Dead, again. (Apple admit the problem please. be responsible!)

    • Written by from HK

My 15" MBP is 2 years old now, the first battery die after 4 months. Apple replaced a new one for me.

However this one died after 1 years later. Only 60 charge cycle! I do calibrate it once a month.

The max. cap. dropped to 2500 mAH. AND it would sudden shutdown.

Hay Apple, extent the warranty please. It just not works.

    Macbook Pro Battery

    • Written by from Franklin

Let me add to the many complaints that the Macbook Pro battery goes bad after a year. I am ordering a new one for a barely 1 year old 15 inch MBP. Seems to be an epidemic. Does Apple care.....?

    worthless

    • Written by from McDonough

worst product ever made. after a year the battery will only last 20 minutes and turns off randomly. DONT BUY A MACBOOK PRO IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT THIS. There really does need to be a recall or at least not charge us this much for another battery.

    Flawed design & poor service...

    • Written by

4 mo ago the 5+ MBPs my company purchased started shutting off w/ 50%+ of a charge left. A call to Mac-support to have them replaced informed me that although there is a recall going on, and the symptoms match perfectly, they are un-fortunately not qualified and considered 'consumables' b/c we've had them more than one year, even though the problem has been happening for months.

Each MBP can still charge up to 100%, is considered 'Healthy' and has ~100 cycles on the battery. In addition, the battery doesn't run out of charge quickly, or anything like that. It simply shuts-off (un-cleanly, not "I'm going to sleep now") at specific charge levels (mine does it at 90%, some last till ~70%).

Despite the effort and care put into the design and construction of much of the rest of the MBP and OSX, the battery seems to have been completely neglected. In the future I'll run OSX, but it won't be on an Apple product. If I'm going to have to pay $120+ for a new battery each year, I'll do in on a laptop that doesn't cost $2000+.

15 inch battery is a 16 month dud

    • Written by from Fremont

Upon scanning the reviews on the site I figured i'd too add to the data points. My mac was bought march 2007, and i've purchased 4 batteries - all 4 are showing a 30 percent usage hit to them - 4 batteries lasted me 6 hours on the plane. While I wonder if there's an issue with the macbook itself and not so much the battery, at the end of the day, given the price tag of $129 for a battery life that competitively comes in at the lower end of the spectrum, it's too bad Apple is putting out sub par products.

I have to lend my voice to the frustration with battery life. I love Apple. I love my MacBook Pro. Even after extensive calibration and tons of time spent on blogs and boards trying to figure out how to help the situation, I really think it's hopeless. Apple: Please improve the battery situation.

This battery worked great... until it stopped working.

    • Written by from NEW YORK

Don't tell me about following instructions. This battery sucks. It has stopped working about 5 weeks after the purchase. Having swelled in size, it no longer can operate for longer than 2 minutes (with wild fluctuations in amperage). The worst part is that a replacement is un-available in the parts of the world that I'm travelling. I would not call this a 'road warrior' tool... more like a liability. I'm dissapointed that this beast was 'let out of its cage' without warning. Those of us who operate globally need to have reliable tools. My experience is signifigantly different from my expectations. Perhaps I should re-evaluate my expectations of this product line.

    Not the best

    • Written by

You'd think that with such a great computer the battery would be better than it is. I've bought 2 within a year and a half. The last one only lasted a few months. This is a serious issue and Apple needs to do better by it's customers, especially if they are exclusive in what they make. I nam disappointed.

    Worst apple product ever

    • Written by from Iowa City

Like others, I had Apple Care and they replaced mine diligently 3 times with fresh one. The last one about a year and half, and it reached about 200 cycles and show "Service battery". The battery hold about 2-3 hours, now it reaches 260 cycles and no longer able to recharge, with capacity only about 1900mah. Out of warranty and I doubt that Apple would replace this time since the new one would be the same S... and I'm afraid to buy new one, they are definitely share the same trait.
Someone needs to bring this to class lawsuit for this type of problem.

    Just plain bad...

Purchased one of these batteries approximately one year ago to replace the original, and now its dead after 59 cycles. Extremely poor design and performance from it, but replacing the battery is much cheaper than replacing the laptop. Somehow thats not much consolation...

Horrible Battery, Second One That Has Died in a little Over 2 Years

    • Written by from WARREN

I just thought I'd warn everybody about this product. This is now the second battery I've had in a litlte over 2 years and the battery doesn't remotely hold a charge. As soon as I take it off the charger the entire laptop dies. On top of that, the green LED's on the back do not light up at all indicating very poor health and the laptop even reports that the battery is not installed. The battery worked for maybe 9-10 months and for the price this is a horrible product. I think it's funny that even after everybodys horrible review of this product Apple continues to try and sell it, fail, in my opinion.

    An unahppy customer.

    Horrible battery

    • Written by from San Francisco

This is the second original Apple battery I have had in less than 3 years. The first battery I had lasted under two years and about 400 cycles. At it's best, it gave me a little over two hours of battery life. The next battery lasted one year and one day (and less than 100 cycles). I contacted Mac and they said that since it was beyond one year they wouldn't replace it (I'd complained earlier that the battery was defective as I never got more than an hour and a half of battery life). Piece of ****... getting an imitation now for half price and hoping for the best. No more Mac products for me.

    Bulging battery/dead battery

    • Written by from Jenison

Having purchased my first & only 15" MPB in December 2006, I'm just about to purchase my 3rd battery. After I heard about the exploding Mac batteries, I looked at my battery. There was a bulge in the middle of it. With a phone call to Apple, I was sent a replacement ... my #2 battery. (Had to send the original back to Apple.) This replacement battery has never performed optimally. For one thing, it seems like the cycle count hasn't been recorded accurately. Awaiting its death pronouncement, it currently never gets back up to 100%, loses that within seconds of disconnection from power, and shuts the computer down within a couple of minutes. I'm wondering if off brand replacement batteries work any better than these.

    Waste of Money

    • Written by from Newark

After a year, I had to replace my battery. Now after a few months, I will have to replace it again because the replacement will no longer hold a charge. I can't believe a company like Apple, with all their technology, can't figure out how to make a battery with a long life span.
