    Not a fan

I bought this case for my 5s after having my old phone water damaged and beat up by regular use without a case. I purchased my phone with my own money that i spent a year saving up so I wanted to protect my investment. It turns out there was a lot of cons to this. First of all the call quality is horrible. Without the case its crystal clear and I have no issues but with the case my voice is faint and none of my friends or family can hear me and often misunderstand me, which creates more problems. 2. My Touch ID rarely works and I have tried all tips for setup with this case. This really bothers me. 3. The Ports are a hassle to open. The charging port requires nails and after opening it my nails are often cracked or scratched. The audio Port also does not work with my beats studio cables so i have to use the adapter with takes a while to put in and is highly inconvienient when i'm on the go. 4. The mute button doesn't work at all and I have to take off the case which is quite a task just to mute my phone before tests etc... 5. My camera is dusted over like crazy and it is impossible to clean with my micro fibre cloth .Overall this case is kind of false advertised because really it's not very accesible or slim and it makes usage difficult. I'm gonna switch to otter box.

    Take care around water!

Case for iPhone 5c worked twice in water. Third time fried the phone. I wouldn't buy these if you plan on putting it in water often. Otherwise seems like a good case.

    More like "Talk proof"

    • Written by from Palm Bay

I do not like this case. I got it for free when I upgraded my old iphone through Verizon. I liked the fact it was durable and had a clear case so people could see my gold back of my new phone. Well people cannot hear me talk. I cannot tell you HOW many times I have talked to my friends and they stop me and say "What? I'm sorry you're breaking up, I can't hear you." After several times it sure gets annoying...

Also, on speaker phone people cannot hear me all the time and I have to kind of yell into the phone. I like to use speaker when I drive so this does not help.

It does look pretty and sleek, so I will give it that, but the whole point of a phone is to talk, so if people cannot hear you clearly, what is the point... Also, when I play my Pandora it is not as clear with the music coming out as it was prior to this case...

I guess I got it for free since it's not a great case and they are wanting to get rid of it... Just a guess.

    Not very satisfied

I have the 5c and I got water in it with the lifeproof. I had to get a new phone and new lifeproof. The home button is hard to press. The case itself is bulky to me and is very easy to slip out of your hand.

No One Can Hear Me; Otherwise Decent (Although Expensive) Case

    • Written by from Boulder

I have tested multiple Nüüd cases on multiple iPhone 5S phones in multiple locations in town with multiple callers. With the case, no one can hear me on a phone call. Without it, they people hear me perfectly. There is clearly a sound issue with this case.

    Not the same LifeProof

    • Written by from Henderson

I currently have the LifeProof nuud for iPhone 5S. I've also owned the pre-Otterbox Fre case. There is a night and day difference in quality between these cases. My chief complaints with the nuud case are:
    1. The case vibrates horribly when playing music through the internal speaker. The old LifeProof cases acted like a sub-woofer, this case destroys the sound.
    2. The Opening/cover for the TouchID sensor is raised and too small. I've reset my fingerprints twice and now, only one finger is recognized.
    3. The microphone is useless while in "speaker" mode during phone calls. NO ONE can understand a thing I say in speaker mode.
    4. The material used in the nuud case feels slick and harder than the old case. It makes my iPhone feel clunky and slippery.
    5. Minor point but the cover for the power port is EXTREMELY hard to open. It usually takes me three or four tries to get it open.

The only good thing I can say is thus far, it's been waterproof. It's a pity really. I loved my previous LifeProof case but it appears that things have changed for the worse since being bought by Otterbox.

    Muffled voice

    • Written by from Houston

I exchanged my first lifeproof case believing I must have purchased a defective product. The next one I got had the same problem: no one on the receiving end could understand what I was saying unless there is zero background noise and I concentrate on speaking very clearly. Also, the home button and mute buttons are stiff, making them very difficult to use.
I am sure it protects the phone better than other cases, but I'm not sure it is worth the trade-offs. I'm going to try the bulky otter box next.

    I am disappointed.

    • Written by from Pleasanton

I can't get the charger port open for the life of me, the front camera is so dusty and difficult to clean, and the headphone port doesn't allow me to use any other headphones than the ones apple provides (coincidence? I think not). Lastly I can't plug my phone into the aux cord in my car because there isn't enough room.

    Not very good.

    • Written by from Columbus

Here are the problems I've had with this case:

    1) The speakers sound HORRIBLE with this thing on, and the microphone doesn't work well either. No one can hear me clearly even when I have 5 bars of LTE.

    2) Although the standard iPhone earbuds fit through the small opening of the case without the included adapter, most other headphones and car auxiliary jacks do not fit without said adapter.

    3) The rubber parts of the case scuff and scratch very easily, and a hard plastic part of the case scratched pretty deeply just from my fingernail (and I'm a guy so I don't have long nails).

    4) LifeProof claims that this case can survive drops from up to seven feet which I find hard to believe. I dropped the case from 5 feet while I was in the shower and the twist-off earbud piece broke, which could have let water in had I not taken it out of the shower right away.

The only reason why I am still using this case is because, just like a lot of products on the market, there isn't anything better for the purpose it serves. Hopefully this will change soon.

    Problem with controls

    • Written by from Durham

This phone has great feel and excellent features. However to keep it waterproof, the cover makes it very hard to use some of the buttons on the side of the phone. For instance, I could not use the switch to mute or turn on ringing at all since the cover makes it impossible to flip the switch up and down.
I think for travel when I need a waterproof phone, this will work well. For everyday use, it doesn't make the grade, especially given the expense.
