Pretty miserable. This was the third replacement battery for an aging macbook pro. It lasted 53 cycles, and less than 6 months. I won't be purchasing another.

    Not So Bad

I was, too, very upset at how my battery life has decreased to <4 mins. However, I've had my Mac Book Pro since Summer 2008. My battery has lasted far past the 350 charges guaranteed by Mac. Plus, I kind of abused my battery usage.
I'm about to order my second battery and I plan to try the "cycling" technique. I was doing this in the beginning but I soon became lazy with it. Therefore, I would recommend you just be watchful of your use. Don't over charge. Don't recharge until it is absolutely necessary (battery in red or computer shuts off).
I know this requires more care than an ordinary computer, but Mac is not ordinary.

I hate these things. I've bought two of these in the three years I've owned a macbook pro.

Absolutely terrible and over-priced. Most PC batteries are half the cost and last longer.

Such a shame to pay a premium for a laptop and then to get nickel and dimed on an over-priced battery.

My new battery lasted 4 months. Apple should be ashamed of this rip off. It looks like there are 800 people who basically feel the same way I do.

Within weeks I began to wonder if it was my old battery I had accidently inserted. It was not! within a couple more weeks my wife asked if it was the old battery - she NEVER notices these things. Within a month more, I was lucky to get an hour's use. Totally worthless, and at a 10% cost of a new laptop I was livid! Do yourself a favor, DO NOT buy this product!!!

I'd use no stars if I could.

    OVERLY PRICED GARBAGE

This is my second battery I have bought. It has yet to reach 300 cycles and already it is telling me it's running as a "service battery", which means it is running abnormally. I am in college and cannot afford to be spending $123 on a battery that won't last me more than a few months.
Is Apple paying any mind to this matter? This really is an issue that needs to be dealt with, and as you can see, I am not the only one who feels this way.

I've been a user of PC's and Mac's. In my experience so far 2 years is doing well. I currently have a 4 year old macbook pro 15" 2.16GHz. I am on my second battery. Two years on the first and two years and counting on the second. While I would like for them to last longer my experience with Sony laptop batteries has been about the same lifespan (really quite a lot worse with most dells), so I rate this as average.

Would love it if they brought some of the new battery technology in the latest gen laptops to this older form factor, but I know I am dreaming there.

This is why AppleCare is worthwhile.

I have a MacBook Pro 2.16MHz 15" (MacBookPro2.2) that is now more than 4 year old, but has served me very well and continues to do so.
However, this battery that it uses must be of a faulty design or have manufacturing defects (made by Sony?). For my Apple laptops, I always purchase the 3-year extended warranty and it pays for itself in replacement batteries. Over the past years, I have had two batteries replaced under warranty. Now, the latest battery has died and I have to pay my own way. I will keep the old battery for desktop use (as a UPS) and just use the new when I'm on the road. I am mostly stationary - plugged in - surf the Internet, do photo management with Aperture, watch my iTunes TV-shows, and cycle my battery - what am I doing wrong? I suspect the battery is overheating: cooked.
I just purchased another brand new 15" MacBook Pro for work and I sincerely hope the new type of battery is more reliable...

These batteries are not robust - even when careful about limiting the number of cycles and charging fully, they do not last very long - maybe a year if you are lucky - before they lose their full charge in less than an hour doing simple tasks. I am about to start on my third battery in 3 years and the one in there now can't even hold onto it's dwindling charge long enough to warn me - the computer will just lose power. As part of an otherwise fabulous machine, I am angry I have to buy yet another one of these.

    Two years - three batteries

Title says it all. Battery is a total money sink. I use my computer everyday for work and school. Terrible, terrible, overpriced, useless product. Honestly, considering the horrendous customer service, the fact that my speakers, screen, internet, keyboard, and power cord have had to be fixed or replaced, and three batteries in two years.... apple products are vastly overrated.

I'm having a MBpro (spring 2008) and it is still running with its original battery.
The battery has now over 440 cycles and still gives me over 3hrs when fully charged.
Though, this is just about half the load it could hold when it was new (6hrs). Guess I'm facing a swap to be made soon, but since I'm not using this MBpro for traveling, I can wait a little longer.

Bottom line, 3 years, >440 cycles, not bad for a laptop battery. Mine also doesn't get extensively warm and it did not deform at all. Hope I have similar luck with the next battery.

    Disappointing product

I can ditto almost everything that other customers have said. The lifespan of a MBP battery appears to be little over a year, with normal usage, and, following all of Apple's maintenance guidelines. It's somewhat baffling, given the immense expertise, talent and innovation of Apple Inc., how such a poor product is continually offered with new machines and for replacements. I believe that the many loyal Apple users deserve better.

On to my third battery like so many others that have complained... IS ANYONE AT APPLE LISTENING? Have been a loyal Apple purchaser since 1982 -- worse product ever owned. Hope the internal batteries fair better. Apple leadership would be wise to fix this & rebate to its customers. APPLE -- LET US ALL KNOW YOU ARE LISTENING & HAVE A FIX!!!

    A Terrible Product!

This MacBook Pro battery amazes me -- for all the wrong reasons.

I'm amazed that Apple -- in spite of the hundreds of negative reviews and very poor overall rating -- has not seen fit to improve this product. You'd think by now they'd have put more time into it. It's a very, very expensive battery and, yet, it's virtually worthless.

I'm also amazed a product this poor got past Apple QC. It should never have been released in the first place.

I'm about ready to obtain my third battery for my MacBook Pro. The first one had to be replaced, and was covered under warranty. The second one hasn't fared any better. It dies in less than an hour (and heats up like a mama if I use it without a cooling device under it). Now, I need a third battery, which means I'll have to buy this one. At $129, this is a major purchase. But, then again, most of Apple's products are outrageously expensive.

If there was a way NOT to use this battery, I would. But what good is a laptop that I can't use apart from the power chord?
