    Very disappointed.

    • Written by from frankfort

I bought my macbook pro 15 inch about one year ago and have been cycling it per directions provided. Lo and behold, the battery needs to be replaced ALREADY. 130 dollars down the drain, 20 dollars says it will fail in 6 months with the amount of processing power I use. Use your money elsewhere.

    Swollen battery

    • Written by from Edmundston

I have 5 macs in my house, and this is the first time I'm having problems with a Mac... Everything was OK with my Mac Book Pro battery, but suddenly, it swelled up really bad, and it is completely not usable anymore!!! Since my AppleCare Plan expired a few months ago, I have to buy another battery, and I think it is frustrating, because Apple knows that they have mojor problems with those batteries!!! The replacement battery should be free of charge!

    Bad Battery Hurts Apple Brand

    • Written by from Brentwood

Don't get me wrong, I'm a mac addict, but this smells a lot like the PeeCee world.

I'm seriously HATING what appears to be the battery that came with the Mac Book Pro 15. I now have to keep it plugged in or it gets EXTREMELY hot and shuts down without warning. Despite the fact that the battery shows an almost full charge (3-4 lights).

Did I mention that it gets extremely HOT. Not just super toasty like before. AND yes, I've followed all the battery care and fix recommendations.

Bottom line, the Apple brand is tainted by this battery. I feel forced to try another brand.

    Ridiculously Bad Battery Life !!!

    • Written by from Houston

In 2.5 years of owning my MacBook Pro15", I am about to buy my 4th, yes, FOURTH, battery! Steve Jobs: This is totally not acceptable!

On each of my batteries, I have cycled it between 50 to 120 times, but it makes no difference. The last one is only 10 months old and it is now only holding 50 min of charge. I am happy that this battery is not catching on fire like the few in the past decade, but this lousy life is shameful to have come out of Apple.

I don't care if you censor this posting, as long as you kick your entire power management group in their behind for this huge failing.

    Sincerely,
A Life Long Mac User (9 in 21 years).

    Battery not the best..

    • Written by from Brownsville

The battery has never performed well. More time charging the unit (and less run-time) than I consider acceptable.. Heating is excessive. After a few months it gave out and when examined it was found to have physically failed.. the case swollen and split.. From my experience I do enjoy the laptop but can not recommend the Appple battery.

Macbook Pro 15-inch battery is Terrible!

    • Written by from Elmira

The battery in my Macbook Pro 15-inch died 1 month before its first birthday. I am very unhappy. I don't understand why Apple doesn't redesign this battery

    Consistently Poor Life

    • Written by from El Paso

I have had 3 of these batteries (you think I would learn my lesson!) and each has lasted less than a year. The battery reaches a point where it no longer holds a charge. Looks like I'll be getting my 4th. What a pain!

    Just plain embarrassing

A square log in the world of wheels!

Heat, battery life and other unexplained disasters. Anyone leaving a good review for this thing is a shill for the company. But who cares, right? Now they're selling a newer, better things... So forget the rest of us, right Steve?

I've gone through three of these overpriced paperweights trying to escape the slippery slope of unwelcome shutdowns and desperate searches for the closest electrical socket.

One positive. Mine didn't explode on me.

    AWFUL BATTERY

    • Written by from Lincoln

The battery that came with my Macbook died within two months of using it. After that they sent me a new battery and that one died after 9 months. Because the replacement battery was only under warranty for one month after being replaced so they would not replace a the second lemon they gave me. So before my laptop was even one year old I went through two batteries and now it only works when plugged in. Now if I move too much and the magnetic plug detaches, it shuts off and you loose all the work you were doing. FANTASTIC!!

    Worst Battery Ever!!! DEFECTIVE!!!

    • Written by from Saint Louis

I have only had my macbook pro for a little over a year and already this battery will not hold a charge for longer than an hour. My cycle count is only 198 and these batteries are "suppose" to last at least 500 cycles. On top of that the computer will randomly shut off even when the battery says 60% charged. Then when I go to charge it the percent will stay at 0% for thirty minutes or so.

But here is the best part....Apple REFUSES to do anything since I am out of warranty, even though this is clearly a defective battery. Apparently all I can do is buy a new battery for the ridiculous price of $130. In the last 2 years I've bought a $2000 macbook pro, $300 iPhone, and $200 iPod. It's good to know that after spending all that money this is how apple treats its customers.

As much as I love this computer it is rendered almost useless for what I intended to use it for. There is no way I can carry this around campus and expect it to last the whole day with its 50 minute battery life. I might as well have bought a desktop and saved myself $1000 dollars.

This product does not even deserve one star.

Why can't I give these batteries zero stars?

    • Written by from Hudson

I purchased a Macbook Pro 18 months ago. When new, the battery easily did 4.5 to 5 hours. A mere year and a half later and the battery life is down to 45 - 50 minutes. At almost $130 for a replacement, this is unacceptable. Its worth noting, I religiously follow all of the manufacturer's recommendations for cycling and calibrating the battery. A superior computer with a low quality battery.

    Super Bad

    • Written by from carlsbad

This battery has a terrible lifespan. Much like the previous generation and the one before that.
Yes, Apple has made the charge longer, by making it 5 hours instead of 3. But it's not normal that after 9 months, a charge that used to last 5 hours only lasts 4, and then, after month 12, 2-3 hours (barely).
Either make a battery that lasts 4-5 hours for 2 years minimum, or stop selling your batteries $129 a pop!!!!!

I missed the battery replacement announcement but would never fork out anymore money to be cheated again!

    Glad my battery isn't built-in...

    • Written by from Silver Lake

    Because Apple can't make batteries.

My first battery had a meter problem so it would shut off randomly because the system couldn't estimate the correct time left. Just before my 1 year warranty expired I got it replaced free of charge. However... my second battery is HORRIBLE. Just hit 80 cycles, and the health is at 49% and I get less than an hour of battery life. They are supposedly spec'd to do 100 cycles with 80% health. You have to buy these things every year.

    • Written by from HATTIESBURG

This is the third battery I have had to buy for my MacBook Pro. The second one lasted one year and now only keeps a charge for about a half hour. This is ridiculous. Love the MacBook Pro but the battery stinks. I tell everyone that "Yes, Macs are more expensive because they are better!" Can't say that about their batteries.

    second failure

    • Written by from BERKELEY

After less than 18 months and just over 100 cycles, my second battery has suddenly fallen off a cliff - "health" = 26%. The first battery lasted about 14 months. I talked with a "genius" at the local Apple store, and he said my pattern of use was not unusual.

Since I need a battery I will probably buy another Apple brand, but this is bad performance by any measure. Could an off-brand be worse?
