    having the same problem

    • Written by from Calgary

I am having problems with my battery also. I've not have the MacBook Pro for less then a year. Does anyone know why this is not covered. Apple must see that there are problems....I've been impressed with everything else, but disappointment that they are not going to take care of this issue. Is my next battery going to have the same issues?

Apple really needs to get this battery issue figured out. Paid $129 for a battery that lasted 8 months. UNACCEPTABLE.

What is the position of apple to support its customers ???

terrible battery, but no other option

    • Written by from HAMDEN

This product is horrible and Apple should be ashamed of selling it. I bought it for a trip because the battery that originally came with my computer died a long time ago. This new one only holds 1.5 hrs. of charge, which is unacceptable. When I get home I am returning it.

I love apple products but I am on my second battery and my computer is only 3 years old. When they are new they are great but they lose life FAST.

This is why AppleCare is worthwhile.

    • Written by from Toronto

I have a MacBook Pro 2.16MHz 15" (MacBookPro2.2) that is now more than 4 year old, but has served me very well and continues to do so.
However, this battery that it uses must be of a faulty design or have manufacturing defects (made by Sony?). For my Apple laptops, I always purchase the 3-year extended warranty and it pays for itself in replacement batteries. Over the past years, I have had two batteries replaced under warranty. Now, the latest battery has died and I have to pay my own way. I will keep the old battery for desktop use (as a UPS) and just use the new when I'm on the road. I am mostly stationary - plugged in - surf the Internet, do photo management with Aperture, watch my iTunes TV-shows, and cycle my battery - what am I doing wrong? I suspect the battery is overheating: cooked.
I just purchased another brand new 15" MacBook Pro for work and I sincerely hope the new type of battery is more reliable...

    Absolute Garbage!!!

    • Written by from Richmond

This battery is absolutely terrible. I had three since I bought my laptop in 2007. Not a single one has made it past 350 cycles without completely dying. And I have done everything apple asks to maintain battery life. Cycling it once a week, recalibrating it, etc. etc. I cannot believe the lack of quality control in this piece of trash. And $160 for a replacement!? Seriously someone at Apple is on hard drugs because this is the biggest joke I have ever seen. Well Apple it's your loss as I just bought a pc laptop and built a hackintosh. Hopefully you can bring your quality control up again and I will consider buying another mac. Until then I'm sorry but this experience has ruined my switch to the mac.

    On to my 3rd battery

    • Written by from Dundas

I'm on my second battery after 2 years of having my 15 inch MacBook Pro. It will go from being 100% charged to dying without warning (no "plug in or you will lose your work" pop-up) after 10-15 minutes of being unplugged. Never had this problem with any other computer - I will have to buy my third $160 battery in 2 years!

    Mac PowerBook battery a dissapointment

    • Written by from Norcross

After several Dell's, I decided to go for Apple MacBook Pro. The battery is a big disappointment, after a year forced to buy a replacement. This is quite opposite I wanted, with Dell the battery lasted three years, typically.

    Bad battery.

    • Written by from Laramie

I don't expect battery life to be amazing especially when optimal cycling neglected. I do, however, expect that a battery will not bulge and become completely useless over the period of a couple hours. When we spent as much money on a macbook as we did, certain things are expected. Functioning hard drives(crashed and had to be replaced after 1 year) and batteries are two of them.

    Poor Battery

    • Written by from Gainesville

My Macbook pro is 2 years old and I have to replace the battery for the second time it only has 40 cycles on it. I take it out when it is plugged in for an extended time and do everything that is recommended to extend the life. I am really disappointed with the batteries in this particular model. Now I have to spend another 129.00 dollars for something that should surely last longer than 40 cycles.

I bought my macbook pro Aug. '07. Battery completely died Nov. '08. So now I am forced to buy another battery for $129? Ridiculous. I thought the $2000 I paid for the laptop would provide a battery that lasts longer than a year and a half. Great computer, terrible battery.

Bought my macbook pro just under a year ago and my battery health is 43%. I owned an Acer Laptop before and the battery lasted 3 years before I noticed seriously degraded performance. My MBP battery health is now so bad that when i disconnect the AC charger my MBP switches off 2 seconds later.

I have had my laptop not even a year and my battery barely lasts an hour with all the wireless and bluetooth transmitters turned off.
Can't even make it through a college lecture without sitting near a plug.

Apple, refund the money, lower the price, or fix the problem. Please, I love Apple and recommend it to everyone, but I'm not impressed in this case.

Poor performance; loses its charge quickly

    • Written by from Albertson

I have had my Macbook Pro for about 2 years, and the battery that it came with is practically dead. It can't hold its charge for more than half an hour. I went to the store and was told by a technician that the batteries start losing their capacities to hold power after just 250 cycles. So if you recharge your computer almost every day, well, your battery could easily be useless, like mine is, within a year or two.

And worse, batteries are covered by warranty for only 1 year, even if you buy the extended warranty for 3 years. So you may have to pay for a new battery out of pocket.

I am very disappointed and expected more.

    battery Life: VERY Disappointed

    • Written by from San Francisco

I was converted to a mac user about 2 years ago or so when I finally decided to purchase a Macbook Pro. I have now bought my fiancee a Macbook and a new style iMac 24" for our home office.

Recently, the battery on my Macbook Pro basically stopped holding a charge, less than 5 minutes after unplugged it shuts down. This is apparently an issue with an Apple product and I am very disappointed that they are not owning up to it. Worse even, is that there is a silent recall on Macbook Pro batteries bought between 2006 - April, 2007. I purchased mine on March 22, 2007... and for some reason my serial number does not fall within their range of free exchanges! ITS OBVIOUSLY THE SAME PROBLEM!

I find this a big let down, and I feel like if Apple keeps going this direction they will lose all the momentum gained within the last few years. APPLE SHOULD NOT underestimate the power of bad reviews! If you keep letting customers down it will destroy your business. If I could give this less than 1 star, I would.
