    Fuelband SE

    • Written by from Port Washington

I had the original Fuelband and until the button broke (9 months in) it worked great. While Nike was nice enough to give me the new one at no cost (Kudos to them), the new one has been nothing but trouble. It hasn't seemed to hold its charge for more than a day (the original did so for more than a week), syncing is repeatedly not functional and the website availability this week has been spotty. Stay with your original until they get the new one working, which I suspect will take some time. And now they're in a hurry to get blinged versiouns on the shelves. Get a working product out. This is very un-Nike like

    Horrible sync & set-up

    • Written by from Murray

The Fuelband se has to be the most difficult and cumbersome product ever sold by Nike. Brand new out of the box requires a firmware up-date and will not sync to multiple computers (windows desktop or Mac). Has to be hard reset multiple times and installed/un-installed on multiple computers to get it to sync and start up. Bluetooth 4.0 is a joke. Fuelband se will not sync to iPhone 4s. Why would Nike release a product that isn't ready to be used with ease? Cool idea and nice design. 3 stars assuming they work out the syncing issues. The release on an iWatch will put this product of out commission.

    Great Motivational Tool

    • Written by from Alexandria

I just bought this today and used it this evening when working out. I would definitely say to get to know it before using it for first workout. I would suggest to use the app for a bit and make sure you understand it. It can be somewhat confusing but once you understand whats going on with it and how to set it up it's very easy. Setup is a breeze with the online tools. I look forward to getting more Fuel from it.

broken clasp already, awful sync, flaky app

    • Written by from Vancouver

Actually, I like a lot about the product, but there are just too many problems to recommend it (and much harder to forgive because it’s a 2nd generation product). The clasp started popping open on day 3 while running hard, just from jostling. Setup, configuration and sync are all generally awful. The app is (still at 2.0.2) unstable and has to be force quit and relaunched to re-pair. Maybe that will be fixed in an update, but meanwhile it makes a terrible impression.

All this was a big hassle even for me, and moms won’t stand a chance — even tech-savvy moms!

Lots of potential, but tons of rough edges. Beware.

Credit where due: when I griped about the product on Twitter, Nike support noticed and contacted me. So there’s that.

    Disappointed

    • Written by from Burlington

The new FuelBand has connectivity issues with my iPod.

The new FuelBand now gives me less points than the original even when I do intense workouts, because of this I am unable to compete with my friends who have the older band. Since it provides less points I am unable to track my progress and continue from were I left off and it is now less rewarding every time I wear it.

I have also noticed some lag when it displays the LED information.

The only thing going for the new one is that it's more water resistant which does not even make a difference unless you want to get a few more points in the shower (LOL).

Overall I was very disappointed in this product. I feel like I am using a prototype.

To leave on a more positive note, I like the double tap time feature and the look of the new bands.

    Sleep tracking really?

    • Written by from Paris

Nike advertises that the new Fuel Band SE tracks sleep. That's a big joke! It is no more than a sleep timer. No analysis of the sleep quality with light and deep sleep at all. Besides that the app is full of bugs with sync problems, you loose Nike Fuel, goals and badges...

    Terrible, Beware not significant changes.

    • Written by from Winter Springs

The day it came out, I headed to the Apple store and purchased one. One of the features that I was sold was the ability to track sleep like the fitbit one which I lost a week earlier ( after one day of playing with the device I realized that it was only a gimmick) It was the same Fuelband as the original, the app stunk and the people at fitbit send me a replacement free of charge. Now I am going to get the fitbit force and use their far superior app and support system, so beware just because a product is Nike not always is the best. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!

    Product Should be Recalled

    • Written by from White Plains

I had the original armband. It was fun to use. The new SE takes the fun out of using it and makes it extremely frustrating to use primarily because there are so many problems. Sometimes pairing doesn't work, sometimes I can't sync. I lost all my trophies, didn't get trophies on winning streaks. I don't know what Nike was thinking but this product is poor-get a FitBit and you'll be much happier.

    No sleeptracking, some connectivity issues

    • Written by from Moscow

It is my first Nike bracelet and my first activity tracker at all (except some tracking experience using iPhone apps) and in general I like this product.

First disappointment was that it is actually do not track sleep activity. You can just start a session and select "Sleep" type for it, and after that you can see sleep time and fuel you got from it. As for every activity, you can specify location and friends with who you slept, get cheers and share it on Facebook...

Also some issue with iPhone integration. Sometimes it lost bluetooth connection, sometimes Nike+ service is unavailable. This leads to situation when you can see some strange results in iPhone app and need to wait some time while bluetooth connection is restored and app is synced with bracelet. Not a big deal, but it leads to issues with "Win the hour" feature which can skip some reminders or not properly track the hours you actually won. Yesterday I had 11 hours won in my app and only 4 displayed on bracelet.

Would love to see proper sleeptracking with "easy wake up" feature using vibro in feature product. Also vibro would be great for "win the hour" notifications displayed on bracelet, not pushed by the iPhone app.

Battery life is good, appearance is good, size adjusting is good. Would like to see software updates to get rid of sync issues.

Outstanding motivational tool for improving overall fitness

    • Written by from NEW ROCHELLE

There is a simple elegance to this product that will benefit anyone interested in improving their overall fitness level. First, wear it daily for a week to get a baseline. Then choose a daily target to aspire to. You'll find yourself taking the stairs more often; parking the car a little further from the grocery store, going for a walk during your lunch hour. You'll be looking for ways to earn points. The Nike iPhone app will reward you with accolades for your efforts which will inspire you to push further.

