Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Perfect
Written by EK from Bowling Green
Aug 15, 2007
I used this in Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Ireland, and Britain and it had everything I needed. Just change the plug and go. All you need to do is look at a power outlet on the wall to tell which end to use, and the variable nature of the power supply will keep your computer from frying due to too much or too little voltage. Definitely worth the cost if you ever travel (at least to Europe).

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Weak design and too short a tether
Written by JC from Stamford
Aug 3, 2007
This is a rather unfortunate design. Better than nothing which gets one star. It may serve for people who don't travel often or work in their rooms and who don't mind working off battery a lot and need light weight more than capability. This is one of the worst Apple designs in failing to understand travel needs.
Apple insists on using an Apple specific plug rather than a setup that would allow use of standard international standard connectors, which is the case with many power supplies and battery chargers.
Replacing the cord with a plug usually leaves us too far away to use the laptop plugged in. The fitting is non-standard, i.e. Apple specific. We found regular plug adapters more useful, but for the MacBook Pros, we've simply acquired replacement cords, i.e. French and British ends. We use standard adapters elsewhere. What these plugs do is leave you with a cord that is too short and a plug in setup that is awkward just as any direct plug brick is.
It does not make sense to travel with less than two meters of cord length, at least not in most places we stay.
We've worked to cut our clutter and increase flexibility when traveling. Our foreign plugged cords for a Canon battery charger has a standard fitting (looks like a figure 8) so that we can use it on almost anything but the Apple. We have compact coiled cords with interchangeable ends, i.e. plus can be changed on either end or one end plugged directly in a power supply, except for Apple.
There are good workarounds on powering the Macbook Pros. These plugs just don't happen to do anything for frequent travelers.125 of 218 people found this useful

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Useful for Mexico
Written by DE
Jul 28, 2007
I found the Apple World Travel Adapter kit very useful as I no longer have to go looking for adapters on most countries. As for Mexico, you can use the one intended for North America. As for those countries which are not included, for example Switzerland, at least is easier to find an adapter if you already have an european plug.

No plug for Switzerland
Written by RR from Chicago
Jul 1, 2007
Like many other things with the Swiss (the currency, EU participation, banking disclosure regulations, etc), they've decided to go solo with their choice of electrical outlet layouts. Unfortunately, Apple's World Travel Adapter Kit does not have this covered. UK - yes, France - no sweat, Germany - OK, Switzerland - Sorry. So, if your European travel includes a stop in Switzerland, you'll need to make other arrangements for adapting your power to the Swiss plugs.
I bought a US - Swiss plug adapter at a Swiss store and then had to modify it to accommodate my Apple power supply.
I sure hope Apple comes up with a Swiss adapter like all the other European ones.153 of 230 people found this useful

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Does the Job
Written by LB from Columbus

As advertised, you get a selection of adaptors for Apple's standard wall wart. Worked fine for me during a trip to NZ with my iPod. Getting ready to head back there permanently with a Powerbook and I expect it will continue to serve me well in NZ and elsewhere. A rugged travel/carrying case would be a nice addition.

Not bad!
Written by SP from Washington

It is absolutely useful if you travel around the world. It fits perfect to original adapter. However, I wish each plug list the countries that you can use-some are very confusing even you look at the manual (e.g., Europe and Korea)
It would be much convenient to list countries on each kit.

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Perfect for Mac and iPod users who travel
Written by EB from Edison

I bought this because I'm going to Europe soon and I want to bring my laptop with me. The idea of taking the US plug out and plugging in one from a different country is a great idea, I just wish that these also worked with non-apple power adapters

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Very Slick!
Written by CM from Madison

I took the Europe 2-pronged adapter to Germany with me, and it worked wonderfully with both my G3 iBook and my iPod nano. The general converters in airports or travel stores may work, but this is much more secure. I would be nervous about the weight of the adapter pulling the prongs out of a general plug converter like that, but this held very well. I had a firewire adapter from an older iPod, and had none of the problems others have reported with it frying their nano. Keep in mind this is to replace the little chunk on the white power adapter block that comes with the products, and nothing more. No cords, no adapters. Just little plugs so you can physically stick your adapter into the wall.
My only criticism is that they are not available to be bought seperately. I'm preparing to study in Australia, taking my laptop and iPod with me, but won't be able to plug both in at the same time.113 of 161 people found this useful

I've never gone farther than philedaphia but my friend who moved to england bought an iBook G4 and needed to plug in at home! So I gave him my plug and he says it is a pain to have to put the little bit on but it is good that apple made this product.

