I am new to macs, but I will NEVER GO BACK! I love this battery. The meter built into the battery which is really cool. I really like how it is lit when it is charging and I can just plug my laptop in and see when it is done charging.

I do think there could be a battery battery life and a better way to keep the cells alive than cycling the battery.

My battery is finally dead after 2 and a half years. I have 413 cycles on it and still have full capacity 65336 mAh but alas, batteries lose their charge retention over time. It fully charges, but it uses the charge in less than 20 min. It can be frustrating, but most people use a battery to about 200 cycles. Stop complaining people about your batteries because you use them improperly it's not Mac's fault. Plus, the MacBook Pro is hardly a "laptop" computer. It has more capability than most desktops used by the average person. The battery is not meant to be the sole means of powering it up all the time. Plug it In!!! you will notice a much better performance if you keep it plugged in when you are doing graphic intensive programs.

The battery is an essential part of the entire MacBook experience. Without the battery the portable needs to be plugged in all the time. With the battery the portable can be used away from a power source. I use my battery frequently when I'm out of the house and can't find a convenient power outlet, on public transit, or just moving from room to room so I don't have to sleep the computer.
