pro computers and these batteries are much worse than the first generation ones.

    A battery per year

    • Written by from North Brunswick

Admittedly, I use my 2007 MacBookPro3,1 everyday for at least 5 hours. So battery consumption is heavy. Yet, I didn't expect to have to buy a $129 battery every year, since I'm contemplating buying my third battery in as many years as I've had the MBP 15".

I love Apple products and I'm loathed to trash such as fine company, but the battery for my MBP 15" is good for about 280 full-charge cycles. After that, if you want the benefits of having a laptop, buying a new battery is a necessity.

    The battery is a disaster

    • Written by from Bray

This battery is a disaster. This is my third (sic!) one I had to buy for m MBP. Every one after few months lost its status to about 60-70% (checked with iStat Pro). And even worse, it started to cut off the power immediately, without any warning! This is the worst Apple product (just after Mighty mouse) ever.

    Faulty product

    • Written by from Federal Way

I have 2 macbook pro laptop computers. They both had their battery replaced within a year. The second battery of one is still working fine now after a year, but the second one failed at less than 90 days. Batteries are not cheap. Apple quality is definitely NOT seen in this case. Apple, fix the product!

    complete waste of money

    • Written by from Tucson

I am contemplating purchasing my third battery for my PowerBook (not including the new battery I needed when the battery that came with my laptop was recalled for malfunctioning - go figure - but thankfully I did not have to pay for that). I've had my current battery for maybe a year and a half to two years, and it lasts not even a minute without the power source.

I bought my macbook pro 15 inch about one year ago and have been cycling it per directions provided. Lo and behold, the battery needs to be replaced ALREADY. 130 dollars down the drain, 20 dollars says it will fail in 6 months with the amount of processing power I use. Use your money elsewhere.

    Swollen battery

    • Written by from Edmundston

I have 5 macs in my house, and this is the first time I'm having problems with a Mac... Everything was OK with my Mac Book Pro battery, but suddenly, it swelled up really bad, and it is completely not usable anymore!!! Since my AppleCare Plan expired a few months ago, I have to buy another battery, and I think it is frustrating, because Apple knows that they have mojor problems with those batteries!!! The replacement battery should be free of charge!
