Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
It sucks!
Written by RL from Virginia Beach

I went to Germany over the summer and it didn't work at all. I switched out the american plug for the european converter and it just drains the battery! won't even turn on if you have a american converter and try to charge. but it won't ruin it. not worth the money

I've used two of these kits on two PowerBook G4's in Italy, Germany, and the UK. They've always worked perfectly.

too many connectors
Written by MA from New York

According to Rick Steves - the PBS travel show guy - you really only need 2 adapters to convert 110 volt devices throughout Europe. There's the 3 pronged scary looking one for the UK and a simple 2 prong one that's supposed to work everywhere else.
Wish Apple would sell these 2 separately. Has anyone needed more than 2?

This adapter kit served me well when I was in Europe this summer (even on a cruise ship). I was able to use it for my PowerBook and iPod. It's ideal!

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Pricey but effective
Written by SR from Richmond
Sep 19, 2005
A little expensive considering non-Apple adapter kits are available everywhere for less, but I chose to use this one in order to maintain warranty protection. I used the two prong adapter in Switzerland and Germany with no problems at all. In Germany, I did have a similar battery drain issue another reviewer reported but realized I had plugged into an outlet that had been turned off by a wall switch...an easily corrected user error. The compact design of the adapters ensures the prongs will fit into recessed outlets, a nice feature not found with many other brands. Would have given five stars if not for price.

Going to Europe? Bringing your iPod? Pick this up.
Written by NK from Wantage

If you are going to Europe, or any other place in the world, definitly pick this up. When I went to Ireland and England, I brought this along, and was able to recharge my iPod just as easily as here at home in New Jersey. This product never let me down and worked everytime. Durable and reliable, I would HIGHLY reccomend this product.

***Warning***
Written by GS from Toronto

While in Argentia this year, I fried the logic board in my G4 laptop because I didn't know the difference between 'Adapter' and 'Converter'. This Apple product is an adapter, and only offers the specific prong configuration that allows you to insert into a foreign electrical outlet. However it will not convert the voltage, which why you will need to to get yourself a convertor as well.

Not with a Nano
Written by RB from Geneve
Nov 14, 2005
Great Idea, just dont try it with a ipod nano - I only read it in a review after frying the battery on my nano that the voltage coming thru foreign plugs wouldnt be regulated down to the max 5V to charge a nano - instead it got 12V..not smart and not well advertised - same goes for non apple varieties that even say it safe for a nano.

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
few prongs but many countries
Written by RB
Dec 8, 2005
The adapter is useful, but could be more so. For example, the "Korea" "Round Thick Pins" also works in India, but there is no mention of that in the description.
Also, now I'm going to Thailand for awhile, but there is no mention of that country in any part of the brochure, so I don't know which plug to take. AND the whole thing is so big that for travelling, I only want to take the plugs that I know I am going to use, not the whole thing which is almost 3"X6"X6".
So a more comprehensive list of countries where the available plugs work would be nice.49 of 57 people found this useful

This product is an adapter only if you are in a country thet the voltages are the same in USA they work. If aren't the same you iPod,G5,etc will burn. Im from Chile I know about voltages. In Chile we use 220v, in USA you use 110v.

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Great product for Apple travel...
Written by TM from Houston
Dec 16, 2005
Now you will read "bad" reviews here by people who don't read the instructions, thus they get what they deserve.
This unit is great for traveling around the world. But it must be used with the APPLE power adapters that it is designed for: Apple iBook, PowerBook G4, iPod USB Power Adapter, and iPod FireWire Power Adapter. These convert the power as stated on them (110v -240v to the correct output of watts for your device). If you use something other than what Apple recommends, yes your device will get fried! Take a moment look at your power adapter- it will have written on it the power usage and output.
If you are not sure still, find the manual on this website and check it there or call apple.
The only downside- expensive for this type of product.34 of 45 people found this useful

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
A waste of money
Written by PR from London
Dec 19, 2005
Although it fulfills its function and does it well, there are two major issues with this kit. Firstly it does not include the USB Power Adapter in the package. This means that you will then have to pay for two pieces of kit the power adapter and the world travel kit! Secondly its just not necessary unless you are the kind of person who needs every bit of Apple kit. Once you have the Power Adapter you can buy a normal convertor available at the airport and it will work just the same for half the price.

Works fine for iPod USB power supply and iBook
Written by PC from Spring
Jan 1, 2006
Used these adapters in Hong Kong, UK, and throughout Europe. Not sure what the posts below are talking about since Apple iPod and notebook power supplies are 120/240V and work anywhere...having said that there are only two adapters you will use most of the time and the rest are just extra. These adapters securely attach the power adapters to the wall outlet, and won't fall out. Good product at a steep price.

Brazen cheek of Apple!!
Written by KB from London

Ok, firstly, why in the world doesn't this come with the power adaptor?; secondly, how can Apple justify not including that with the Ipod itself (I don't imagine they're struggling for funds); and thirdly - and most appallingly - why the heck does Apple not make its products applicable for all its Ipods (ie the Nano) and if it's only going to apply to some products it HAS to indicate this on the box, particularly when using it with the wrong product will fry it! Not everyone shops online you know! Luckily I read a review before using it but surely it isn't an expectation of all consumers to go to apple.com and read reviews of products before buying. Typical Apple snobbery. Oh and one more thing - interesting how there's no phone number to call with complaints/queries about products - implying that if you weren't born with some innate knowledge of how to use the products, you aren't the sort of person whose custom Apple welcomes. Am now left with a useless piece of equipment as I opened the plastic before I found out it wouldn't work with the Nano, and Apple returns policy says the original packaging must be intact to get a refund.

I've used this with my 12" powerbook in several countries with no problems... your PB adapter converts power, so all you need is the correct plug for your location. Again, I've used this in several countries and my computer is not "fried" in any way.
