Have always loved Apple... until now!

    • Written by from Lansing

I replaced my original battery for my MacBook Pro (purchased August 2007) this past December (2010). It has recently stopped working (after 7 months!) and I was told it has no sort of warranty or replacement. It went from near perfect health (I barely use my computer any more) to dead as a doornail. Needless to say, I'm not pleased.

Amazing battery life with proper care.

So far, I am very impressed with the battery for my Macbook Pro.

I am a very heavy computer user. I literally use my computer(s) for 14-18 hours a day. I previously had a top of the line Asus laptop (that cost more than my Macbook). Within a month of constant use, like my Macbook Pro has gone through, I was down to 30 minutes of use from a charged battery with the Asus. With constant use, I still get an entire day out of my macbook, unless I am gaming. It's been through 39 cycles and it still is holding 98% of it's charge. Given a steady rate of battery decline, I'll be ~25% ahead of the lifetime estimate that Apple gave by the time I need a replacement.

I have had my macbook pro since 2006, the computer works great but this is my third battery, they are not cheap at $160, batterie keeps it charge for about 2h average, not enough.

    Shame shame shame, Apple!!!

    • Written by from Spring Creek

Who the heck cares if you have an amazing product if there is no decent battery to make running the sucker possible?! A brand new battery, at $129.00 smackeroos, should last more than a few months! I don't have tons of money to toss around at random and spent an awful lot of time saving up for my dream laptop. The laptop works great-but only as a desktop. After battery #2, I give up and flat out cannot afford more batteries for this computer. This battery is not up to the standards I expect from a Mac. I sincerely hope that Apple will release an updated battery or updated software to make it work.

wow ... pretty bad this battery does not last

    MacBook Pro 15" 5,4

I have not even reached a 250 cycle count and the battery will no longer charge.

That's quite pathetic really. We have old Toshiba laptops at the office that are many years old and the batteries still hold their charge

Within 2 years my hard drive failed and my battery is done. Seriously?? When you spend $2,400.00 on a laptop you hope to at least get a couple years out of it before it starts failing.

I love the Mac OS but the hardware is nothing short of garbage now. Apple, what happened?

I think a lot of these reviews are user error

I still get roughly 130-140 minutes out of my Macbook Pro 3,1 that has its original battery. When it was new I got 200-240 so it has dropped considerably but I think that most people keep their laptops plugged in continuously and this kills the batter much quicker. I'm well past 600 cycles and will buy another when the life drops below 90 minutes. I always let it drain to 5%-15% before charging. I have to state that I'm not an Apple apologist, I bought an Android tablet instead of an iPad and am thinking of getting an Android phone when my contract with AT&T is up but I just can't believe that I managed to get the best battery of all shipped with my MBP. Now if you want I can complain about the super drive that can't read half the discs I put in it but that wouldn't be about the battery now would it.

    worst battery ever...

Since decembre 2006, I'm already at my 4th battery. And this is the state of this last one as reported by the system profiler:

    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 2012
    Fully charged: No
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 2508
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 417
    Condition: Replace Now
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): -2035
    Voltage (mV): 11315

"Replace Now" again....what a bad product..

    Bad Battery...Bad

    • Written by from new york

Wow, this battery is my second and I must say I am disappointed. It's just over a year old and now if I am not paying attention my computer will shut off with no warning of low battery. I still have an old g4 laptop with the original battery that works like a charm. What happened to the quality? at 129$ i expect a little better performance than one year. If I could give 0 stars I would.

0-stars MacbookPro battery is not worth $10.

    • Written by from Altadena

This should have been recalled. I'm on my third one. They don't last more than a couple months. I fully drain and charge at least a couple times a month and I hardly run on just battery alone, but they just don't work. I don't really know what the point of writing a review is, because there is no other choice of battery to buy. Love all mac product, but these batteries should've been scrapped in the beginning. I give this 0 stars, but in order to post this they make you click at least 1 star.

    This battery won't last.

    • Written by from Hyde Park

This battery lasted not even year for me. The warranty on it is for 90 days... just another way for apple to take money from you every year. So much for customer satisfaction.

battery stops working properly after about a year +/- a few months

    • Written by from BEVERLY HILLS

I had bought a replacement battery after my first one just started to lose power suddenly without going into sleep mode and after about a year a few months (just out of warranty of course) the same thing happened. These batteries seem to die fast.

I got the 2nd battery for macbook pro for a few months, left it there for about a year not using during that time, and it's already dead. This is not acceptable! :(

    Great while it lasts...

    • Written by from Newport News

Bought a 15" MBP in early 2009 - it's been just over 2 years and now I need a 3rd battery. I've let the battery drain often without leaving it plugged in and now it's not even recognized. The Apple store replaced my first one free of charge, but I seriously doubt they'll do it again.

    Defective product

    • Written by from Montreal

Second battery here, same as first, useless after a few months. This new battery bulged so much it does not physically fit in my laptop. I spent a lot of time with Apple customer support on this and always get the same answer: "The bulge is a security feature, we advise you to buy a new battery". He he, funny. Sure I want to get burned a 3rd time...

Apple, you consistently get one star review from real users on this because we cannot give it a 0. Fix your defective products.

    battery & charger...

    • Written by from Nashua

dissapointed with apple's products life, ... and i very much like them, but the fact that it seems that they're made to last only 3 years, and just after passing that 3 years barrier they start to fail in every possible way is quite disappointing. the charger stopped doing its job just 2 weeks ago and i had to buy a new one, and not even a week after, the battery is dying! and is not like they're cheap to replace....
it makes me think if i'd buy a new macbook pro when i replace this one or get an equally powerful computer for half the price... :(

stone dead in less than 6 months

    • Written by from Santa Barbara

My battery completely died in less than 6 months of minimal use and TLC in a clean, cool environment. It was stone dead - wouldn't charge. I can see no reason for that failure. At least Apple replaced it without question under warranty. The new battery is working fine so it wasn't the computer.

    Its a battery, not a nuclear power-plant.

    • Written by from Medicine hat

About 2 years of service for the original battery. Little low considering most batteries get a 1000 cycles before they are toast. My LG laptop got 3 years, but considering i use my macbook 5 times for every time i use my LG its understandable.

Would have thought i'd see longer life span or a recondition feature for the battery for ease of maintaining its life. About the cost of a battery id expect maybe be nice to see it for 100$.
