    Bad Apple

    • Written by from Tamarac

I am so not happy with this battery. I bought my MacBook Pro and the battery lasted 2 years. In June of 2009 I bought a new battery, this one, and its now 11 months later and it is already diminishing. I'd expect Apple to have a better battery product and I was wrong. At $129 it should have lasted a lot longer.

Had laptop for 1.5 years, battery suddenly works poorly

    • Written by from Hampstead

My battery life for my macbook pro used to last around 3-5 hours depending on what I was doing. Just a couple weeks ago, when fully charged, it only lasts an hour and rapidly dies. I've only had this battery for 1.5 years and feel this is ridiculous to die so soon.

Battery for 15" MacBook Pro 2008

My original battery gave up the ghost after a year but more importantly it appeared to happen after I'd installed Snow Leopard.

The replacement from this site is now running down v quickly as well but not as before which was almost immediately, but I'm only getting 3-4 hours from light web browsing/email usage.

If I knew about the battery in the 2008 MBP range I wouldn't have bought it.

    Battery Explodes

    • Written by from Ellensburg

My battery died a few months back, but I kept it plugged in to keep power as my mac is what I use to make a living. While working, my power cord got unplugged... I plugged it back in, and to my surprise my computer would not boot back up. I turn my computer over, and my battery had EXPLODED!!! It had doubled it's size.. and miraculously at the same exact time my hard drive had failed. Out of warranty and out of luck! After spending the nearly $400 to fix my hard drive I am reluctant to buy a battery for $140.

it is just like Toyota's defective parts

    • Written by from Brooklyn

Bought MB-Pro about fourteen(14) months ago since I used Macs at work (not notebooks) as a mechanical design engineer. Mac is the appropriate tool (at premium price, of course) for pro's, and it always performed multi-tasking for me better than PC's BUT certainly not better than SUNS Micro Sys (those who have used will agree w/ it).
Okay, Bottom line: MB-P a good computer, w/ a real bad or leaky gas tank, yes you got it....the battery. It has a really really really bad battery which didn't live up to its name (Sony made this for Mac), regardless...it is a bad battery.
Also, don't listen to any1 telling you that the battery doesn't get affected when its fully charged & you are running it on the power adapter, not true. It DOES get affected, even your system (Sys Profiler > Power) status tells you otherwise.
After all, there is no such a thing as perfect vehicle OR perfect computer.

But what choice do I have?

    • Written by from Huntington Beach

Yeah, there is a problem with these batteries. I've had 2 replaced under warranty in the last 18 months but now the warranty is expired and I'll have to shell out the cash or always be plugged in. Your credit card issuer MAY offer to extend the 12 month warranty if you purchase a NEW battery. Thats my plan, at least I know I'm good for another 24 months for $130. Not the best, but gotta make it work!
Cycling the battery will help make it last, try to do that.

    Cannot Recommend

    • Written by from Lake Forest

How can I recommend this battery? I have had the battery that came with my Macbook Pro for only a year, and the battery is already giving me an alert that it needs to be replaced. The laptop does not hold nearly the charge it did when it was new, maybe 40% of its initial capacity. I do not subject the battery to inordinate stress, and I cycle it regularly. I use the laptop the way I imagine most users do, and as such, the performance of this battery has been unacceptable. This is simply not worth what Apple is charging for such an inferior product.

    Awful battery life

    • Written by from Brooklyn

This is my second Mac. I had a Powerbook G4 for 6 years before I had my MacBook Pro, and I NEVER had to replace the battery.
Now with my MBP, which I bought two years ago, I have to replace the battery once a year. Yes, twice so far. My battery will last about an hour if I'm lucky, and it can't be calibrated anymore, so when it says I have an hour left on it, it shuts down without any sort of warning.
Come on, Apple, get your act together.

    poor performance

    • Written by from Mississauga

I've had my mac book pro for 4 years now & I'm about to be on my 4th. battery! After the 3rd. they should be a nominal fee, not $160+Can. every time. The one that's dying lasts a whopping 15-20min. tops on a full charge. Apple/sony have really dropped the ball on this one. I consider it a major drawback.

    Worst part of my Mac

    • Written by from Nashville

I love my computer, but the battery is horrible! It has barely lasted over a year... They should either extend their warranty, or LOWER the ridiculous price-tag for these things.

The only bad part in my MBP... hardly lasts an year

    • Written by from EDISON

I have my MBP for just about 3 years now, and it was reporting that I should replace my second batter now (for about 3 months).... the battery I currently use is just about 1 year old and I really took care of it this time, but regardless, it hardly holds 40 mins of charge anymore.....

Unfortunately, I have to buy it again 'coz I still love my MBP and it is doing great... I really wish I had choice with batteries here...

    Disposable rechargeable?

    • Written by from Wesley Chapel

My MBP is three years old and this is the third battery I've had to buy, despite doing all the "battery maintenance" things you are supposed to do. They work fine, until they die, and then I have to buy a new one. I've taken the previous two in for service and the answer has been "yup, this battery is busted, sorry you need a new one." For the price, they should be better quality.

    Expensive for it's quality.

    • Written by from Toronto

For the price of $159 and up - This battery does not last long, needs to be constantly recharged. Always insure you drain it before recharging. Fickle. Will only last a year or so.

    Terrible!

    • Written by from Garland

I use my Macbook Pro all the time, less then normal lately because most of the programs I use for school now, run on a PC. But when I first got my laptop, the battery ran for close to 6hrs when fully charged depending on what I was doing and had no problems with it.

The computer itself has not given me any problems and I have had it for slightly more then 1 1/2 yrs. Recently, with in the last few months, it has been giving me trouble.

The battery began to act weird, the time remaining would change constantly. It would go up and down. Instead of getting 3+hrs of full battery life like I know it should have, I got less then 2:30min. Just surfing the web would make it jump down to 1:15 min and it would jump back up to 3:15 min and quickly go back down to 30min.

Even if you have a warranty on your laptop, the warranty does not cover the battery. I had to buy a new one to replace the one that came with my computer. The battery is much heavier then my original laptop. You think they would improve the battery life when they improved the laptop. Maybe instead of changing technology every 6 months or so they should work on the battery.

I have an IPOD Nano 3rd Generation whose battery is still working perfectly and it is close to 3yrs old! I use it every day for long hours at a time. The battery is still just fine! If Apple's IPOD battery's can last for 3yrs, why can't their laptop batteries?

    Short-Lived

    • Written by from Sellersville

I had the same problem as the other guy. I've had my MBP for about a year now, and the health of the battery is down to 65%, and the computer does not last long without being powered. I have cycled it, like the directions say, and it still has gone downhill. Its a bummer, because the computer is awesome, however the whole point of a laptop is to be able to be on the move, and Apple really dropped the ball here.
