    It works great

    • Written by from Sacramento

I have had no issues with it and it works great. I absolutely love it and it works with our iMac, MacBook and my mom's PowerBook.

Please keep in mind that the new MacBooks will not work with this device.

    um????????fail!

    • Written by from Ithaca

Ok so about a month ago I really really wanted to play my wii in my room. So I figured out how much money I had so i could buy a tv for my room. Then I asked my mom if I could buy it and she was like "no absolutely not!!!" So i looked around trying to find other ways to get my wii in my bedroom and I finally realized I could do it on my macbook pro. So I bought the converter box but that needs a VGA to mac adapter (FAIL). And now I finally have that (this thing) AND IT DOESNT FIT IN MY MACBOOK!!!!!!!!what the heck?????

    Works, and its affordable

I just read a lot of bad reviews about this product. I just bought mac mini and macbpro. I have used it with the mac mini for 3 months now and it works fine. I used it with dell 15" flat screen and now with and old envision 16" box of a monitor and worked with both with no problems. I hope it continues to and think it will, don't know what goes on with those that say it doesn't work for them.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW, BEFORE YOU WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY!!!

The description for the product says, and I quote, "The Apple Mini-DVI to VGA Adapter is designed for use with the iMac (Intel Core Duo)...". Well I just went to plug the adapter it into my "iMac", and it's not the right end to plug it into my computer. Did I mention my brand new computer is a iMac with the Intel Core Duo processor. I even got the upgrade 3.33GHZ Intel Core Duo processor. Maybe the upgrade changed the port to a port that doesn't fit "Common" everyday ports!! My port is an elite port, so maybe I will have to pay extra for an adapter from Apple that will actually fit my stupid port!! What is this?? For supposedly such smart people, why in the world do you have different style ports for the same exact use? The pictures match up, but that is it. Maybe I'm reading the description wrong when it says, "USE WITH THE iMAC (INTEL CORE DUO)". It doesn't give exceptions to the description, does it?? DON'T THINK SO!!! I AM SO UPSET RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mini DVI != Mini DVI - this is amazing FAIL

    • Written by from Sydney

Apple failed to accurately describe which of its computers will actually fit this cable. Packaging states "Requires Mac with a mini-DIV port", but the cable does NOT fit into my MacBook Pro.
    Huh???
Apparently all the genius's at Apple thought their customers would get that MacBook and MacBook Pro have the same name of the adapter (Mini-DVI) but are actually different?!?!?!?
I love Apple products but this is the greatest FAIL ever!

I have a MacBook, and this cord appeared to be the proper size, but apparently it isn't the right mini-DVI cord. I needed it for a presentation, I would have had it in time, but now I have to get a hold of one somehow else.

    Vague product description

    • Written by from San Diego

Apple failed to accurately describe which of its computers will actually fit this cable. So even though the description said it would work with "macbooks", the cable does NOT fit into my MacBook Pro. Apparently all the genius's at Apple thought their customers would get that. Way to go Apple. Now I am in Iraq with a useless cable that took a month to get here. Thanks a lot guys. Maybe I'll get the right one by the end of my deployment after I cycle through the hundred or so cable options with overly vague descriptions. Apple: FAIL.

    junk cable

    • Written by from New Hope

I bought this cable March 25th, 2010. It arrived, and I was able to use it teaching my class. It worked great! I was able to make my class so much more interactive and didn't have to rely on paper copies. The next day I pulled out the cable to use it, and the cable was dead. No signal, nothing.

I might add I had the same issue with a cheaper, non-mac cable. I'm not sure what the problem is (I have a 2007 13 inch MacBook). I guess I'm going for the third cable. Any recommendations? I've thrown about $35 away between the two.

So, sorry Apple, I can't recommend this cable.

