    Disappointed: Not As Advertised...

    • Written by from Exton

I bought the Mophie Juice Pack Air - iPhone 5s/5. According to the packaging, it's supposed to charge the phone back up to 100% (if you turn the charger on when the battery hits the 20% "red zone"). It has never charged it back up to 100%. Under warranty, I mailed it back the 1st time, hoping it was maybe just a glitch. The new one did the same thing. I asked them about the charging issue, and they said that it depends on how much you use the phone while charging. Basically, don't touch it until it's done charging. I tried that, and it only went up to about 80%. I am disappointed because for $100, it should do what it's advertised to do. It's great to have the back-up battery, but to get the full 100% charge, you might have to buy the one for 120% (even more expensive at $119.95). Warranty is only 1 year.

Garbage... why can't these cases use Lightning?

    • Written by from Seattle

It's so annoying that I have to carry a Micro USB as well as a Lightning cable around now. Why can't they use a lightning cable like the actual phone does? I hate having to look at the port and orient the cable properly... they took a problem that the iPhone fixed and then screwed it up again.

The case itself has a pretty cheap feel to it as well, very soft and painted plastic... it scrapes and looks really ugly.

The battery works okay. But that's about it.

    Mophie = Mullet

unable to sync iPhone 5 with Mophie case In tact.
you must remove bottom portion of case to sync.
To do this simply remove bottom portion of 1985 technology mophie case, plug in iPhone 5 chord, Sync your Iphone5, etc...... how LAME!!! welcome to 1985 mophie, and for only $100.00, hey Mophie watch bathtub time machine and learn from the movie, technology should get better with time make it compatible with the actual device to utilize the chord provided by manufacturer, save money that way, apple bettered their device chord so you don't have to mess with this "side up" to plug in Lame.....
You get 1/2" star for really thinking this through,
    Mopihie = Mullet.

Does what you expect it to do!!

    • Written by from Ypsilanti

All the Nitpicking is irrelevant to the fact that the case does In fact extend your battery way past normal use. I am a heavy user, and need a charge beyond the tiny 1400 Mah battery stuck in these paper thin devices. The case is surprising light too! Function way over form, for the sake of extended battery life.

    Waste of money

    • Written by from Indianapolis

I purchased my juice pack on a Sunday, by Tuesday it wouldn't charge. It's a waste of money. I wouldn't tell anyone to buy it because it's a complete waste of money. And when I went to technical support they never emailed me back.

I had the Mophie Juice for the iPhone 4S and it worked pretty well. This new one for the iPhone 5 is a pice of junk. It heated up yesterday at work and now refuses to hold a charge. I only had it for about 3 months. If I could give zero stars I would.

    Decent Product

    • Written by from Harrisburg

So, no.... It does not charge up to 100% like Mophie advertises. With that said, it does give an extra 85% charge (for me) on my 5S. To me, that's worth it. I only have to charge my phone at night now while I sleep rather than bringing a charger with me everywhere.

The size of it is a little big, but it's truly not too bad for someone with larger hands. It actually gives the iPhone some much wanted heft. It also has a lay-on-table design which when placed on the phone's face, prevents the screen from touching the surface of the table.

I like everything about this case, but because of the fact that it does not charge up to 100% as advertised, 4 stars.

    + Case is sturdy

    - Uses mini-usb connector??
    - Only gives me between 20-25% of a charge when NOT IN USE. Will pursue their money back guarantee.

    Major Problem with Mophie

    • Written by from San Francisco

Used mophie once, and immediately caused my iPhone 5 not to be able to charge without it. I tried plugging my phone into my MacBook Pro, into the wall, tried using different cables etc. The only way to charge it was with the mophie. I called apple support, they ran a quick test and determined that my battery was failing and that I had a hardware issue. My friend had used the mophie and immediately had the same problem. I now have to go into apple for hardware repair.

I don’t think Apple should be selling/promoting a product that harms the phones. Totally disappointed.

