    Works with Bootcamp too!

    Written by RH from Ringmer

    Oct 15, 2007

I read somewhere on the 'net that this doesn't work with Bootcamp. But it works fine for me. I'm running Vista on a Mac Pro with the ATI Radeon X1900XT and after I installed ATI's catalyst control center (the graphics card management tool) it detected that a second monitor was plugged in, and even recognized as a standard def NTSC TV and configured itself appropriately. So now I can watch TV shows from Mac OS X *and* Windows. Great!

    Best video adapter ever

    Written by BR from waipahu

I do a lot of AV adapting as a hobby... m.a.m.e. cabs.. home theatre computer.. myth.. tons of stuff.. just to see if I can.
This adapter works better: clearer, smaller, simpler, than any other I have used with any other machine. I would rate it similarly to using a vga input on a flat screen tv. even at high resolutions it is legible on a large tv. CUrrently using it for netflix watch it now to DLP projector on 100 inch screen.. bu looks good anywhere. A+ product. Complainants must be rating a different product. It is pefect.
Can be set up as mirrored or dual display

It will only work on port 1 of the ATI cards, NOT port 2 !!!!!

Dont try to stretch the video to match a high monitor resolution.
Set the resolution to match your video, in my case 720X480 for DVCPRO videos, also check the underscan button to get rid of the black outline.

Little explanation needed for people using this.

    Written by MB from Brighton

This may be rubbish but may explain peoples issues.

Apple ships computers with a DVI-I interface. This means it can output analogue or a digital signal hence why it works with adapters. Some PC's come with this interface but some come with DVI-D which only outputs a digital signal hence why adapter will not work.....also not sure if pc's video drivers are written to be aware of the DVI-I interface it is probable it only sees it as a DVI-D.

Also all those people moaning about the quality tough luck. Analogue video though composite/s-video does not support above 1024 x 768 very well it was not designed for these sort of resolutions. When you are used to RGB/VGA signals the quality is pretty good,(composite is poor, svideo is better, then RGB analogue then RGB/Digital is the quality level) If you have a HDTV then get a DVI to HDMI cable then you get a very crisp high resolution RGB signal.

Hope this helps to explain this.

    works just as advertised

I bought this to connect my mini to my TV to watch downloaded movies on a bigger screen. As others have stated, the resolution is not very good, but it works great for watching movies. Also, it DOES WORK IN XP when using a macmini. I don't even have a monitor for the mini, just use the TV (which really isn't an ideal situation, especially when surfing the net in XP... text is very hard to read), and can tell you that XP does indeed show up on the TV.

    great poduct

i have not bought this yet, but am considering it for my macbook pro, and i have seen the output.... now firstly for those who bought it for your hdtv's for movies or whatever, dont complain that it does not show hd picture.... for starters its only s-video out, not hdmi!! also for those not happy with the quality, you have to uderstand that it uses the scan converter built in to your mac... a scan converter changes the output of your computer into a composite or s-vid signal that your tv can understand... a decent scan converter will set you back min $200, and even that is not the best... for the price and size of this item, it is great.. (and for those complaining about it not working with boot camp/windows..... why would you want to run windows on a mac? why would you want windows in the first place??)

    It works!

It works great. Now I can watch iphoto slideshows on my tv. I got a MacBook pro which came with a remote control that controls frontrow which lets me select video, audio, and photos via the remote. Now I can play cool screensavers (Like Soundstream) on my tv. The resolution is lower on a tv than on the computer's screen, but it's good enough for looking at photos or selecting music.

    An usefull thing for me...

Firstable, I wanted that thing to watch my downloaded TV Episode on my Tube TV. I've got it yesterday and in seconds, it was working. I've watched all my this week Heroes episode and the quality was very good to me (not to say perfect). I had subtitled it and the letter were fine (not to say perfect).

BUT I wouldn't use it as a second monitor. That thing isn't make for that anyway. The letters and icons on my desktop wasn't clear.

Buy it / Use it to watch TV/Movie or probably to record on DVD or VHS video you have made on your computer. Or to play to video game that is on your computer but nothing else.

    I love it !

    Works good with right cable

    Written by DH

    Mar 8, 2007

Works fine for me. Had a cable issue that may help others. I tried to use the rca type cable that was from my DVD player to the TV to hook the mac to the tv. That cable would not work. A standard audio type rca cable worked fine.
If you have trouble, try a regular audio type cable (like home stereos use).

    Works Great. Excellent quality.

    Written by BP from Easton

The product works exactly as advertised. It converts a MacBook Pro DVI output to S-Video so you hook it into a TV. I use this adapter to plug in my MacBook Pro into my TV to watch iTunes content. I have only used the S-video output, I did not use the composite video. The picture on my TV is crystal clear, much better than I get from a cable channel.

Ignore negative reviews from people who are trying to use this for something other than its intended purpose. I mistakenly thought this product had issues (from the negatives reviews) and wasted time trying to find an alternate solution. Then I just decided to try it and it works flawlessly.

    GREAT

Written by AP from Sugar Land

This product works perfect. Take my advice because I read all these reviews and was on the fence, BUT it's great! The only downside is that when you need to disconnect it it turns you screen blue and you have to restart most of the time, but honestly for as useful as it is that's a small price to pay, so get it you won't be unhappy!

Works perfectly with Intel Mac Mini displaying Front Row on tv. Some complain about lower resolution when using this adapter, keep in mind the limitation of s-video and composite outputs is really 480i.

    Works with MacBook Pro

Written by GP from San Jose

    Nov 1, 2006

I have a MacBook Pro 15" and it works fine. Quality is just as I'd expect with s-video. I guess most people don't realize that this is what all dvi to video adapters look like. If you want to use a TV as a monitor, get an hdtv with VGA, DVI, or HDMI input and use that. Otherwise, this is the simplest dvi-video adapter I've used. Never had one that was automatically detect and so easy to set up. Awesome.
