Perfect bag for work and pleasure

    • Written by from Austin

This bag is great! I picked this after seeing the cocoon in person. Im 6ft so this bag was a perfect size. It holds everything nice and snug. It also has good padding for my mbp, a cool hard lined section for my glasses, extra space for tablets, good padded shoulder straps and back padding. I use it every day to walk to work. And when I am traveling it has plenty of room for passports, devices and more.

Had it for 3 months and cant think of a con. It is a backpack after all. Does exactly what you need it too.

Great backpack and greater warranty support

    • Written by from Naperville

My son purchased one of these for college and loved it but after two years of constant use, one of the zippers on the main compartment broke and the backpack wouldn't stay fully closed. I went to the Thule website and sent an email about the backpack failure under normal use. They asked me to fill out an online form and attach two photos of the backpack and within a week, I had a brand new backpack! This is what I call customer service! This was well worth the purchase price!

    Very good, but not flawless.

This is a very good backpack, and I won't repeat what others have already said. There are two things I'd consider before buying this product, though.

    1. If you're planning to carry expensive electronics, beware that the bottom of the backpack has no protection whatsoever (except for the laptop compartment, which is 'decent'.

    2. I don't find vertical zips useful at all, and I think the volumes of the two parts of the backpack should be a little more balanced: the smaller section is quite small.

But this is a high-quality product, and looks/feels sturdy enough.

Nice! Appears to be VERY durable, fits all my stuff and then some!

I trust the Thule name -- they make other great products that I've had good success with.

At any rate, this backpack is replacing an Everki pack that has a separating strap (not to mention it got pee'd on by my stupid dog yesterday, LOL). This pack is streamlined, and has tons of room for your gear. The Safe Zone compartment is nice -- I fit my retractable USB cables, phone charger, headphone amp, glasses, and Westone UM3X earphones (in their case) inside here with no issues. Lots of zippable compartments for Thunderbolt video / network adapters, etc.

The straps are internally reinforced, so I don't expect any issues with tearing or separation here. The pattern and design is pretty cool, and I expect to have this backpack for quite a while. If my dog decides to take a leak on this one, I'll be getting a new dog, and THEN another new one of these. ;)

Used to have an Incase Compact 17", after almost 4.5 years it started tearing apart at the seams. Decided to go with the Thule Crossover, very happy with it. Seems very durable, which is perfect for someone like me who is always dealing with different weather elements. Spacious and places to put water bottles! Very good for organization.

    Rugged and Durable Backpack

    • Written by from Buena Park

I have used an Incase Compact 17" backpack for about 2 years. My biggest gripe was that all the seams were tearing and the construction just felt like cheap nylon. I also didn't have a place to put my water bottle. As a college student who spends 8 hours on campus everyday, I need to bring all my gear with me. Including snacks and water. The Thule 21L Backpack has storage capacity for all that and more. It has room for about 2 1" binders. My 15" MBP non-retina fits snug. My iPad mini fits snug as well. There is a side zipper towards the backside of the backpack to access your iPad without having to open the main compartment. The construction of all the straps and just the material of the backpack itself feels really durable. I can lift the backpack with my gear in it without worrying if the strap is going to rip at the seams. The backpack is relatively thin as well with all the aforementioned gear in it. Overall the Thule 21L backpack is sturdy and "pocketful" backpack that I do not regret purchasing.