    It works normaly

I had some concerned before a bought the adapter cause I saw all the "analog" reviews and I had also originally purchased a Mini divi to video that did not work. I have a Old CRT monitor. When i decided to try it, the mini dvi to vga worked fine. So now I have my dual screen setup. I also have screen 2 mirrored on my Analog TV. This was done with a signal converter that dosent cost that much.

    Bought It Yesterday

    • Written by from Brampton

Connected it to my Mac Mini (Late 2009 model) and works fine. The wire is just as thick as the Mini DVI to DVI Adapter, and rigid, (might prove to be a problem if you bend it). The VGA connection is well exposed, and nicely streamlined.

    Warning!

    • Written by from Jacksonville

I bought this to connect my monitor to my computer. First of all, why can't they just put a standard VGA and/or DVI adapter on the computer? Second, it doesn't stay in the computer very well. Third, you have to wiggle it and bend it just right or the color on the monitor will be messed up. I think that is because of a short in the wire. Last, it should be cheaper.

I have a "white Macbook" and this cable works great with my 32" Maganavox HDTV in my Cedar Creek fifth wheel. I can download my camping pictures at the lake and edit them right there on my HDTV. Watch home movies, view slideshows, etc. When I get sleepy I just recline my leather recliner and take a nap!

    Badly made cable!

    • Written by from St. Peter's

This adapter is totally unreliable: there must be an internal short or poor connection made with one or more of the wires carrying color data. The first time we used it, we had to wiggle and twist it and set it down 'just right' to avoid getting a green picture on a black and white version of "Scrooge" (the 1951 Christmas classic). I'm surprised at Apple making such shoddy workmanship available. Other reviews report the same low quality.

    Works like a charm!

    • Written by from White Plains

Based on the reviews, I really hesitated to not just get the cable, but to get a 30" monitor at all. But I have a feeling that many of the users who are unhappy with this adapter are not using the correct dual DVI cable to connect their monitors.

I am using this adapter with a brand new HP 3065 30" screen with my new 17" MacBook Pro. Everything works as advertised, and without a hitch. What a thrill to have that much screen real estate; and how much easier it is to work with iMovie, Photoshop and Lightroom. No flicker, no blinkies; and 2 beautiful screens at once. Sure, it's all expensive; but you don't use Apple products if you're a Wal Mart shopper...

    Cable is junk

    • Written by from Topeka

Had this cable 1 month. Used three times and now it doesn't work. Read the other comments before buying this cable. There's a reason the rating is low.

    Twice the Space!

    • Written by from APO

There was almost no effort to this setup. I plugged the adapter into the back of my old iMac, then plugged into the back of my Dell monitor (from an old PC that had long since broken down-surprise, surprise). The iMac automatically detected the type of monitor that I had plugged in and it was ready. Twice the desktop space in about 3 minutes. It looks great and is very helpful when editing videos, music, etc. it makes multitasking much easier.

    Mini DVI to VGA

    • Written by from Los Angeles

As with most people, I always thought to keep my accessories from previous MACs to use on newer models.
That doesn't work this time. I had kept my mini DVI to VGA cord from my iBook G4 to use with my 2007 Macbook. I just found out today that the ports on these two models are different.
So, now I have to cough up more money to buy a cord that will work. And I believe there is no mention of this change as the ports are just referred to as "mini DVI" ports...not "mini DVI 2" like they refer to USB 2.0 or Firewire 400 and/or 800.

I recommend to everyone; before you get excited at the prospect of watching your Family Guy episodes you downloaded from iTunes on your new flatscreen TV, make sure you know if you have the proper cord (if you kept one from a previous Mac).
    Best of Luck.

    Overall Great Product.

I got this product for my Macbook. I am gonna dual screen my Macbook to my 32" Samsung Tv. I suggest that everyone make sure what model your Mac is before purchasing any Mini Dvi Adapter. Because they are different Like with this one.

For the most part it is pretty useful for connecting your macbook to your hdtv. But I wish the one end of the cable fit a little more securely in my computer.
