Why doesn't this work on a Mini?

    Written by BK from Greeley

    Dec 5, 2009

I was told in the store that this would work with my Mini. It doesn't. It doesn't mention being compatible with a Mini on the packaging, but I didn't read that little print while I was in the store being told it would work. Even reading it now, there is no reason to think that the computer I just bought wouldn't be able to do what some other ones using the same connection could. All the physical connections are there so why would this not work on a Mini? iMac, Powerbook G4, and Macbook are the only compatible models.

    I want a refund.

I bought this for my 2009 mac mini to hook up with my crt tv via s-video. What I didn't know was that this thing does not work with the newest mac mini. It looks like it should work. It does not work.

I am now $30 poorer for no good reason.

    Mini Display Port

    Written by AR from Sparks

    Oct 6, 2009

I am a convert from PC to Mac Pro for our Dj Business. I am very dis-appointed that Apple switch from mini DVI display port to a Mini Display Port on the new Mac Pro
but without available adopter to output video to S-video or RCA video. I purchased a $2500 laptop for music video but could not use this expensive laptop without the adapter.

Doesn't work for 2009 Mac Mini

    Written by JA from Issaquah

    Sep 15, 2009

... even though the guys at the Apple Store said it would. Apple needs to be more clear about what machines it does work with; more importantly, what machines it doesn't work with.

    Not compatible

    Written by AP from Chicago

    Aug 18, 2009

This cable does not work with the macs from the fall of 2008 either (they say not compatible with white Jan 2009). I bought it because of all the great reviews, but when I got it, the DVI plug does not fit my fall 2008 macbook (the aluminum one). FYI.

Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter doesn't work with Mini Mac

    Written by YL from Scarborough

    Jul 3, 2009

I bought this cable from Best Buy, but I find it doesn't work with my Mini Mac. At here, I also read someone left the same message as mine.

If it's true, apple should be noticed it, and correct its advisory information on this product webpage, or give us a software update on Mini Mac displaying driver.

Previously I love apple product, and this is my first time to encounter this problem.

Does not work with new (Early 2009) Mac Mini

    Written by ML from Seattle

    Mar 30, 2009

Was hoping to hook up the new Mac Mini up to my older Television. Called in apple support they said it doesn't work. The newer software on the newer "better" graphics card doesn't work with older TVs. Therefore this product does not work with the new Mac Mini and they should say so on the "Overview" like it does for the 2009 MacBood. My "older" TV does not have HDMI input, so I now have a nice looking silver box sitting there until I get a new HDTV with HDMI.

Why in the world doesn't this work with the new Macbook?

    Written by SR from Raleigh

    Mar 11, 2009

As a first time Mac purchaser, with a primary purpose of purchasing a Mac being to connect to my TV, this is a poor experience. It would have been nice if the Mac "genius" mentioned that this adapter would not work on a new 09 Macbook when we were purchasing the Mac at the store. We even specifically asked what we would need to connect it to our TV and he handed us this adapter. If anyone has any ideas for workarounds or another adapter that might work with the 09 Macbook, please let me know. Why in the world would this adapter only NOT work with the exact Mac we purchased? Luck of the draw, I guess.

    Quality Control?

    Written by AW from Kingston

I worked at the Apple Store for a while and I'm usually a big fan of their products. However, quality control missed this one... It stopped working in less than a month!

    Fragile

Written by AD from Harper Woods

I bought this adapter last year. I have only had 3 chances of using it. Now it does not work at all. I saw that there were other people who had similar problems with this adapter. Fragile... and disappointing.

    Piece of junk.

    Written by BO from Chicago

    Sep 28, 2008

This worked great for about a month and today it just bombed out on me. The picture is suddenly dark, washed out in blues and blacks. $19 isn't an outrageous price unless I have to replace it every six weeks.

    Image quality is awful!

    Written by CR from Toronto

    Jun 6, 2008

I used this to hook up my Macbook first to a projector and then to a widescreen HDTV using the yellow end of a composite cable (though I've heard that S-video isn't that much better) but the image quality was really bad in both cases. It didn't register the fullscreen or the entire resolution. It shrunk the resolution, so you had a pixelated image that was all warped because of the fullscreen not being registered, which looked especially bad on a fullscreen TV. I want to return it but I don't think they'll let me.

Will not work under Windows XP Pro using boot camp

    Written by CC from Towson

Of course, as usual apple will ignore this tiny detail.

I m Mac with stupid ports which require custom adapters which will not work with any other OS

But hey it looks cool. It just doesn't work

Wrong Adapter for a MacBook 13" 2.16.Ghz Intel Duo Core

    Written by GL from Rutherford

    Apr 10, 2008

I bought one adapter based on the picture above. Big Problem. The socket at the end of the short wire that goes into the side of the computer, is the wrong size/ configuration.
Why? WHY? WHY? I am waiting for a response or and explanation for the misleading information provided.
I'm out over $22.00 .. I wonder if apple cares enough to write back. At least lead me in the right direction. Is there a DVI-2 plug? 32 pin? Is it really Mini?
Apple, be kind and give me a call or write back.

    DON'T BUY

    Written by MP from Burke

This product works fine, but the image is very blury. Sure you can easily connect to a TV, but most of them have a dvi-in anyway. Even on a smaller screen with an s-video cable, the adaptor image looks blury. Get the DVI adaptor instead!!

    This product sucks

    Written by CD from Whistler

    Jun 22, 2007

I hooked it up to my tv using the composite video output and nothing appeared. There were no instructions/problem solving solutions and no web based advice that I found remotely helpful. I am left wondering if it is the TV, cable, adapter or my Macbook that is the problem.
