Good idea with some huge drawbacks

    • Written by from lakeport

I bought this and installing the film was easy. However the number tabs on the film are cheap paper and ripped up and left paper and glue residue on the both of my films. All attempts to use class cleaner and rubbing alcohol further ruined both of my films and both films needed up in the trash. These tabs need to be made of high quality plastic with a non-glue stick. This ruined both of my films and a total waste of money.

Terrible -- why is this is the Apple Store's only option?

    • Written by from Vancouver

I bought the Belkin Iris for iPhone 5 / 5s several months ago at my local Apple Store. It was the only non-"privacy" screen protector they carried, so I thought it would be decent... but it was not. It claims to be anti-glare, but I found it to be about as susceptible to glare as an unprotected screen. Worse, however, the protector scratched very easily -- much more so than similar products I've had for my previous iPhones.

It stayed bubble-free for several months, but eventually spontaneously developed a set of bubbles about an inch from the edge of the screen that refused to go away, via squeegee or anything else I tried. When the scratches and bubbles became too much and I finally decided to replace it with a different screen protector, it left about two-thirds of my screen covered in a sticky residue after I peeled it off -- again, something I've never seen a screen protector do over the span of six years and four models of iPhone.

Terrible. Not recommended. Apple should stop selling these.

    Don't Even Try This

    • Written by from Calgary

This application system is garbage. Honestly don't even trick yourself into thinking its a good idea. Maybe it fits better on the 5s but I went through both of my films and now have to go buy a different brand due to the fact that dust was allowed to recollect from the lifting the film (tab 1) and an unbelievable amount of bubbles formed from laying the film (tab 2).

    Believe the Bad Reviews

    • Written by from WAYNE

I bought a new iPhone 5S yesterday and bought the Belkin film in the Apple store on the recommendation of their employee. I stumbled through the installation of the first film, and I now have air bubbles all over the screen. The only instructions were 7 confusing pictures, and in end I never did figure out how to use the "Easy Install Frame." Why didn't Belkin invest a few pennies and provide written instructions? Terrible. Back to the store I go to get an employee to install the film after wasting the first film.

Great in theory, poor in execution

    • Written by from Scottsdale

ON the face of it, this appears to be a solid product. A bit pricy, but it would seem they have made advancements in how the film is applied, which is great and welcome. The problem is that out of the box, one of the films had clear damage, which I tried to cut off, only to find that this created other problems. The second film had a black spec, which sort of looked like a micro bead under the film, and upon trying to remove it, the film was scratched. Very easily I might add. I was surprised by the fragility of this product!

Anyway, next was to call Belkin, and after 3 attempts, couldn't get through. Thanks for a mediocre product backed by mediocre service and support.

Find another anti-glare product, save some money, and hope for the best. This product really doesn't cut it.

    HORRIBLE

    • Written by from Lorton

I HATE THIS PRODUCT. It is absolutely terrible. The easy frame is totally non-sensical. The directions on the box were not helpful in any way, shape, or form. I finally got it to work and there were bubbles on the screen that I could not get off. Terrible product. If possible, I would give this thing negative stars.

THE most pathetic screen cover I've ever seen

    • Written by from Knoxville

Wish I could rate this 0 stars. The pack comes with two screen covers and both were wasted in the application process. They also both had scratches on the film that was there previous to opening the package. There are incredibly vague illustrated instructions with no words whatsoever. There is a sticker on the screen protector with enough adhesive to hold a building together that will not come off. Even if you try to scratch it off, the screen cover will be ruined because of the scratch marks and bending the cover in the process. This is the biggest waste of $20 I've spent in a while. DO NOT BUY. BE ASHAMED BELKIN.

Worthless. Use a credit card, like the old days.

    • Written by from Allendale

Directions consist of rotten pictures and no words. It laid out a layer of dust on my pristine phone. A piece of junk. The first pack I purchased had a wadded-up film tucked in the box. I thought it was just teenagers fooling with it. Now I know it was an irate customer slapping it back on the display. What a waste of money. DO NOT BUY.

    Avoid...Here's Why:

    • Written by from Las Vegas

    My experience with this product:

    1. Use enclosed sticky piece to remove all dust from the iPhone
    2. Click on "easy guide" to set up putting on the film
    3. Carefully following the steps, remove the adhesive covering from the film and put onto iPhone.
    4. Realize that using the frame and it's adhesive covering according to the directions puts even more dust on to the iPhone face when you lower your new anti-glare film to it.

Yes, applying as directed put fresh dust on the iPhone to the point where the film was not usable. I tried again with the second film, wiping the phone again to get off dust and it didn't help. I got ripped off for $20 including tax. I'm very unhappy about that and think that Belkin should be ashamed for scamming customers this way.

    Epic fail

    • Written by from Rye Brook

This "Apple Exclusive" model, F8W437wwAPL, does not exist according to Belkin, and if you key in the number it will return NO RESULTS FOUND on the Belkin site. No hope finding instructions beyond the crude pictograms on the inside front flap of the product packaging.

After Apple store employee failed (thanks for trying) to install film #1, I took this home to research proper installation. Guess what? There is no information available, and contacting Belkin leads to them telling they cannot find this product in their system and suggesting returning it to the place of purchase.

The frame seems an impediment to application. Having successfully installed numerous films on my iPhone and iPad, I have learned how to control dust in the application environment and let the film flow onto the surface. This "Easy Install" frame might be easy if there were any written instructions, but the minimalist hieroglyphs are a puzzle. And the fact that nowhere on Apple's or Belkin's sites is there any information whatsoever does not help.

    Aarrrrrrgh!

Ruined the first one because the instructions are not clear. Second had bubbles after putting it. Recommended at the store being easy to install. Would not spend $17 for this piece of c**p.

Not so easy frame (unless you love air bubbles)

    • Written by from Newtown

The old style Belkin film was much easier to apply. Just ruined two of these new design easy frame films. This is a classic case of fixing a problem that didn't exist and making a product worse. Stay away.
