    Fun for the Entire Family

    • Written by from Austin

We bought this and it has taken over our family room with laughter and fun. It is a throw back to the the ole AMX track car days on steroids. Watch out for minor problems when updating. When problems pop up call their support line and BAAM the problem is solved by a very smart, customer oriented, and helpful, customer service tech. They do not fall behind excuses & canned responses, they work with you to quickly solve the problem. The tracks are fun as well. Get all three and enjoy!! I would recommend buying everything on other ISP stores for it is always cheaper and you receive it faster. Apple could learn a thing or two about honest customer service and competitive prices. Fun for ages 10 and up unless you have a gamer youngster in the mix. Buy it if you are sitting on the fence it really is worth it. Have fun everyone!!!

Some of the one star reviews say the cars come off the track, race is coming etc. Race mode is now avalible and the track needs to be flat and cleaned to prevent cars coming off the track. I liked it and it is worth the $200

All I have to say is AWESOME. This design and concept is revolutionary to the future of gaming and well, most all industries. It is crazy to think of the technology that goes into this. And the craziest thing about it is that it works without a flaw. It's simply awesome!!!!!

These robotic cars are simply awesome! There is nothing on the market like Anki drive. The cars can think for themselves and you compete against them and friends. I just only imagine what this company can do in the future.

I was skeptical at first, but I LOVE IT!

    • Written by from Prior Lake

At first, when Borris got up on stage at the Keynote and talked about his first product Anki Drive. I honestly did not know what that meant, how was this gonna help, what was this gonna do? Would this be fun? Would this hype run out after we played a few times. Well, friends, this is a keeper.

I play this all the time. I take it to parties and get the whole house watching as I show it off. This is something everyone is interested in when explained well. You need to understand what you are getting for $200. The ability you have and the inspiration it could spark. Imagine if your kid plays Anki Drive and decides he or she wants to be a software engineer and make Apps or products like this someday. Now, you have inspired them, and what that can do for them, let alone the WORLD is huge. There are so many more things to this product, to this company besides a vinyl mat, and fancy robot cars. They care about the customer, and they care about making a difference in the world. Anki Drive is just the beginning. I cannot wait to see whats next.

As always, I only recommend buying from an authorized seller such as Apple or Anki themselves to ensure you get the real thing and not some knock off from someone other than Anki.

Fantastic blend of new technolgly with old school fun

    • Written by from Clarksville

The Anki DRIVE racing game opens up a whole new level of fun for the home. For too long the children (and adults too) have sat in front of a video game console, interacting only with the television screen.
Enter ANKI Drive. A road race game that goes to new heights with interaction and competitiveness. The game is superb from the minute you open the box. A roll out track that needs no wires to connect. 2 rechargeable race cars with their own cradles. Not only can you play against another friend but you can also set one car as an AI (artificial intelligence) that will make a worthy opponent.
Anki is not just a simple race around the track game. You control the speed and inner or outer lane position. The idea is to score points on the opposing car(s) to disable them. Flashing lights and sounds add to the fun. You can slow the other car down with your tractor beam. When the opposing car is hit it stops temporarily and the opponent scores a point. You set the game points (standard is 5). When one player wins the losing car spins around the center area.
The iPhone or iPad interface is great. Your winning points let you "buy" upgrades to your race car at the "garage"
Anyone can play this. The cars will not go off the track usually unless one car is hit by another. Then the system will announce "return car to track"
It is about as cool as you can get. Children and adults will enjoy this. game Not a huge learning curve like with a video controller with 2 joysticks and 6-8 ambiguous buttons.
Anki promises more upgrades to come this year. More racing challenges, and other ways to enjoy the game.
The cars do not have an overly long charge capability, but they do recharge quickly once docked. Lights go from red to green when charged. Also if you do not have an Apple product you are out of luck, No Android capability as of yet. This could be a negative for some but many people have an iPhone and an iPad for at least 2 person play. Maximum is 4 cars at once.
At $199 I think you get a lot of technology and fun for the money. A lot of though went into this design. The game is not for little children without an adult there to supervise.
This is a winner from start to finish.

If you EVER wanted slot cars... YOU WANT THIS!

    • Written by from Omaha

This game is off the charts good! Complex enough to have challenges and differences, but not so complex that you can't teach someone to drive and play in ten minutes. The look of the cars and track, the feel of the user interface and software. They all couple together to make this game amazing to play, and fun to watch. (BUT you WANT to be playing!) I have had this since the 1.0 software and the Anki team have since done two software upgrades. It has gotten better and better with more to come. They have four cars total, with a fifth one being promoted. This is great for family time, or the man cave which is what today's tech SHOULD cater to. Only thing I would caution is that since upgrades are tied to the cars, be prepared for people to want to have their OWN cars with their OWN upgrades. Bought the Starter Set and IMMEDIATELY got Rho and Katal to back it up! If you have kids, or groups of friends with iDevices, this is a way to have a LOT of fun at gatherings! BUY THIS AND YOU WILL ENJOY IT!

    Worth Every Penny!

I bought the Anki Drive starter kit along with one extra car this holiday...Totally worth the money.
The company is still in its early stages so it is exciting to think on what they will do next. It's very easy to get the support you need
from the company seeing as they have twitter and reply within the day you tweet them. Perfect for the entire family,
my three year old boys can beat the AI on easy :)

    Spectacular Fun with Endless Possibilities!

    • Written by from Pooler

So, here is the thing...this isn't just a racing game that you control with an Apple device. It is intelligent, emerging technology, and better than any racing game on your PS4 or otherwise! Not only can you constantly build up and upgrade your device. but the artificial intelligence that constantly challenges your abilities is second to none. Kudos to the folks at Anki for creating a game that can be upgraded and evolve over the OS system. What a fantastic product! I urge anyone to try this out...it will not disappoint!

