Nice, simple adapter. I use it to connect my Macbook to a 20" HP w2007 monitor and it works perfectly.
As far as reviews complaining about the "cord" length, of course it's going to be short- it's an ADAPTER, not a cord. The short cord length is great because you can use whatever cable length you want, and the short cord allows you to route the cable any way you want as opposed to solid-state adapters that force you to route the cable at a specific angle.

why don't you get it?? why use vga when you have DVI? DVI-D btw, is standard... most monitors have one vga input and 1 dvi-D input.

Works perfectly to connect the mini-DVI port on my MacBook to my older "crystal-plastic" ADC cinema display, via ADC-DVI converter in the middle.

Similar to another post, my only (minor) gripe is that the cord could be a little longer, to make for a slightly less conspicuous on-desk cable nest.

That people are posting negative reviews because they aren't reading details about both the products they already own and the products they are purchasing, BEFORE they make a purchase, is just ridiculous. Don't give a product a bad review because you don't do your homework beforehand.

This adapter works great, but the cable is too short. The "regular" DVI end and it's mating connector are big and bulky, sitting on my desktop just to the left of my MacBook.

It would be great if Apple would make some mini-DVI (male) to mini-DVI (female) extension cables.

The mini-DVI connector is also used on the iMac and Xserve. For an iMac, an extension cable would look better along side the USB and Firewire cables than it would with this big DVI connector hanging down off the back.

Well I wanted to break out of my MacBook and purchase only 1 adapter to break out with and allow me to use for an external monitor. So, I chose the mini-DVI to DVI and if I needed to convert to SVGA I could use the typical adapter I use with all other computers I might hook up to my HDTV. Well, Apple does not like efficient functionality as much as mutiple revenues of each of there little typically non-standard trinkets! The trouble I encountered is that the DVI side does not match the 4 little pins at the ground side(large flat pin) of the connector. They have filled that with plastic to inhibit this connection. This facilitates the need to buy the official SVGA connector to break out in this manner. simply, annoying.

It is perfect for what it is sold. I pluged it in, then bought a DVI to HDMI converter, then just used my HDMI cable from the DVD player. It is tricky getting a mirrror image off the screen, the instructions are not so clear but with a little tinkering it is done. Very pleasant viewing in HD.

First, I read all of the reviews and I thought that this would probably not work. It works fine. The one-star people don't know what they're talking about. Its an adapter!! Not a cable!! Read before you buy! I give it 4 stars because its good but its $20 for an adapter, but for a really good adapter. Don't listen to the one-stars!

First of all I have never seen a product shipped so fast got it in 2 days pretty happy about that. Using this product to connect my macbook to my 32" HDTV LCD and it works great the quality is great with the monster dvi cable I'm using. At first i got the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter and the quality wasn't so hot on the LCD. If your hooking your computer up to a HDTV this is the adapter that you want.

i just bought this today and it works fine with my dvi-i monitor.... maybe all the problems listed are a result of operator error :)

Everybody keeps complaining about how this adapter is too fragile and "oh mine lasted 2 months." get over it, this thing is perfect and does exactly what it's supposed to.. and if something goes wrong with it? it's got a full year warranty. so stop crying already.
