    • Written by

I've had my macbook pro for about 2 years now and it as been through war.. Literally, I purchased it while I was in Iraq. 2 years, I think that its lived its life. So, now my battery is dead and Im definitely going to look into the cycling procedures after I purchase my new battery. I love my mac though!

    No Battery Problems Here.

    • Written by from NORTH WILDWOOD

I've had it for about a year and haven't had any problems. When I do use it without the plug if I have a FULL charge I get a good 3 hours or so...

I think maybe some of the problem with these batteries may have been people who didn't break them in properly. I used my unit as a Desktop Replacement so it was almost always plugged into the wall the first couple months so perhaps the battery got the right charge in the beginning.

I think people who didn't properly charge the battery from the get go but instead started toting it around like it's some form of nuclear fission might have something to do with the problems you are having... Buy a New battery and leave it plugged in for a week or so and then come back and tell us that you get 30 minutes... somehow I doubt it..

If you abuse it early, that's what you'll get... it's the same with any product.. a power drill, a camcorder... etc.... these things need to get used to having a solid charge before you test them.

    Long life

    • Written by from Hewitt

I've had good luck with my rechargeable battery after initial batter was replaced ( battery recall) over 5 years ago. Apple sent my current battery (at no charge of course) and in less than 24hrs - it's worked rather well.

    Mac Book Pro 15 inch

    • Written by from Merritt Island

Just to let reader know I purchased my Mac Book Pro Thanksgiving 2007 and I still have the original battery and on a full charge I get 2.5 to 3 hours before the battery dies. I have used this computer everyday for several hours and have run the battery to empty many times. With another Apple product my iPhone bought in 2008, Apple exchanged the phone because the battery life was only 2 hours, now I can go all day on standby with more than 2 hours talk time. So even great companies produce defective items every once in a while. I hope this helped.

    Three Years

    • Written by from Wilmore

I purchased my MacBook Pro almost three years ago and am just now having any battery issues. Now it will only hold a charge for about an hour. I think three years on one battery is pretty good. The battery on my PC laptop before this didn't last that long.

Buying a replacement, but good battery

    • Written by from Spokane

My battery just died and won't recharge at all, but it lasted for 2 1/2 years of almost continuous use, so all in all I am pretty satisfied.

    It has worked for me.

    • Written by from Las Cruces

I have had portable computers from their early days. These batteries keep getting better and better. I've had my MBP for more than 1 1/2 years and it has worked great. The battery has finally died. Such a pity that stuff doesn't last forever. I don't like having to shell out $129 for a new battery, but not having a battery would be worse.

    Good price!!!!

    • Written by from Siloam Springs

I got 347 cycles out of my battery! I have had it for over one year. If all I have to pay for a years use of battery is $129, i would say its worth it! If you use your computer every day you only spend about $0.35 a day!!!! Very Pleased!!!!! just follow pre cautions and instructions!

    it's still up and running

    • Written by from Paw Paw

My computer is two years old. I bought it refurbished. The battery has 520 !!!!! cycle counts and keeps my computer powered up for two hours or so. Of course it's not 5-6 hours as the new macbook pros but pretty good. It says: 'Replace soon' but it's been saying that since the cycle count reached 450.

a little hot but still going strong

    • Written by from Colorado Springs

The reviews all seem to be a little over wrought but I have been an obsessive cycler and still have "88%" health after nearly a year + and 158 cycles. I do make a point of cycling through the charge. I still get at least 2 full hours of a movie and sometime use this to determine the actual endurance of the battery. This thing does get notably hot and Apple should address this.
I am quite satisfied with this product and would buy it again. I will be buying another battery for a trans-pacific trip and will crab about the new one if it has problems.

    Not that bad...

    • Written by from Herndon

Bought my MacBook Pro in July 2006 and am just now replacing the original battery. It has 352 cycles and gets about 1.5hrs of run-time. This is not that bad of a product.

If you treat your product well, it will treat you well.

    MacBook Pro Battery Life

    • Written by from Woodland Park

My original MacBook Pro battery is 21 months old with 355 cycles and still shows 79% health. I have calibrated about every 2 months and do not leave the charger on longer than needed. I have the Energy Saver set to "Normal" for both Battery and Charging settings. So far this battery has performed well for me. It will be interesting to see how much longer it will last.

I've Used Lots of Notebooks PC & Mac

    • Written by from LEXINGTON

I’ve used and use MacBook, HP and Lenovo notebooks as part of my job and at the 1 year mark a battery on any of these computer can only muster up 45% of their potential. The batteries inside a Mac, HP, Lenovo, Sony, etc.. are all made by the same couple of manufactures. All computer batteries degrade at about the same rate. By 18 months you need to purchase a replacement, that is life or should I say that life of a battery.

Learn How Batteries Work People! Good Battery.

    • Written by from Wilmette

People, you need to realize that batteries in all consumer devices are expected to last for around two years under normal usage, especially with laptops. I look at all of the reviews here and complaining that the battery in a couple of months, that is understandable, but when you guys say that it died after two or three years, it's expected life span no less, and you give it one star because it died, you are underrating a fairly solid product. I've gone through two batteries and my MacBook Pro is about five and a half years old, two batteries is understandable, they both lasted a bit over two years, I'm fine with that.

Four stars because it's not perfect, since the exposed plastic panel on the bottom is coming off and has been for a while.

The battery life all depends on what you use it for, I've had mine for over a year and I haven't had any problems with it, ya it goes down after a while but thats natural, and I keep mine plugged in pretty much all the time, battery issues are not a good enough reason to get a different brand of laptop, the main reason to get a Mac of any kind is because they are the most reliable computers they have less then half the issues PC's have. Back to battery usually watching a movie will give you about 2-3 hrs, at school typing notes maybe 3-4 hours, playing Sims only about 1 hr. The cycling thing is good, I can agree with it but I would suggest if your using it constantly during the day let it die while you sleep. Hope this helps! :)

    not that bad

    • Written by from Murrieta

I've had my macbook pro for about 17 months, its gone through about 440 cycles and is still at 62% battery life. I can get almost 2 hours out of it and I use it heavily, day and night. At first I thought it was bad but after reading other peoples reviews, mine is still doing fine. Well there are times when I do run the battery until it's fully gone, so I'm guessing it helped it a lot.

    typical battery, typical usage

    • Written by from oromocto

as usual, battery worked great. usual steps need to be taken such as, regular discharge / recharge. my battery's last me 2 years usually of heavy heavy usage i discharge and recharge once a day or somtimes 2 times a day.

battery did not run hot at all. charge nicely and operates fantastic still after 180 charge cycles (still 83% capacity)

have a total of 3 batterys. all work great. you must follow the battery care steps...or you will end up with a dead battery soon.

    Pretty Good To Me!!

    • Written by from Philadelphia

I bought my MacBook Pro last May (so I've had it for 9 months now), and its battery works fine. I get 2 1/2 - 3 hours on it. My battery still charges 100%. My computer never turns off. I make sure that i don't leave the adapter plugged into the laptop until the battery's charge is down to 40% or less, then I unplug it once it's recharged. I think the key to keeping your battery new is to drain it sometimes. Try not to charge it while it's already fully charged because that reduces it's life.
