Use S-Video Not composite
Written by OO from SAN FRANCISCO
Oct 13, 2007
Using S-Video will provide you with better quality than composite video because composite is analog verses digital.

Got it b/c traveled to Tampa Bay for a surgery and wanted to play DVDs on the hotel tv while recovering. Works great, but has locked up my MacBook a couple of times. This annoyance is worth it to me. Also, able to play iTunes music through tv.

Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter
It is what it is! A nice piece!
Written by EG from Chicago
Sep 27, 2007
This is just an adapter to serve you to see things on a bigger TV, it is mainly for watching movies or events, stuff like that. It is not something that will give you HDTV or HQ pictures on your TV set. No one told you so! So accept this small nice peace of plastic just to have fun and if you want bigger screen with nice resolution, then buy such device like Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel) and then you will not complain about picture quality. A must have accessory for your Mac! Enjoy it responsibly! :-)

Works like a charm.. misunderstood by idiots
Written by BR from waipahu
Sep 23, 2007
The product works exactly as it can/should. People seem to be confused on what to expect. A tv (even most lcd tvs) does not have the resolution of a computer monitor. It will appear fuzzy... Period...
If your TV has VGA or DVI input, use that. For a lesser quality, highly compatible version, use this. If it doesn't fit your macbook, you're using the wrong product or you're trying to cram it into the fire wire port.
S-Video cable will improve your picture significantly on most tvs.
As usual, confused technophobes rate improperly due to their own ignorance and expectations.
A very solid properly operating piece of hardware at a very good price (considering its branding)

DON'T BUY
Written by MP from Burke

This product works fine, but the image is very blury. Sure you can easily connect to a TV, but most of them have a dvi-in anyway. Even on a smaller screen with an s-video cable, the adaptor image looks blury. Get the DVI adaptor instead!!

Nice

I had some doubts after reading some of the reviews. Kinda blurry... agree ... but does what its suppose to do. Easy to set up... no need of instructions just plugs right in. And the only issue is sound... but all you need to do it buy a mp3 to stereo splitter that has audio plugs and plug them into your TV and into your headphones port on your apple.
Amazing Enjoying it. Apple screen will reset once unplugged.49 of 80 people found this useful

Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter
OK Product, it does the job...
Written by SJ from Oakville

I bought this hoping to hookup my macbook to my TV for watching video. I agree with what has been said earliet - the picture is slightly fuzzy and it does not fit the video to the scale of a flat panel LCD widescreen TV. (There is a black border) It also changes the resolution of your actual macbook screen. Things like dashboard are 25% missing off of the screen and apps. like Garage band will not work. It does the job, and for 20$ it's worth keeping to show photos and video, because depending and the quality of your pictures/movies, their quality on screen is pretty good.

Works great!!!

This product works great, quality is really sharp and allows you to choose from several resolutions (which it will downscale to the native NTSC format).
I've got no complaints here, don't listen to all of the negative ratings on this; people are expecting the display to be as sharp as it is on their monitor, this is impossible with this cable. If you're looking for a high res output, get the Mini-DVI to DVI cable, which also works great.42 of 64 people found this useful

Works Great On Many Computers. GREAT VALUE!
Written by RH from East Longmeadow

I think the product works great, espically for the price. I am on this site looking for another adapter, because the port on my Intel iMac is different. I used the product on both my iBook G4 and iMac G5 and have had good luck either way. The resolution changes automaticly, and back when you are done. You can hook it to any display (many PC's only offer S-Video) and in many cases a wire will be there for you. Many reviews claim it has poor picture quality but in my opinon for the cost it is pretty good- if you have a mac you should be happy this adapter is so inexpensive, as we know many are not.

This product sucks
Written by CD from Whistler
Jun 22, 2007
I hooked it up to my tv using the composite video output and nothing appeared. There were no instructions/problem solving solutions and no web based advice that I found remotely helpful. I am left wondering if it is the TV, cable, adapter or my Macbook that is the problem.

It's just what I needed
Written by DC from Raleigh

I bought it and it didn't fit my MacBook, so I returned to the Apple Store and told them the problem I was having. They pointed out that there are two different versions, one called "Mini-DVI to Video Adapter" and the other simply called "Video Adapter". They swapped mine out for the right one and it's perfect.

Analog picture quality sucks
Written by JK from Milwaukee
May 16, 2007
The product worked fine and everything like it was supposed to, I just rated it so low because I was disappointed in the picture quality. I bought it to send video from my iMac to my 50" plasma television. I'm used to the HD picture, and I knew I wasn't going to get that, but I had assumed it would look about as good as it did on my computer screen. The picture definitely did not. I think I'm going to return this and buy the Mini-DVI to DVI adaptor instead. Then get an adaptor that changes DVI to HDMI since my tv doesn't have a DVI port. I'm hoping this will look a lot better since both are digital signals. We'll see...

WOW!
Written by EH from Troy
May 2, 2007
this is amazing. the first time i plugged it in it seemed to know what kind of tv screen it was connected to (connected it to old fullscreen, it went fullscreen - connected to friends widescreen, switched to widescreen) the quality is a little poor but that can be solved by using the "Zoom" feature in Universal Access in System Preferences. one of the best twenty bucks i've ever spent!
