    Perfect slim backpack

    • Written by from Sarasota

Have been looking for a new bag for a while. After reading reviews I chose to try this one and have loved it. The grid system is neat but I simply love the size of the bag. No more large book bag for me. This one is perfect for carrying my 15" macbook, ipad, kindle and some papers...plus everything that fits in the front pocket or grid system.

After looking up several reviews and from my own experience, these backpacks rip and tear along the straps within weeks. I am returning mine today.

VERY BAD quality. What a disappointment!!

    • Written by from Davis

I bought this on October last year. I wanted to invest money in a good quality product to protect my also expensive Macbook Pro. The zippers started having troubles after the first month of use. A month ago, one of them simply would not work anymore at all, causing me to lose my wallet, since one of the pockets opened just like that. Don't buy it! Invest in good quality elsewhere. I wish I could return or exchange it now.

I'm one of those people who rarely write reviews, even though I rely on reviews constantly. This bag deserves every good review it can get! I've had my bag about two months now, using it on weekdays to and from the office. This is by far the best bag I've ever used for my laptop (13" MBP). I was previously using a neoprene sleeve with handles and two pockets. I have a nasty habit of loading my bags down with nonsense, so once I saw the grid system I knew it would stop me from throwing random things in the bag. I don't bring my iPad to work, but I see it has that nice spot to fit in. I keep my charger (with extended length) and day planner in the pouch in the bigger portion of the bag, and a small spiral notebook and a few pens in the front. The grid is filled with two external harddrives, flash drives, usb cables and my mouse. I am constantly impressed at the size and weight distribution. I've had some 8.5x11 notebooks in here too, back with the laptop and it hasn't added to the size very much at all. The bottom has proven itself to be waterproof/resistant on more than one occasion, same with the zippers. Nothing has shown any signs of breaking, which is a good thing. The only thing that did was the small Cocoon logo that is on one of the straps. It is anchored by two points, by the first and last O, so the C broke off at some point. Everything else is still beautiful though! No signs of wear, no tarnishing on the metal accents and zippers. I have been recommending this to anyone who will listen, and will be buying some as gifts.

The idea was awesome however lousy stitching have rendered it useless. I went through 2 backpacks and now am giving up on this product.

    Best slim backpack

    • Written by from New York

I wanted something simple, SMALL, and professional enough to bring to an office. The GRID-IT system is pretty cool, works very well. The only thing I did not like was the inside, it had a very soft material. It felt nice, but it made it hard to put papers and books inside. I just ripped it out, but that was my preference. I LOVE this backpack. Oh, and the zipper is kinda cool too, has some water resistant technology. This was built to be a SLIM backpack; given that goal, this is fantastic.

Was expecting bigger--looks like a purse on me!

    • Written by from Pittsfield

That's really my only complaint. I'm a 225lb man and when I strap this backpack on, it looks a little too small--SILLY small! My girlfriend laughed at me when she saw me try it on!! Lol, but I need it for work and knew when I bought this that it wouldn't replace my backpack, and it's actually a good thing that this bag is smaller than my normal backpack because it will fit in there easily with my sketchpad, lunch, etc. All that aside, this bag feels really well made, the zippers seems sturdy and are quite obviously waterproof when you see the labia-like folds (lol sorry for that comparison) that cover the zipper. The felt-ish liner inside and the cushioning for devices feels great and I'm confident that I made a good choice. I need to bring so many little accessories and cables and drives and styluses and blah blah blah with me, and instead of shoving them in my old Jansport, they ALL fit neatly in the front pocket gird. I love it! Too small for me to wear at my size, but TOTALLY does the job. I'm actually surprised somebody complained that this bag was "WAY TOO BIG". You're kidding, right?

Purchased this backpack a few weeks ago and had to return it. Had it as a commuter with my 15 inch macbook pro. The grid is extremely useful to hold your items. The bag gets extremely heavy and bothersome on your back because everything is confined to one area. The grid part again is useful, but you always have to unzip that pocket entirely to get something thats on the bottom. Cool bag if your not going far and dont need to bring to much with you. If you are an audio engineer like myself or a video person this may not be the bag for you. I like to have one bag for all of my items to consolidate things. Check it out in the store before you purchase.

    really big and heavy!

    • Written by from Salt lake City

The 'SLIM' backpack is entirely a misnomer. This sucker is way way too big. What is the point in slimming down the mac books and then getting something twice its weight to carry it. Me no likey. I just bought the STM linear bag and its a million times better, lighter, and far more stylish.

    This bag is Awesome!!!

I got this backpack for Christmas and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! Its very well made, and the Built-in GRID-IT system is perfect! I put all of my stuff in the GRID-IT system and I shook the bag like crazy with the flap open but my stuff didn't move! It fits my Mac book Pro perfectly, I can still fit my iPad, a book (about an inch thick) and some documents in a manila folder! Just a great bag! would recommend to anyone looking for a good backpack to keep their electronics organized and safe!

I just purchased this and once I transferred all of my current backpack belongings over to this one, I quickly realized it would be a wonder. I absolutely love how slim it remains! I will be going out of town in a few weeks and I am already excited about my plane experience with a backpack this slim!

    Best backpack for a techy!!

    • Written by from Creston

This backpack is perfect for a techy who has a lot of little tech stuff that needs to be at your side. Grid-it is AWESOME!! And this backpack is very Slim and compact. Because it's so thin, large books don't fit. I would TOTALLY recommend this backpack. Cocoon is a awesome company with great customer service!!

The perfect case for a 15" MBPr & iPad Air

    • Written by from Nashville

This backpack is absolutely phenomenal. Lappy and tablet fit very nicely in their compartment and the accessory grid space is perfect for cables, external drive, and whatnot that becomes giant rats nests in other bags. The ONLY concern I have found: one of the product photos suggest placing the power block in a pocket in the laptop compartment. I felt that would exert pressure on the lappy and tablet. But they include a nice velcro strap that integrates into the grid on the other side. I use that to wrap up the power block and it doesn't push on the hardware at all. As the title suggests, I have recently upgraded all my gear. Lots of fun, new, shiny things but this backpack may be my favorite part. If I could give it six stars, I would.

    Perfect bag for tech professionals

    • Written by from Palo Alto

This is a really cool backpack. It's very comfortable, very slim and quite stylish. (reminds me of an older TUMI bag I have which is 3x the price). The best part is the integrated grid-it in the entire front pocket. I've bought 3 different sized Grid-Its before to use in my other bags but the grid inside this backpack is just so much better designed because is it not only very large but the layout of the rubber bands make it very easy to organize both big and small items. The only downside is there isn't very much room to carry books and other non-tech gadgets.

Slim, efficient, perfect size, and superbly designed

    • Written by from New York

I have been looking for a pack that would hold my 15" Macbook Pro and iPad for a long time. There are of course many packs, messenger bags, and brief cases that can do this. However, my criteria are as follows:
    1. it should be a pack because this presents the least strain for carrying it.
    2. it must be able to fit and organize the accessories for the two devices
    3. it should be small so that one is not tempted to put too much other stuff
    4. it should be tough to withstands the rigors of traveling around the world.
    5. it should look good enough so that one doesn't look like one is going camping

The cocoon fit all these criteria. It is a pack. It has a flat compartment where you can organize and fit all your accessories in a way that you can see and get to everything quickly. It is very compact, about 4 inches thick when zipped. It is quite tough. Finally, it looks good enough to go into a boardroom or a lecture hall, without straps and other paraphernalia that afflict mountain climbing packs. It fits under all airplane seats with room to spare for a second small bag.
