Neat, but.... DO NOT MATCH HUE BULBS.

    • Written by from NEW YORK

I love my hue's. My entire house is hue, so i bought a few of these assuming they would be the same. They aren't; they don't match the hue light bulbs. Even greater an annoyance, they don't match each other. While I love the hue's, I returned the light strips.

The label is very misleading. They are not "strips" it is a single strip.

I was excited because the advertising and packaging says "strips". But in fact it is only a single, very expensive strip and each strip that you buy has a separate wall plug in. It seems to be deliberately misleading as well - when the box uses the plural, you expect more than one. You don't see a laptop box that says "laptops". So far, I can't get them to work with the base. Thus far, not really impressed. But it sure SOUNDED fantastic!

    Ok product. has some limitation

    • Written by from London

overall this product is okay. makes a nice show off at parties tho... i had one heck of a time getting it out of the package... it wouldnt come out without ripping it. had to take it back 3 times. its really hard to get them to go darker colours like the hue light bulbs. and if using scenes in the app it wont turn them on too.

    Needs Work

The strip works well with the Hue system, but there are a few basic improvements that would increase satisfaction for future customers. First, the strip doesn't do corners well, so I would somehow incorporate 'joints' of some kind into areas of the strip. Second, once you peel off the backing to reveal the tape for adherence, you cannot re-stick the product to any other surface. It loses its stickiness. What Philips should have done was used velcro instead of sticky tape. If they had put the male side of the velcro on the light strip, you could always purchase female velcro from any craft store. Then you'd be able to try the strip out in more than one location. I use the strip along the underside edge of my rectangular, solid wood coffee table so the lights reflect onto my white rug below. After a couple of days, the strip is starting to become loose and sag. Hopefully they'll fix this. I would definitely reconsider buying more in the future if this improvement was made.

    Just OK

I bought one of these hoping to use it for task lighting in my kitchen.

Pros: Super easy set up, "rubber" enclosed lights should be easy to clean and not affected by splashes or spills along its lighted length.

Cons: These are just not bright enough to act as task lighting for a kitchen counter. They also don't have great color fidelity compared to what you're trying to pick in the Hue app, but this might just be that the Hue app is fiddly. However I'm consistently surprised at the greenishness of the lights when I've picked a yellowish color in the app.
It is also mildly annoying that the preset scenes don't activate these lights. Just as others mention. But no one seems to mention that you can work around this by creating a picture based scene that duplicates the presets and does include the lightstrip.

My ultimate verdict is these are cool, and I'm keeping them, but I've found another use where they will work as under shelving accent lights. If I was trying to chop onions by their light, I would lose a finger sooner or later.
