Does not work with many cases

Contrary to what is stated in the blurb, this dock will not accept Speck or SwitchEasy cases. This is particularly irritating because not only are these common brands, but it would have been easy to design the flange with a removable spacer that allowed the dock to accommodate the extra thickness of a case. I gave the dock two stars because it seems to be otherwise well built.

    Amazing Dock

I've had my dock for 2 months now, and could not be happier. My partner picked one up for himself after I told him how great it is. I'll be picking another one up for my office, since it's so slim, sleek, and simple. Highly recommend!

Not compatible with Speck cases (or probably any other case)

The ad states "Compatible with most cases." Not true. There is a large flange just below the lightning connector that prevents all the cases I have seen from connecting. Certainly it was not compatible with my Speck case. This item is acceptable if you don't have a case on your iPhone but avoid it if you have the done sensible thing and put your iPhone in a case.

    Excellent Dock

After purchasing several other docks over the last few months, and returning them all, I bought this Belkin dock, which is superb. The iPhone 5 docks easily; the dock is attractive; and a lightening connection and cord are built-in. I bought a second dock as well.

Just to say, however, the dock may not work with your particular iPhone case: I have several Speck cases that I rotate, and the phone docks only when using the CandyShell Flip, in which case it docks perfectly.

    Eh....

Let me start out by talking about the pros of this case: it is well-built and compliments my Macbook Pro nicely. But there are a few things that are missing.

The dock is very lightweight, so you'll have to hold the dock while unplugging. I duct taped the dock to my desk so I could unplug with one hand.

Also, there is a very good chance your case will not fit with this dock; mine didn't. Any case that covers the bottom of the phone (and I mean any plastic whatsoever on the bottom of the case--even a little bit) the case will not go on. I have a Belkin View case for my iPhone 5 and it did not fit because the case covered the bottom (it had openings for the headphone jack/mic, lightning port, and speaker). I cut the bottom of the case and made the 3 openings into one large one and now the phone docks normally. This case is made for people who like no cases or people with snap-on cases. Normal and protective case people, steer clear.

It does what is advertised though, and it is one of the best docks out there.

Does what it's suppose to do, easy to set up, and it is compact. only problem is that it doesn't work with my case.

    No Good

It charges ok but it's very light and flimsy. There is no weight to it at all, so you have to use both hands to take your phone off the dock. Also, the connector feels very loose and my phone wobbles back and forth and side to side. It just doesn't feel solid, but I'm stuck with this awful thing because Apple won't make a dock for iPhone 5. I wish I could find a dock that didn't feel so cheap and junky as this one. I do not expect it to last very long. The quality just isn't there.

Very good dock. The original Apple dock has never been an option for me, since I don't want to take my case off to dock every time. But with this dock and my incase snap-case the phone docks easily. The new lightning adapter is smaller, so it's harder to find in the morning/night when I'm plugging my phone in, so the dock takes care of that problem. The dock itself is made from high quality materials, and doesn't feel cheap or structurally unsound. The only downside to it is that it's $40... which is still less than Apples. If it were cheaper I would have ordered another for the office.

The best iPhone 5 dock i've seen, but it could be so much better

    • Written by from Croydon

The look and feel of the dock is great, it's at a great angle, and is designed to fit most cases. You could probably even stick an ipad mini on it.

The only bug-bears that i have, is that it's a fused plug!? If the USB connection dies on me (Which it eventually will) I'll have to replace the entire thing, not just the cable. The lightning connection is also quite stiff, so you have to hold the dock with one hand, and the phone with the other to get it off the dock.

    Overall a very good product.

I ordered 2 of these docks. One of the best docks I've see for the iPhone 5. The lightning connector is actually hinged making easier to accomodate different thicknesses of cases.

Belkin Case + Belkin Dock = Doesn't Fit

I guess it would have been too much to ask your case designers to maybe share what they were working on with your dock designers. My Belkin case is the slim Grip Candy High Gloss Silicone Cover(Black/Smoke) and it must be removed to use this dock.

iPhone isn't connected unless wedged forward.

Not sure if I got a defective one, but it doesn't register a connection unless my iPhone has something wedged behind it. When it is flush forward in the dock, it then connects and charges. Luckily my case doubles as a wedge, so I don't have to return it...I'm just not very impressed with lack of design. A possible solution would've been to have a plastic molding or insert so that the phone would always be in the correct position.

Won't Plug in with a Case

    • Written by from Kincardine

This works fine but I have a very skinny cheap case for the phone to dodge the scuffs and it won't even plug in (like the 30 pin to lightning adapter. Definitely won't work if you have a thick protective case. Works as advertised once the case is removed. Looks good and nice to sit up the phone at my desk.

A very well designed dock. It fits my iPhone with a snap case without a problem. It is nice and stable. I am also going to use it with a iPad mini also with a snap case. It is stable enough for the mini. It definitely will not tip over on its own.

    Fantastic Product!

    This dock is absolutely fantastic!

It is well made, very sturdy and stylish. The cable is built in, so you don't have to worry about using your own lightning cable. In addition, it is an additional foot longer than the standard USB cable. Unlike other reviewers statements, you do not need to worry about the lightning cable getting lose when unplugging your phone, I believe that is the Belkin Charge+Sync Audio Dock.

I think the biggest plus is you don't have to take off your iPhone case if you have a basic slider or snap case. Fits perfectly, and its not too snug either so you don't have to worry about damaging the case, phone or the dock. I actually prefer this dock over the Apple iPhone 4/4S dock.

I highly recommend this dock to anyone that needs or even wants a dock!

The revamped Belkin Charge & Sync Dock is the perfect dock for the iPhone 5 and works great even with an incase slider case on the phone. The built in lightning connector solves the problem of the first generation Belkin dock. Definitely 5 stars.

Finally!! A Legitimate Iphone 5 Dock!!

Finally!! Finally!! I have had my Iphone 5 since October and have been desperately looking for a legitimate, quality dock. I have tried a few (one off of Amazon that broke in a few days and another one, Sinjamoru, that I had to use my own lightning chord...not a great fit and always coming loose!) I have had this Belkin dock for a few days and it is awesome. It is a very nice quality product (with a nice balanced weight) that you would expect Apple to back. The reviewers below are right...don't confuse this dock with Belkin's first one that utilized your existing lightning cable. This one has its own cable and it works great. I even have a Seidio Surface case on it and it still docks perfectly every time. I have been reading the mac forums and I know you guys are looking for a great dock that you don't have to spend a fortune on (Elevation, Podi-m, etc). Well, your search is over...a legitimate dock has finally arrived!!

BTW...Apple's customer service was awesome. I called to get a little more info on this dock and the gentleman that I talked to not only knew about it, but he owned one himself. So after a few minutes of him gushing about how much he liked it and giving me some awesome info on it, I knew I had to order one. Also, he said if I didn't like it I could simply return it to an Apple store...more convienent that dealing with returning it through the mail.

So, as you can tell, I am very satisfied with this product and purchase experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone and even bought one for my boss. He texted me last night "Wow!! Awesome Dock!!"

No, no, no. Don't listen to the bad reviews. They are likely talking about the first Belkin dock for i5. The Apple Store stopped carrying that one a week after a bought it in December 2012.

This one is the one to get. It does not require a cable, like the last one. It is sturdy and holds the i5 securely. The Lightning jack even tilts a bit to ease removing and installing the phone. Now I can use my i5 comfortably at my desk while working.