Not bad for the price
Written by RM from San Jose

I am here in Germany and I just bought the adapter for Europe Continetal, a two round-prong type adapter. By itself this thing cost me 13 Euro, so that comes to about $16.00. So, for another $34.00 you are getting several more.
Of course you can always just buy one huge universal plug and carry that around with you.

Disppointment
Written by ST from Ipswich
Dec 31, 2006
I'm such a apple fan, & have been for 14 years, but I have to say that this is such a money making con! 99% of people don't need all these adapters for around the world! All I needed was a UK adapter (for my girlfriend who doesn't have a computer) & I was shocked to find out that apple don't seem to sell UK adapters separatly! WHY?? Its such a basic service that apple should offer! ipods ain't cheap, and you can get MP3 players alot cheaper (Im happy to pay more as its apple) but its very poor that I would need to spend $40 just so I can charge up an ipod! Infact it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a charge included in the pack with the ipod, as not everyone in the world as a computer! Anyway if you need a UK adapter you can get one off ebay for $1 (a fraction of the apple Kit price) from a third party company!!

You are going to take your charger anyway; why not take the proper plug and leave your US plug at home? Sure you will probably take a US to whatever adapter for your razor, but outside of cost, there is no down side here...

I travel all over the world, and of course, I bring my iPod with me everywhere. Since I stay at hotels when I travel, and have no access to a computer, these came it major handy when my iPod ran out of batteries. It's expensive, but if you travel to many places and won't have computer access, it's worth the buy.

Great product with one exception - no extension cord adaptor
Written by AL from Alamo
Dec 23, 2006
This kit looks like it covers just about all you would need when traveling, except that the plugs only connect to the power adaptor, and does not come with an adaptor for the extension cord. Apple should make an adaptor that fits on the extension cord that Apple makes with the standard 3-prong U.S. plug that has the "male" connector to create an extension cord to work with all the travel adaptors in the kit.

A Simple Search....
Written by DV from New Haven
Dec 10, 2006
...online for international electrical power plugs by country will let you know which plugs based on the countries listed above will work with this Adapter Kit. I am planning a trip to Jakarta, Indonesia and will most likely make this purchase as it conforms to 2 of 3 power plugs used there. I would be nice if Apple listed ALL the countries in which the current plugs can be used OR included all adapters (A-M) in the kit, but a little research on your part can certainly answer your questions.

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Response to South African user
Written by BB from Hamilton
Dec 10, 2006
Your complaint about this product, calling it a "Capitalist World" kit is ignorant. The "type M" electrical plug is used in South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, and Hong Kong. Four, out of 193 (194 if you include Taiwan) countries in the world use this type of plug. And even these countries use other kinds of plugs. If you did some research before travelling, you would have found this out.
Otherwise, this is an excellent product, and covers enough of the world to be worth it's cost.92 of 143 people found this useful

Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
Vague product documentation
Written by CT from Platteville
Nov 26, 2006
I travel a lot, and this kit has come in handy several times. My only complaint is about the vague product documentation. Apple really needs to list EVERY COUNTRY that the kit applies to. I had to call the Apple Customer Service Department to find out if it would work in South America -- specifically, in Argentina. The person I spoke to couldn't even give me a definitive answer to my question. I was told, "It should work." In the end, it DID work in Argentina.
The technical pamphlet packaged inside the kit doesn't provide much information. After research, I'm still confused about whether an adapter is needed in Japan. The prongs are the same as in North America, but I believe the current is different so an adapter may be needed.

Worldwide use - important information
Written by TK from MÜHLHEIM AM MAIN

I find this kit pretty cool for my iPod charger to be used around the world. For a hand full of plug adapters this is pretty much money in comparison to the price of the power supply. To find out if it could be useful for you, just take a look into the APC knowledge base figuring out the type of plug, voltage and frequency used in your desired destination country. Maybe you do not need an adaptor at all. APC faqid=3057