    Excellent Game

Have had it for about a week now. Love it. Everything on my kit works great. I'd encourage anyone to get all 4 cars. It's a lot more fun with 4 racing at a time. Also, in response to people talking talking about battery life. They charge FAST! Also, my cars have an on/off switch. It's a little grey button underneath just behind the rear axle. Happy racing!

This game is amazing; provided you follow instructions!

    • Written by from Downingtown

After reading a few of the reviews here I would have thought this game was riddled with design errors and early adopter bugs. Although nothing is perfect I can say with absolute certainty that anki drive is an incredible piece of technology as well as a great game for all ages. It's addicting, fun, and easy to play; perfect for anyone that has kids or a part of them that never grew up.

There is just one catch though, you have to read (and follow) the directions. What I have found is as long as you clean the tire of your cars ( with the provided tire cleaner) and keep the mat clean, this game works exactly as advertised. The cars race around and around and rarely stray off course. I myself have 3 cars and even with heavy use (and tons of collisions) my cars race around and around flawlessly. It's when you forget to clean the mat and/or the cars tires that things start to get out of control (literally).

I know this is a toy, but like anything new, expensive, and cutting edge it requires the proper care to work perfectly.

I haven't noticed any software bugs but then I started playing with the 2.0 software, and the latest update has vastly improved the already great game play. This game has really impressed my wife and I and we would recommend it to any one.

One last note, this game does require a large area for the game mat to be placed so just be prepared section off a large area of the floor or the dinning room table. It is easy to store though so even if you don't have a permanent area to place it you still should be able to set it up and use it from time to time.

Since my son got his Anki Drive system on Christmas, he's been playing daily racking-up the points to customize his cars. We now have three cars, because the AI system is awesome enough so that both my son and I like to take on the AI system together. See if we can beat it. It's loads of fun and reminds me of my old groove racetracks of old... Minus the groove, and the clicker, and the artificial intelligence and the machine guns... LOL! Thank you Anki Drive!

WOW! Our kids from age 6 to 26 LOVE this game. It is so easy to learn. I fell in love with it after watching the Apple Keynote presentation this summer.

Today we put it up on the kitchen table. Lots less dog hair collecting on the wheels now.

We are ready for more cars and move fun!!!

Excellent with a lot of potential

    • Written by from Dallas

I already had a positive customer support experience with Anki so I can check off that box. The game was easy to set up. Worked perfectly the first time. The racing mat attracts dust/hair or anything else in the air. I found myself paranoid and trying to wipe the mat a good bit. The game is very fun indeed. Can't way to add another car. The cars do spin out quite a bit and if they run off the track you need to clean the wheels before putting them back on. That is distracting and is almost like a timeout and takes out some of the excitement momentarily. All in all a very fun game with improvements to be made and potential neat ideas for future use. Packaging was excellent but too much. They could save themselves money and still be Apple-esq. I would highly recommend this for adults or kids. Great innovative product.

Fantastic family fun! Very well executed!!

Got this for my 5 year old for christmas. He loves race cars and since the time I showed him Anki on the web, he craved for it dearly and even wrote a letter to Santa requesting it — I had no choice but to go in for the splurge, with a lot of reservation about the cost firstly and also about the age appropriateness.

The kit comes in a sturdy box that you will not throw away, as it serves as an optimum storage case for the cars and mat when not in play. The cars charge quickly (~8 min) on their respective cool looking charging pods (yes, no batteries!). When you are ready, just roll the mat out and launch the Anki drive app and you are ready to go! It is quite magical that there is no messing around with wifi set ups or bluetooth pairing — everything just works!

And my 5 yr old loves the experience, and has figured out a lot of things himself, like keeping tabs on how many more upgrade points he might need to get his next 'weapon' and such. As for the game play, the cars put on quite a show! It is cool to watch or jump in an play.

Currently the game play only supports a 'battle' mode with the AI or human opponent. Can't wait for the 'race' mode to be released, getting which should be as easy as any other app update. Even as such, it provides a frustration free and awesome experience and therefore, highly recommended!

I bought this for my 13 year old for Christmas and we all ended up playing with it. I've never seen him so engaged. We were laughing that we had never seen him clean anything before (voluntarily) but he carefully dusted down the track after each session. And his friends loved it too. They forgot all about xbox and playstation. It's brilliant that you can earn points to improve the cars, and play against a car driven by 'artificial intelligence.' He's already trying to figure out how you get access to the add on car that can only be purchased by achieving a certain level. It's like it was created by the mind of a 13 year old gamer on steroids. Fantastic toy for kids and adults!

I purchased the Anki Drive for my husband, age 50, for Christmas. It's unbelievable and exceeds all expectations.
With all due respect for the reviewer that said Anki was "boring" after a few minutes, I would guess this reviewer was someone watching and not participating This is in no way boring! The cars move so fast and have so many weapons on them, participants have no time to get bored. i do not play or enjoy video games or racing (even Nascar bores me) but Anki Drive is addictive! On the "easy" settings, the cars will allow you to win races. That's kind of fun and you earn points that you then redeem to "purchase" car upgrades (no additional money required for this). Each car seems to have different upgrade potentials making each car very unique. (My first upgrade made "my" car super fast and my husband's more like an armored vehicle so it's hard to take out) We can race/battle against each other or against the car itself. My husband immediately purchased an additional car to expand the fun!
On 'moderate" settings, the cars are out to get you and it's amazing! I read the cars scan the track 500 times per second. I can't even imagine getting to the advanced setting! Having said that, in the 'easy' mode, any small child or senior citizen can play. If they can hold an iphone/ipad, they are playing. The cars run the race on their own so even a 2 year old could "participate" in the race. AWESOME FUN! I highly recommend getting one!
