Just got this one to go with my MBP 2011, great speed (actually I have never seen a single drive that fast), plug and play and very silent on my desktop! I'm a happy user.

    ugh.

with only 1 thunderbolt port, there is no daisy chaining option - no way to plug another thunderbolt device beyond this one.

this technology is extremely expensive and is going to be dead in the water if companies aren't building products that are properly designed. if you use multiple drives, or thunderbolt devices - stay way from this one - or you'll be constantly unplugging and plugging devices back in. and you know what kind of wear and tear that does to the ports.

go buy a wd drive - they at least have 2 thunderbolt ports.

So far this drive is everything I was looking for - it's fast, quiet, reliable and very easy to use. It's good looking and well built. I bought it for my Final Cut video work. I also like that it comes with a USB and Thunderbolt connections so it works with new and older MBPs.

I've had an older d2 drive for a while but needed more storage space and I was looking forward to trying out one of the new Thunderbolt drives. After some looking around I opted for this unit. I bought two of them. I definitely haven't been let down. The speeds are amazing, there's no noise and I've even got them neatly stacked on a desk rack so they don't take up much room.

I bought this drive for video editing. Originally I had a couple of older FireWire drives daisy-chained but they weren't really quite fast enough to do HD video work. This one is much faster and I can work with uncompressed video without any hassle.

I do a lot of graphic design work so the Thunderbolt connection is perfect for my requirements. I have had the 4TB device for some of my key work for a few months now and I'm a new convert to the d2. It's proven to be reliable and I haven't had any issues with lag while I've been accessing my work.

Mother always said beware of fast drivers.

BEWARE: Often it doesn't pay to get in with somebody you don't know. I have been using Apple products since 1980 and a multitude of of hard drives since they arrived including many Lacie drives. Some died after a few years but some are still ticking. Yes, I was expecting this new Thunderbolt to be fast and it was. But it also crashed fast. (I guess that's what happens when you drive too fast. Joke - but not funny) It lasted a month then suddenly I lost 90% of my files.

I was told to erase it and try again and it was probably just a glitch. Sure enough, Disk Utility says it seems OK. Oh yeah, I say to myself. I'll let you know if there are any more attacks.