Resist the temptation to dissect Nike's proprietary Fuelpoint system. Like any other activity tracking device (including heart rate monitors, pedometers, fitness machine calorie calculators, etc) it is neither perfect nor an exact scientific measurement. However, it will keep you in tune to how much you are moving which will, for many, drive you to move more often - which is the whole point.

I've had mine for about 4 months and wear it every day. I take it off at night. Battery can last for several days and charges easily via standard USB port. I have accidentally gone swimming with it without incident (note: Nike does not claim it to be water proof). This simple device created an awareness that has removed me from the couch and played a key role in loosing over 40 pounds.

    Cant sync properly at all

    • Written by from Ithaca

The bracelet has done wonders to motivate me, but its currently a half baked product. Sync simply doesn't work unless you force restart the app. And if it DOES sync without a restart, it doesn't know what day it is the second time you refresh. Gave me the same score on a second day and a bunch of badges i didn't earn. As soon as you restart the app and resync, all disappear and a correct score displays. They rushed it for xmas, and its obv they didnt care if a good product shipped.

    Upgraded from v1.0

    • Written by from Chicago

I purchased Nike's first version of the Fuelband in July 2012 and received the Fuelband SE as a Christmas gift.

    Pros
Upgraded HW - Better HW response, faster LCD scrolling, Bluetooth LE (better battery life), and data sync is very fast.

    Cons
Nike needs to refine the algorithm to allow the calculation of other activities like bike riding and yoga. I would like to see more integration with other apps like weight tracking. Neither are show-stoppers (for me), but are nice to haves.

    Not ready for prime time?

    • Written by from Cuba

A year ago I owned the 1st Gen FuelBand and found it generally trouble-free (until it died after a year of continuous use!) and the Nike software/infrastructure relatively responsive and reliable.

My experience (since December 2013) with the new SE model has been far less satisfactory. The device works well some days but the bluetooth connection can drop out for no apparent reason (and it's difficult to re-connect without rebooting the iPhone).

The Nike+ website is often "down" or won't accept my attempts to log on. When I do get logged in successfully, the data recorded doesn't match what I see on my iPhone.

Nike+ support is, in general, helpful and sympathetic but I've had FAR more issues with the SE than I had with the first model AND the problems are more annoying.

Nike's development of this product seems to be moving backwards, not forwards.

    Good Tracking

    • Written by from Cumming

I have the original Fuel Band and love it. For Christmas, purchased the SE for my mother to help keep her motivated on her walks. Does a great job. Noticed a lot of people having issues with the set up. Setting hers up was quick and simple. Took less than 5 minutes. Syncing with her iPhone is great and fast. Just wish this was water proof and had the ability to add a heart rate monitoring sensor. But for a motivation tool and decent tracking, the FuelBand is a great product.

    Issues? Where?

    • Written by from Edgerton

Not sure why there's all the bad reviews online - I've had zero issues with syncing/data/online/band/etc. Using the SE with iPhone 5s and synced to both an iMac and a windows desktop. So far - loving this thing! Fit for me was great as well, without an extender either (included in the package). 6'3" - 220lbs and the M/L fits great!

    Not very good

    • Written by

While this might work well for walking and running it does not work well for Biking, eliptical etc. My husband actually go thousands of points for golfing....with a cart. It is not able to differentiate different activities at all. For simple motivation....it is okay.

Starts off great but battery life eventually starts to die daily...

    • Written by from Ottawa

This is the third time my FuelBand starts to drain the battery after less than a day. At first, it starts off lasting almost over a week. I do Martial Arts and go to the gym regularly. Eventually the battery starts to lose its power faster from over a week, to 5 days, down to 3 days to now it will not even last a day.

This my only complaint about the FuelBand. I had the original edition and had to return it because of the battery. The SE came out and I upgrade and again I had to exchange it because of the battery. The current one is now at home. I am too frustrated to deal with Nike.

Nike needs a better way to exchange the device. I have to send the damaged one in and they have to test it first before sending me the replacement. So I am out at least two to three weeks.

    Excellent product

    • Written by from langley

My husband bought his first and wore it daily for about a year before I bought mine . I also put it on first thing in the morning and keep it on all day . Once you get used to how it works it really motivates me and I love knowing exactly how I am doing that day . Several of our friends have now purchased and love the fuel band . It is fun to set your goal and see how you can accomplish it . The web page when you sync and charge it is really fun as well . I love all the information it provides .

    Worth Every Penny

    • Written by from honeybrook

While I can understand the issues everyone posts I personally love my Fuel Band. My first one was replaced free of any charge by Nike after a few of the lights blew out but the replacement is working just fine. Combined with an iPhone you can truly unlock all of its abilities in the best way. My first fuel band was linked to my old Android device and while it was still a great product it is nothing compared to being linked with the iPhone (just my personal opinion). Either way you can not go wrong purchasing a Fuel Band. It is worth every penny. It is very stylish and just overall a very cool product as well. I highly recommend the Fuel Band.

    Sync Problems

    • Written by from Beaverton

I have owned the Fuel Band SE for about 2 months. I love the features of the band, and as other users say, it keeps me motivated. I like it more now that I have discovered "Sessions" for walking, training, etc. Those times when you aren't using your arms too much so Fuel points are harder to track. My biggest issue with the product is it's inability to sync properly. I have the Iphone 4s and I have had trouble getting it to sync properly with my phone. I contacted Nike customer service and tried everything I was told to do and now it won't connect at all! It is very frustrating and now I will have to send it back and wait for a replacement. Their customer service team is fantastic and very helpful, so I am hoping getting a new band fixes the issue.
