    Intermittent. DO NOT TRUST.

    • Written by from San Jose

This system is intermittent at best. And worst of all, the app will tell you your system is armed and protected, but in reality, you are at risk.

I've been away on Christmas vacation for 1 day. The system said it was working. Then my internet went down at my house for an hour (thanks Comcast!). When it came back up, I was not able to connect to the smart alarm!

The tech support told me that if internet goes down, you must physically reboot the smart alarm system.

Read that last sentence again. What use is a security system if it is so easily defeated by an internet outage? Now I can understand if the system doesn't work while the internet is down, but why doesn't it automatically come back online like any other internet connected device?

What a total piece of garbage. Going back to the store as soon as I get back from my vacation. Now I just hope someone doesn't break into my totally unprotected house!

    Easy and Affordable

    • Written by from New York

I first got the iSmart alarm from Amazon.com a couple months back and had my doubts at first but immediately realized how useful this system is. Here are my general thoughts listed below.

Super Simple to install (probably took me less than 30 minutes and no tools needed).
App is free and surprisingly easy to use and connects with the device well.
No Monthly bullcrap. Price is amazing.
    Looks cool.
Batteries last very long, easy to replace.
Key Fob is a great addition. I have a dog and it tells me when he's out or in.

Some outages with the system. Here or there an hour or so. But I've left note with the devs, still waiting to hear back.
no accessories. Assuming this has something to do with them being new on the market?
60 sec delay before alarm goes off. Biggest one for me because it's a UI thing, not a bug. Others I'm just waiting on these guys to fix over time.

Overall I'm satisfied because it's so little hassle and also quite fun to use. I can watch my living room at work if I needed to. Giving it a full five.

    Better then expected !!!

    • Written by from Ottawa

Easy installation, system works exactly as I expected, great ! I have no connectivity issues, i never have to reboot my cube if I lose internet connection, it reconnects itself. Besides, given most providers have 95% and higher uptime it's not an issue for me. It reconnects even if I reboot my own router. I get an alert telling me if cube disconnects, easy to check back with using the app, which is easy to use. Best part, no monthly fees ! Customer service is great ! Great forum ! 10/10 !!! I also hear they have more products in the pipeline to enhance ismartalarm !

An alarm system should be reliable, but this one is not. Have had it since June/2013. The system never tells you when off line(at least an e-mail), and then when the system is off line it is totally uncontrollable. Just last night I armed the system(at least I thought I did, because the feedback I received it was), and woke up this morning and found that the system was not armed. Have been trying to connect to it since this morning with no success(after powering down, etc. Their server may be down again.) Definitely would not recommend this, too unreliable for what it is supposed to be and what they promise. Maybe a couple years from now.

This device just an expensive toy!

    • Written by from Orlando

Do not waste your money on this device.. good idea, but terrible product, little to no support.
almost always fail to connect, 3 weeks of using it and I have to return it. Read the forum on their site if you must buy.

    Love it!! Total,reliability

    • Written by from jacksonville

Bought this and cancelled my $35 a month monitored system. Yay!! Instant updates when doors or windows open and close with the system disarmed, notifications when the key fobs come and go. Have nt had a single complaint about the system. When it goes off it lets everyone know and gives you the option to call 911 or another number. I now have all my windows and doors from my garage to the back porch monitored with either contact sensors or motion detectors (20 total) and haven't had a single complaint ~ except the alarm isn't really LOUD. I use Drop cams and if anything alerts, I can check before going into panic mode if I am not home...something that hasn't happened yet. But, being able to tell 911 you are looking at a burglary in you house on your cameras after the alarm goes off turns a routine low priority alarm call into a priority and keeps it from being a report writing exercise for the police. Having total autonomous control over my alarm system feels a lot better than relying on somebody else off in Kansas or India.

A smart system that keeps you informed

    • Written by from Cupertino

I recently installed the Deluxe Package of the iSmartAlarm system and find it is very useful.
Everytime the door is opened you get notification. If the alarm is triggered you will receive a phone alarm and a photo snapshot of the site.
It is easy to install and the App is very user friendly.

    Excellent Product!

    • Written by from Brighton

I was a little skeptical when checked he reviews, but I desired to buy it anyways, and I don't regretted..So far the product is been great. I loved how I control the whole house from anywhere I go, and tells me exactly which window or door has been open. The Motion detector works great, it does the job, also for those who don't have Smart phones, the remote control works as a GPS. It tell you where people are located and when someone arrives home which is awesome. The only problem I see is the the SIREN is not loud enough having an external SIREN, as well as GAS, and monoxide carbon detector would be great!

I've had this installed for 8 months now, near flawless (had to reboot system once in the early months due to a firmware upgrade). It's customizable, expandable and dependable. System Will not contact police, which is what I wanted, sends notifications, texts and phone calls to all of the numbers you specify IMMEDIATELY upon alarm being triggered. You have the ability to customize ALL of the notifications (less/more notifications, delays on alarm triggering, whether or not to notify you if door opens when alarm is off (great if you have little kids), etc). Audible alarm is loud enough to wake me. No monthly fees! Looking forward to company putting out more options (light control, etc), supposedly in the works. I highly recommend this product.

    Suits my needs perfectly.

    • Written by from Miami

We have a home alarm with central monitoring already, and we have no plans to discontinue the service. The reason that I purchased the iSmartAlarm system is because we are planning to renovate our master bedroom and bath. During this time, my wife and I will move into one of the other bedrooms and take all of our valuables with us.

Because my wife and I work there will be times when to contractors will be working when we are not present. All other bedrooms in the house have been made off-limits to the contractors. It is the other bedrooms that are now monitored by iSmartAlarm. The first contractor that violates the instruction about off-limit spaces will be in for a surprise and I won't take to it kindly.

BTW, even with our conventional alarm we have been broken into twice and suffered massive losses. Any alarm system can be defeated.

    Nice for the price

    • Written by from Midland

Great system that does as advertised. love the door chime with having kids. Everything works right out of the box not sure why some people have problems. Can't wait for upgrades which are coming like battery backup, extra sirens, outside cameras/sensors. If you like apple products you'll like this plus no monthly payment. 5 stars when it gets some upgrades.

    Review of product

    • Written by from Edmonton

Looks:- Looks similar to iphone style is what attracted me to this device.
Installation:- easy to install and configure
Phone Service:- phone calling service is good provided their server got good reliability factor.
Value for money:- good provided this is second line of defence.

Reliability:- it is NOT a foolproof system. There is time lag between dis-arm and re-arm.
Robust design:- this system will NOT re-connect if power or internet connect fails. PIR are also NOT that good quality.
Customer Support and Refund:- Customer support may be a big challenge as it is in US and they have limited days to support. Return and refund are usually discourage.
Less flexible:- you have to deal with manufacture for ordering additional items or after sales warranty support. All the best itch that.
