    Uninstalled it and reinstalled 2008 version

    Buying this was a waste of money and time... I already had the 2008 version of Microsoft Office for Mac, which was much better by the way. The 2008 version included Entourage (email), and this 2011 version gives the impression it includes Outlook, but it's only the icon, and when you click it prompts you to purchase it separately. Microsoft Word is temperamental and doesn't always give you time to save before crashing. I didn't use PowerPoint or Excel, so I can't comment on those. By the way, why aren't we allowed to purchase Microsoft Word by itself? It would be great to have that option since some of us don't need the other applications... Do yourself a favor and buy iWorks or the 2008 version of Microsoft Office.

    Horrible product

    Unfortunately I can't give this product zero stars. If I could I would. Word always crashes on my Mac, not sometimes, or every once in awhile.....always.
    Sage advice: hit the save button frequently or you will lose hours of work. Since I need to edit a lot I have gone back to a cheap PC.

    Microsoft Office 2011 remains buggy

    For a year and a half I have suffered continual problems with MS Word crashing, and Word's Find function is particularly buggy - doesn't find, or can't blocks typing in the search box entirely, all resulting in vastly decreased productivity and data loss. I'm surprised that such basic functions as "search" haven't been fixed two years after release (I've been updating regularly) - its bugginess is well-documented even in mainstream publications, not to mention the informal Web. MS Word 2011 is not recommended, and not to be recommended!! Most people depend on MS Word as alternatives are so few and usage is so broad, but if you can avoid it (e.g. by using Open Office), do, at least to skip this 2011 version.

    A nightmare

    I upgraded from Office 2008 (which in the end ran rather stable on my MacBook Pro) and this was definitely a mistake! The new Word just always crashes! I already lost hours of work. Especially when you copy and past passages within the document the program tends to freeze. Although I set auto-save to 5 minutes, the program always restores a version which usually dates back at least 30-60 minutes. Grrrr.

    Disappointed

    As a professional translator, I rely in MS Word more than anything else. But it continually crashes, several times a day. I close all the applications and documents I'm not using, but it doesn't help. It's just exasperating, especially when delivery is urgent. The search box is much less efficient than the now called "search advanced", which was the regular one before and works well, only you need a few steps more now than then. Too bad, because otherwise, Word is such a pleasure to use.

    BTW, outside MS Word, the search box for "this Mac" is horrible because it gives you approximations, suggesting hundreds of documents that have maybe only one word from the phrase you need to find. It's very inefficient and a great waste of time.

    Crashes often

    I give this product 3 stars because in general I love it, but it crashes too often. I have lost some of my work because I didn't save frequently enough. Microsoft word has all the great features you'd expect and I love the powerpoint! You can even make flow charts in powerpoint without the need for expensive Visio. I just wish they can figure out a way to fix the crashing issue. Save your work frequently. And by frequently, I mean, every sentence or two. I'm new to excel and love it. So far, I have not had crashing issues with Excel.

    Very Pleased for Both High School and College

    I love iWork, but I simply needed office. It has never crashed on me once in my nearly 2 years of use. They seem lightweight, productive, and most of all, compatible.

    I have written my resume, my research papers, and used Excel for my Accounting work.

    iWork gets the job done, but there are always spacing issues when you convert from .pages to .doc. Overall, very pleased.

    Amazing.

    I am a college student. I am always doing research papers and presentation, so the Student Edition is vital. I use it everyday, without any crashes. Many choices to manipulate the paper and coming from windows words it was a easy transition.

    Works Just Fine

    I originally bought this for my iMac, but ended up installing it on my macbook, and then later on my macbook pro when I upgraded to that, and it has worked just fine on all 3 computers. I took Chinese in college and word had no problem with the Chinese characters at all. There's not much else to say - word, powerpoint and excel all are basically the same as they always have been with just a few new tweaks and improvements. I'd definitely recommend to anyone.

    Microsoft Office for Mac Home and Student 2011

    The software is similar to Office for Windows except it does not support duplex printing on the HP Office jet Pro 8600. This is disappointing since even the e-print functions on the iPhone 5 and the iPad Retina offer duplex printing as an option. Pages also offers the duplex printing option.

    Typical MS nonsense

    Software works as it's supposed to but.....

    The installation itself is a travesty of misinformation, confusion, and duplication. Could have been done in minutes if not but for the stupid/inaccurate instructions. And when completed, I had icons, aps, and folders inserted in four different locations for no apparent reason. Really annoying. Want help? You'll be talking to India and some partially-understandable semi-English speaker diddling with a response-tree over a bad connection.

    Typical Microsoft. I needed MSWord so had to get this. However, I was reminded anew why I left PC/Windows/Microsoft behind years ago. Very annoying.

    Too Bad!

    Quality lowers as it updated. Figure attachment on Word worsens than previous version. PPT also worsen in its functions.
    I hope Macwrite and MacDraw revive.

    AMAZING!

    This product is an amazing. Before buying it, I read many reviews about it crashing and this of that nature. It hasn't crashed once since I got it and I use it daily for college. It has really helpful note-taking feature that would be perfect for all students. I would just get Microsoft Office for all the people out there debating. Most professors prefer it, and it is an overall amazing word-processing program.

    Very Similar to Windows Office

    Software works really well on my Macbook Pro w/ Retina. Never have had issues with Office on this machine. Only thing that it lacks is not having OneNote which was a very helpful/organized note taker software for Windows.

    DOES NOT INCLUDE OUTLOOK

    WARNING!!
    This is NOT a complete version. It does NOT include Outlook so you are stuck with Apple Mail (no comment). Having used Outlook on my machine at work, and since my version of Entourage is no longer supported, I was looking forward to updating my email program. VERY DISSAPOINTED that I did not get a full version of Works. I suppose for the price difference it is ok, but quite deceptive on Microsoft's part. (But then, what did you expect>) Did not give it 5 stars because of this. Otherwise, works fine.

    After skipping the 2008 version, I was overdue. Loving this solid version!

    Word 2004 used to always crash at the end of a spell check for me. I had to remember to end the spell check before it got to the last item in the document. Not so with Word 2011. I have had no problems with any apps in the Office 2011 Suite. Honestly, though, for the amount that I use it, I really should just force myself to use iWork. Pages is a more elegant and simple app for my uses. Office is more than most people need, it just sells out of sheer momentum.

    Office for Mac is very naughty - trouble some. On top of that Office 365 for Mac has many issues. It asks you to verify again and again. Probably it is time to throw away Microsoft Office. We need some thing better.

    All Microsoft garbage I tried to escape from with Mac

    Simple, old, glitchy. Just as Microsoft office has always been. You are much better off paying $60 for Numbers, Keynote, and Pages which are apps right from the app store compared to $130 for this. Most of the things Microsoft seems to think we find "handy" are more of a nuisance. For example: I bought a 15' MacBook Pro with retina display for school, and decided it would be a good idea to have Excel, Powerpoint and Word for projects, notes etc. What I didn't want was the 9 other applications you get with it which is not an exaggeration. If these programs are needed to function they should be built in. I have no use for Messenger, Reminders, Query, Silverlight or anything other than the three I payed for. And having a pop-up compatibility test recommendation every time you want to save something is pathetic. Just skip it. I feel sick knowing I wasted $70 on this. I maintain the only upside is the compatibility with my school's ancient computers, which can be useful at times.
