    great with Dell Monitor

    • Written by from Aptos

I like this adapter. It so far has given me the best resolution on a Dell U3011 30-inch monitor of 2048 x 1280 @ 60 Hz. (I have a mid-2008 MacBookPro laptop)

I'm still looking for an adapter to get the max resolution out of that monitor.

    Great price, great product.

    Fragile

    • Written by from Sherwood Park

I had this adapter for approximately 1 month when the cord started to short out and drop colours. This adapter is junk. One of the few Apple products that has truly disappointed me.

    Works Pefectly!

This adapater is finally getting some use from me. I also have the adapater that allows you to hook up to a TV using S-Video and RCA wires. This one though will finally be put to use with my HP Monitor - now I can have dual monitors (laptop screen on my Macbook & the HP flatscreen). I bought the TrendNet PS/2 KVM Switch so I could hookup my Mac and PC to the same mointor. Works perfectly! Love apple products! :-)

    Love it, but...

    • Written by from Pasadena

This is a great product, BUT... after plugging it in, it took me a really long time to figure out how to get it to show my MacBook desktop on my TV. I'm not the most technologically gifted individual, but in case anyone else has trouble, here's what you need to do: Go to System Preferences, click on displays, then "bring displays forward," then click the "mirror" box. Also, in response to that last review about it being too short, this is an ADAPTER, not a cable.

Luv it and YES it does work in Windows XP Pro

    • Written by from London

Got my Cable about a week ago. Plugged it and it worked perfectly. I just installed boot camp, with Windows XP Pro and running Dual monitor ( Extended Desktop ) perfectly. Forgot to say I am running the new Macbook and loving every minute of it. The only reason why I have windows on it is because I have clients I show this to every day.

    video adapter cables in general

    • Written by from Arlington

I have two ibooks and I can confirm the reviewers complaints about the durability of the "to VGA" adapters. Both of mine failed (each one had an internal cable broken). Also the one I tried as a replacement had had the same problem. I bought a new one and the first thing, I did is stiffen the cable with tape and handle it very carefully. It is the bending which kills these video adapters rather quickly.

    Use your VGA cable

    • Written by from Pepperell

Is this guy from Langley for real??? CP you need a VGA cable between the Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter and the VGA monitor itself. Just like you need a VGA cable between a pc's VGA port and a VGA monitor.

    I love it too

I also just connected it and it worked. The only thing I had to do was to reset the resolution and refresh rate as Snow Leopard seemed to have some inbuilt defaults.

    good quality

I don't know what some people do with their adapter cables , I've had mine for years and it's still works just fine , it is a good quality cable and connector and should last the lifetime of your Mac or definitely longer

    It works great

    • Written by from Sacramento

I have had no issues with it and it works great. I absolutely love it and it works with our iMac, MacBook and my mom's PowerBook.

Please keep in mind that the new MacBooks will not work with this device.

Be careful if you have a new iMac

    • Written by from Harrogate

Despite what it says in the description of this connector it does NOT fit the latest model of iMac (Intel Core Duo) - by which I mean the 20" or 24" screen ones.

These models now have the Mini Displayport connector (even though the website does not mention the iMac in that cable's description).

I had to replace both the cables I had bought with my new iMac based on what it says on the website. Good service from Apple though - the new cable arrived 2 days later!

Works great day-after-day for 2 years

    • Written by from Elgin

I've been using this adapter day-after-day for 2 years at school. I connect/reconnect it multiple times per day in a dusty environment (the chalkboard is only a couple feet away from my laptop). It's still working great!

    Not fragile; works awesome!

    • Written by from Boulder

I bought this nearly two years ago at the same time as my Intel MacBook. I've hooked it up to a monitor or projector nearly every day. I toss it into my bag every day with complete disregard, even though I've lost those silly protective caps a long time ago. I haven't had a single problem with it. It works like a dream, and I would recommend it to every MacBook owner!

    adapter

    • Written by from columbus

This product is good, it works as intended, it is only meant to be an adapter but i would have to agree, i wish the cord was longer and i wish it stayed in better, some kind of a clip or something would help. It would be really cool if apple made this a cord that connected directly to the monitor, so you wouldn't have to have 4 inches of cord followed by a large plug, it would be more sleek.

    Apple Quality - ???

    • Written by

I bought this adapter shortly after purchasing my MacBook - after rarely using it for less than 2 years the product is finished - it shorts out, causing the monitor or projector to flash or not show certain colors.
The fact that this adapter has to be purchased to essentially make the Mac useful with anything VGA is an annoyance in itself - what a money grab!
And then to have it built so poorly that, after 18 months it needs replacement, is a real irritation.
This is my first Mac and, if the poor quality of the computer and adapter is any indication, it will also be my last.
    Talk about overpriced trash!

    junk cable

    • Written by from New Hope

I bought this cable March 25th, 2010. It arrived, and I was able to use it teaching my class. It worked great! I was able to make my class so much more interactive and didn't have to rely on paper copies. The next day I pulled out the cable to use it, and the cable was dead. No signal, nothing.

I might add I had the same issue with a cheaper, non-mac cable. I'm not sure what the problem is (I have a 2007 13 inch MacBook). I guess I'm going for the third cable. Any recommendations? I've thrown about $35 away between the two.

So, sorry Apple, I can't recommend this cable.

    Badly made cable!

    • Written by from St. Peter's

This adapter is totally unreliable: there must be an internal short or poor connection made with one or more of the wires carrying color data. The first time we used it, we had to wiggle and twist it and set it down 'just right' to avoid getting a green picture on a black and white version of "Scrooge" (the 1951 Christmas classic). I'm surprised at Apple making such shoddy workmanship available. Other reviews report the same low quality.

    Works like a charm!

    • Written by from White Plains

Based on the reviews, I really hesitated to not just get the cable, but to get a 30" monitor at all. But I have a feeling that many of the users who are unhappy with this adapter are not using the correct dual DVI cable to connect their monitors.

I am using this adapter with a brand new HP 3065 30" screen with my new 17" MacBook Pro. Everything works as advertised, and without a hitch. What a thrill to have that much screen real estate; and how much easier it is to work with iMovie, Photoshop and Lightroom. No flicker, no blinkies; and 2 beautiful screens at once. Sure, it's all expensive; but you don't use Apple products if you're a Wal Mart shopper...

    Great product

    • Written by

This product does have a limited life span especially if treated poorly. however since apple is an awesome company all of these converters are under a year warranty if it breaks within that year simply bring the receipt to any store they will quickly and easily get you a new one free of charge with a new year warranty. and if it breaks after the year... well than u still got your moneys worth it's only 20$
