not good for all countries

I've been traveling in Eastern Europe and have only been able to use one of the adapters once. Granted most of my time hasn't been spent in typical tourist countries but the folks at the Apple store mislead me into thinking that the European adapter would work all over Europe, however, this is not true as most counties I've been to have larger outlets than the Apple European adapter.

Convenient but totally lacking labels

I'm happy with these adapters, they were expensive but I charge my phone, ipod, etc off of my laptop, and being able to just say, "oh, I'm going to Australia" and go to the file cabinet to get the right plug has been useful to me. They don't have a type D or F plug, which you should note if you need those. However, they have one horribly irritating flaw: the plugs themselves don't have any labels at all on them. You have to write the plug type in sharpie on them. Maybe I'm just not cosmopolitan enough, but I can't tell a type E (fat 2 pins) from a type C (thin 2 pins) without staring at both of them and at a website picture, and that's the last thing I want to do the night before I travel.

No ground connection

In several of these adapters (italian one, for example) there's no ground connector while is a common standard. Due to this missing connection, the machines with aluminum case can be very discomfortable to be used.

All apple power adapters are built switch mode

All of Apple's power supplies are 100-240Vac rated and use switch mode technology.
This means that the adapter is able to keep the output constant to your computer regardless of the input voltage from the wall.

MOST devices now days have this technology built into them.

I think this product is great. Just to let you know, the power cord has a built in voltage converter, so all you have to do is change the adapter. May have seemed obvious, but, not to me.

Excellent product for frequent travelers and expats

This set is particularly useful if you're living overseas or are frequently traveling there for longer durations. For shorter term travel, it's cheaper and easier to use the basic electronics converter (my husband does this for his PC). That being said, this set has been very useful to me. I spend a fair amount of time in Europe and it has been fantastic (and very convenient) to just switch out the plug rather than having to use a stand alone converter. It's a great product, but it's probably overkill for most overseas travelers.

I bought the kit when I was going to England to visit my sister over holidays and had a G4 at the time. I got a MacBook Air now and had to spend a long time in Germany and then China (although there was one hotel that seem to accommodate any plugs--quite cool actually).
I though it was too expensive when I was buying it but it has proved to be very very useful during the past 3 or 4 years I've owned it. It works for all mac laptops and it becomes just a part of your charger so you don't have to remember to bring extra bits and pieces all around. I think this is one of the most useful things I've ever bought.

Very Useful

This is a great product and did what I needed. The fact that it sticks to the normal charger is useful because when going on a trip to only one country I replace it before I leave and do not have to worry. Also, before I got this I was using a normal radio shack adapter. The problem was, that my macbook pro used to start vibrating and shocking me. The same thing happened with my powerbook g4, this product solved it. It can also be used with the iphone wall charger.

I'm in the military stationed in Europe and due to my job I do a lot of traveling. I purchased this kit 2 weeks ago before going to Africa and I was able to use it in 2 different coutries. My co-workers borrowed some adapters to charge their Ipods and were really pleased. I know I can buy other adapters that are cheaper but the Apple products are much better quality. Also, with non-apple adapters my power chord fits loose in the wall receptacle where as with my apple adapter is very sturdy. What can I say? You get what you pay for.

Works for Switzerland

I bought this product a couple of months ago assuming that it would work for both France and Switzerland (via the 2 prong European plug). I then read a few reviews saying that it didn't work for Switzerland. I did some research and the Swiss indeed use a different plug. However the standard European 2 prong plug included in the world travel kit fits into Swiss outlets. Some other 2 prong adapters do not since the Swiss outlet is sometimes set deeper into the wall.

To make a long story short, I spent quite a while trying to find a Swiss adapter plug for my laptop before I left - to no avail. Then I tried the Apple one when I arrived and it worked just fine.

The only downside is the kit is expensive... but so is everything else associated with Apple.

Adapter or Converter?

After living in Europe for 30 years I think I can be of some help concerning Adapters vs Converters. The key is to look on the back of the AC power adapter. Most Apple portable computers are: INPUT 100-240 V., 50-60 HZ. This means this machine has convertible voltage. USA has 110 voltage. Europe and most other countries are 240 voltage. Thus 100 - 240V. This also goes for hairdyers and other traveling appliances. ALWAYS check your power on your machine! Thus all you need to travel with a convertible voltage Apple is an ADAPTER. Voila!

They work just fine and if you're concerned about them not being labeled, then a Sharpie works quite well - Zen and the Art of Mac Maintenance.

It would be nice if they put ridges on the side so it's easier to grip when pulling off.

I Really like the adapter I just wish that there were Labels on each adapter, SInce I travel allot to foreign countries, and I have to figure out which adapter is for which outlet, They are not labeled "UK" or "China", they have no label. I also wish that they could charge more than your MacBook or Ibook. There is the Wall Plug and the Charger Plug, you place the adapter to your charger, having to remove the prongs. Rather than just plugging the adapter in.

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit

Works fine, but label the adapters!

I travel quite a bit, and the adapters work fine with my MacBook Pro and iPod. I've taken them to China, Japan, Taiwan, and Europe. India is next.

Keep in mind, the MacBook Pro's AC power adapter supports 50-60Hz and 120-240VAC, so a voltage converter may not be necessary.

My only complaint is the adapters aren't labeled. You have to keep the little instruction booklet handy so you know which adapter to bring with you. For example, the adapters for Korea and Continental Europe look similar, but they're different. It wouldn't have been hard to write "UK" on the UK adapter,etc. Or, if Apple is concerned that various countries will completely swap out their electrical infrastructures too frequently making the adapters out of date, they could put a big letter or number on each one, and then provide a table that maps the number or letter to the country.

It works perfectly & elegantly

As someone who travels between the US, the Philippines, Australia, & Hong Kong; let me say that this kit works perfectly.

I just simply change out the default North American Non-polarized 2-pin plug with either the Australian 2-pin V or Hong Kong/British 3 pin. Made by Apple so I don't have to worry if some cheap hardware or airport gift shop plug adapter will cause any damage. Besides, it slips right onto either my Macbook power brick or my iPod charger so it looks nice & elegant.

And like everyone else warns, remember that this just changes the plug so that it fits the socket. It doesn't change the voltage. Make sure your equipment can handle the local electrical voltage & frequency. If it can't, you'll need a power converter/transformer IN ADDITION to the plug adapter

My iPod charger & Macbook brick are rated for 100-240V & 50-60Hz so I should be safe for normal usage in the areas I travel in.
