    Terrible long term durability

    • Written by from SAN FRANCISCO

I have purchased 3 Zepplin's only to have EVERY single one of them fail. Further, they require proof of purchase for any type of service - even if I have sent the device in before (and they have the records on file).

Overall, the audio quality is superb - no argument there. However, B&W's firmware leaves little to be desired. Look at the reviews on Amazon (30% have had problems). The products do not have a decent life expectancy. These devices are heavy and expensive to ship back to the factory.

After numerous calls and frustration just trying to get a very expensive device repaired, I have not other choice than to give this company a poor rating in product quality and customer service.

    AirPlay Super, sound, hmm

    • Written by from Bielefeld

In contrast to many other frustrated buyers I didn't have ANY problems in setting up the Zeppelin Air and connecting it to my wireless network. I guess I was somehow lucky in that respect. Maybe it helps to choose a "free" frequency for ones WLAN in advance. Setting the Zeppeling up with the App of B&W took 3 minutes and it worked flawlessly ever since.
My concern is with the sound: despite of all the ravishing critics it IS muffled, both when using it via AirPlay and as a soundbar for the TV: with my normal TV- speakers I can for instance hear in a film scene birds twitter and crickets chirr whereas there is absolute silence when listening to the same scene with the Zeppelin Air. Even an exchange by the very helpful German customer service of B&W didn't improve matters. The heights and mids seem thin and as if a blanket covered the music, which saddens me especially because I mainly listen to classic, where you just have to have details and some brilliance in sound in order to be able to enjoy the music! So I'm somehow quite disappointed with the sound on one hand but can't help loving my Zeppelin Air on the other hand, because it is wonderful in every-day use as an AirPlay device that can be controlled from my whole apartment and fills all 70 square meters with ease (and looks stunning, too)!

    Fantastic speaker

    • Written by from Calgary

I thought this piece of loudspeaker was a bit expensive, but when i got home and used only a few minutes to set it up, i was amazed by the sound.
It was worth all the money, and i also can take this with me when i move back to europe, i just have to change the wall plug and play my music again since it is dual voltage on this B&W.

It Jams and Rocks the House

    • Written by from Plano

I'm far from a tech expert, but, I enjoy hi quality audio. After the in store demo versus several other dock speakers hands down the Zep Air is far and away the best sounding. At all sound levels - crisp, clean and thumpin'. Hint, if you're a bass lover place the unit near a corner/wall for even more impact. The setup is for dummies like me. Download the Control App, 3 or 4 clicks later you're streaming or docking. I'm sending music from my MacBook Pro thru ITunes, my iPhone thru AirPlay while I'm in the kitchen and using my iPod nano on the dock. Neighbors came knocking after 5 mins…..If you want hi quality tech ready music from your devices this is what you're looking for….

Performance Speaks Louder than Cost...and setup

    • Written by from Downers Grove

I picked up the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air a little over three months ago, and have remained impressed by this speaker every day since. If you're seriously considering this product, then you've read around the Internet that it is very difficult to set up. While this may be the case, a slight learning curve gives way to a pristine audio experience. The midrange is clear, and confident bass delivers only satisfaction. The Zeppelin is an impressive fixture to any room, and it's worth noting the 'classy' black matte cloth cover and elegant form on the whole. As for the AirPlay, there are clearly some kinks that need to be worked out here; every so often the sound will momentarily crackle or completely cut out, however, this may be a problem common to all AirPlay devices. I remain disappointed that the included remote control is of seemingly low quality plastic (B&W would be better off not bothering with the remote at all), but with AirPlay remotes are obsolete to some degree, anyway. At around $600, the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air is not a steal, but fine audio and an overall luxurious experience deliver what you expect for the price tag.

    Amazing sound perfect reproduction

    • Written by from Hollywood

This is how music is meant to be listened to. There is just no comparison to headphones or built in speakers when listening to a song it should fill the room and have perfect reproduction like what is experienced with the Zeppelin; have had some issues with airplay starting up the speaker but the sound is so good it doesn't bother me.

Sounds as good as it looks

    • Written by from London

Just a beautiful product. Nothing else looks or sounds like Bowers & Wilkins speakers. Completely fills a room with warm detailed sound, I wouldn't play music on anything else now.

Not as robust as they make it out to be

    • Written by from Madrid

I thought that this make would have been of better quality, well, you live and learn!
Looks and sound are great (when it is working). A little on the pricey side when you take into account that the product is not that good a quality. The ipod dock has broken several times on mine and I hardly move it. I use an old ipod I have which is permanently fixed to the device and it still breaks.
When I first bought the product there were not as many other options out there for quality sound systems... now there are. So I´ll be looking into those other products as an alternative to this one.
