Most of the negative reviews complain that you can't charge the iPod without connecting it to the computer. This a a big misconception. All you have to do is purchase a USB iPod power adapter ($29, not cheap). The Nano comes with a USB/dock connector cable which can then be pluged into the power adapter for charging anywhere there is a electrical outlet. My son uses his nano dock as a stand alone device for listening to music. It holds, charges and has a line output to powered speakers. Great in his bedroom.

Being simple and pleasing to the eyes is surely Apple's unique signature. This iPod accessory looks great with all the other Apple products on my desk... But most importantly, it is a wonderful piece of equipment.

the important part that people fail to mention about this dock is not the ipod plug part but the "headphone" or audio out part. the trick is that this is LINE level rather than what you get out of the headphone jack in the nano. this is different than what you get out of the headphone port! BASES and HIGHS will sound MUCH better when you attach to a sound setup with THIS hole rather than the headphone jack.

My Bro has a Nano and got the dock.He has the USB pluged in and thought he could charge it w/o a computer cuz his computer is broke.But the USB had to be pluged in to the usb conector in the back of the computer.And for all of those people who thought there wasn't another way, well there is! And do you know what he did?HE BOUGHT THE OUTLET CONECTOR! Shure its 20$ but you just plug the USB outlet into the conector on the outlet plug. Its that simple

This dock has made my life so much easier. Every morning before I get on the bus, I sync up my iPod nano. This product has made my music a lot easier. Now time to rip on other people who said this isn't worth it. First of all, if you have an iPod Tube and have to roll it up, thats fine. Who will see it in the dock????? Are you that worried about appearences? Second, why would you buy the universal dock when it probably costs more? Why not just get the one that goes with your iPod?????

This product is a must have, since im a student i wake up in the morning and put my ipod on the dock and go on with my morning. When im about to leave to get on the bus, i take it off and im on my way. Everything i had loaded the night before was all there. Also, i dont have to worry about my ipod being scratched up from sitting it on the desk. It looks great on the dock. This is a must have product.

I bought the Apple iPod nano Dock brand new in the box unopened from the clearance section of a local discount mass retailer for $9.99. I waited until I found it at a good price. I could have spent $40.00 plus to buy a universal dock with remote sensor and video out, but my iPod nanno doesn't even support video out. I am happy with this product, since all I want is a stylish dock that is made for my iPod model and holds it diagnally. Not everyone wants the Universal Dock. I don't want another remote to clutter up and get lost. The universal dock is big and bulky. The nano Dock matches my nano.

The nano Dock does what it says it does. I can charge it via my computer or with AC by plugging in my USB AC adapter. It has a line out which is perfect for hooking up to my stereo. I can set this up independent of my computer. If you want to listen to your iPod while charging, then plug your cable directly, bypassing the dock completely.

I like this dock because:

A) It has no IR recievers - which means that you can control your computer using the Apple remote without playing your iPod at the same time you press the play button.

B) It fits every iPod possible/compatible with it

C) It has a line out - so if you want to play music from your iPod, you can do so...

What I dislike about this dock is that:

A) Because it's the first gen dock, it doesn't have the standard universal crevice where you normally put the adapters... But who cares, EVERY iPod fits!

B) The advantage can be a disadvantage - You can't use the Apple Remote

And; C) Over time, you'll have to be careful with putting in your iPod correctly as it may scratch your iPod, or bend the 36-pin connector that it breaks or may not work at all...

All-in-all, it is a great buy! I highly recommend it if you have an Apple Remote and hate it when the iPod plays at the same time with your computer when you press the play button.
You may want to buy the Scosche passPORT Home Dock with it so you can use your adapters but it's another $29. It may be worth it!

But Apple needs to make a black nano dock to match the black nano! We know you have the technology, you did it for the original U2 iPod...
