    Pretty good battery, but

    • Written by from Westport

I purchased my MacBook Pro in early July 2008. I have not had a single problem with the battery so far. I have heard of older battery packs "expanding" and having to be returned. Mine has not, yet. For battery life, just cycle the battery every month and I still get around 5 hours (I can squeeze 10 under certain settings). The only thing I don't like is the price, it just seems way to much for an extra battery.

Maybe It's You Not The Battery

    • Written by from Al Marsa Floating City

I've had my MBP for 2 years and still have the original battery. Still getting more than 2.5 hours from each charge. Perhaps spending 10 minutes with the manual that came with your machine and actually reading the tips to maintain battery life would be useful. I did and I'm quite sure it's why I haven't had problems. I doubt I've been so lucky to get that 1 in a 1000 great battery.

    no problem

this, just like with any rechargable battery dies over time. Stop complaining, if u dont like it go and invent some other way of powering notebooks. If u want your battery to last longer then take it out when your notebook is just sitting on your desk and you have it plugged in, this will increase it's life

Something is obviously going on with the way you are using you batteries. My battery's health is at 80% after 410 cycles, and it still lasts a while.

Almost all of my friends have killed either their battery or whatever hardware is in charge of power management by using the incorrect charger on their computer. If your friend also has a mac, do not use his charger unless it is the same wattage as your own. You will regret it.

    Great Technology

I am new to macs, but I will NEVER GO BACK! I love this battery. The meter built into the battery which is really cool. I really like how it is lit when it is charging and I can just plug my laptop in and see when it is done charging.

I do think there could be a battery battery life and a better way to keep the cells alive than cycling the battery.

Battery Life is fine if you use it right

    • Written by from Newton

My battery is finally dead after 2 and a half years. I have 413 cycles on it and still have full capacity 65336 mAh but alas, batteries lose their charge retention over time. It fully charges, but it uses the charge in less than 20 min. It can be frustrating, but most people use a battery to about 200 cycles. Stop complaining people about your batteries because you use them improperly it's not Mac's fault. Plus, the MacBook Pro is hardly a "laptop" computer. It has more capability than most desktops used by the average person. The battery is not meant to be the sole means of powering it up all the time. Plug it In!!! you will notice a much better performance if you keep it plugged in when you are doing graphic intensive programs.

    Throw Off the Shackles

    • Written by from Port Orchard

The battery is an essential part of the entire MacBook experience. Without the battery the portable needs to be plugged in all the time. With the battery the portable can be used away from a power source. I use my battery frequently when I'm out of the house and can't find a convenient power outlet, on public transit, or just moving from room to room so I don't have to sleep the computer.