Who wants to carry another cable to charge? Why didn't they build it with a thunderbolt socket? It is just ridiculous. Also, the headphone jack needs an extension (which comes with the product) once you put the Juice pack. Absolutely inconvenient. We have to carry that extension, almost like a stylus!

I made the mistake of buying this junk today. I have to return it.

removal of pack from phone body

    • Written by from Seattle

While i have no problem with the function of my Mophie juice pack in that it serves the purpose and gives me adequate standby supply so as to enable me to charge the phone just once every night rather than in the middle of the day as was frequently the case before.
I have however, a problem with been able to remove the juice pack from the main body of the phone! Nowhere in the user manual is it mentioned how, so i feel like an absolute idiot that i cant do it and I need to so as to replace the SIM in the phone!!
Can anyone tell me how it can be easily pried open without causing any damage to the body of the iPhone? I would greatly appreciate some concrete and sensible advice in this regard

    Died after 3 months

    • Written by from HONOLULU

I purchased my Mophie back in September, it was good while it lasted, then a couple weeks ago I noticed the battery life started dying faster. Now Its completely dead and won't take a charge. Now all I have is a $100 iPhone case. Take your chance I guess if you have money to waste.

Stopped working after two months of usage

    • Written by from Bethesda

We live abroad and therefore purchased this item when we were in the US on holiday. The product stopped working after only two months worth of usage. I have contacted customer service but have yet to hear on the response for next steps. Save the $100 … not worth the product at all.

    iPhone 5s

    • Written by from Flagstaff

I just recently got the iPhone 5s and I absolutely love this product. I use my phone a ton and this a must have. I had a juice pack air, and a juice pack plus for my iPhone 4 and I think that this is more closely relevant to the juice pack plus for the iPhone 4. I have not have any of the issues as some of the other people have discussed, it charges my phone back up to about 90% from a sea battery so that is awesome. This is a must use product if you use your phone a lot. Also, the complaint about the case using a micro USB, well these cables are cheaper than the ones that apple makes so if you have to replace it that helps.

    mophie for I Phone 5

    • Written by from lawrenceville

A complete wage of money. Charging is not 100% if its 50% it is a lot. Ruins the feel of the I Phone and in my case almost burned out the phone. One day a felt a large amount go heat coming from the unit transferring on my shirt. Immediately took off unit and waited a few days. Tried again and found same results. Into the trash it went never to be purchased again......

    Good idea, bad design

    • Written by from Wayne

Pros- Makes your phone battery last seemingly forever
Durable case to also protect the phone

Cons- doesn't have a lightning connector on the bottom so you need a second cord to charge and need to take the case off to sync photos.
MAJOR complaint is that the headphone jack is virtually inaccessible. Comes with a short adapter but in 2 months the adapter has broken twice.

I was surprised to find out that this product has been around for a few years because the issues are what you would expect from a first generation version, not a third or fourth.

I have a 5s and I bought the Mophie Air with "compatible with iPhone 5s" on the box...
    1) the claim of "up to 100% battery" is not even in the ballpark. It's more like 50% after 2 weeks use. What is the purpose of adding substantial bulk to the beautifully designed iPhone when you're not getting close to the advertised battery life?
    2) If you have smaller hands this makes the 5s ergonomically terrible. I can't use the "one hand" only user interface.
    3) The connector is NOT via lightning. This is absurd, I can't even charge it in my car with the case on.
    1) Phone fees secure but with this much bulk I would hope so.

In summary, I don't see the purpose of owning an iPhone and adding this much bulk to it. It just defeats the purpose especially when you're not getting close to the advertised battery life. Add to it the inconveniences and this is a return for me.

    Just okay

    • Written by from PAPILLION

I had hoped it would work beter.
    -Looks great
-Battery life is suspect. It runs down quick. I do not beleive it "doubles" battery life.
-Having to use the mini-USB coord is a pain.
    -Doubles the size of Iphone.

The apple lighting connecter is great, having to convert the car, computer and house to charge the Juice Pack Air with mini-USB is a throwback.

    Again....just okay.
